For Students Tegrity Campus 2.0 (Recordings) Check to make sure your computer meets the necessary requirements. Operating systems: Windows Vista or XP (Windows Media Player 6.4+) Mac OS X Browsers: MS Internet Explorer FireFox Safari Note: The Tegrity viewer is a Java applet, which avoids installation and browser security issues caused by proprietary plug-ins of other solutions. There is an automated "browser test" to verify components for first time use. Tegrity Podcasting/mp3 Player: Once a classroom session is uploaded by your instructor, an enhanced Podcast and/or mp3 link may also be made available. The Podcast link will open itunes (must be installed) and will subscribe to the course Podcast. Students can view the Podcast within itunes and sync with their ipod or any other compatible player. Any portable mp3 player will work with the audioonly Podcasting feeds. The enhanced Podcasting feeds include navigation points with pictures from the lecture and require Apple s ipod Photo, Video, or Nano. Note: Check to make sure audio volume is working and on. Download JAVA* WebStart JRE Version 1.5 Note: If you have a later version, i.e. 1.6, you will need to remove and un-install. Be sure you only have one JAVA checked in your Internet Settings: You can check your Java version by selecting the Browser Tools menu. Test for Java (See if you can load Java applet of the following url puzzle - http://mcmprod.com/applets/weboog/weboog2.htm) Be sure that you have Cookie Handling enabled. You can check your Advanced Privacy Settings by selecting the Browser Tools menu/privacy Tab/Advanced. Be sure Override automatic cookie handling and Always allow session cookies check boxes are selected when using Tegrity. 2
To view Tegrity recordings: 1. Click on the Tegrity icon/link in your course. (A new browser window with the Tegrity Campus Viewer Screen will appear.) Tegrity Sessions 2. Select Course. To see the list of class recordings for a course, click the course name in the list. Note: To move from page to page within the classes listed, use the navigation tools at the bottom of the screen. 3. To launch the recording, click the Play button beside the name of the recording or the Plus Sign button to review the chapters (shown in thumbnail view) in a recording.. Note: Slides will automatically advance. If it does not load the first time close your Browser and try again. 4. You can use the mouse roll-over to select from the following options: Print, Download Recording, View Full Screen, and or Help. 3
DeliverySubscriptions: If your Instructor enabled the Subscriptions settings, students will be able to subscribe to Tegrity recordings using ipod/itunes, Mp3, or RSS feeder. 1) For ipod (enhanced podcasting), the itunes software will launch and begin downloading the class recordings. Note: Refer to itunes and ipod documentation for additional information and synchronizing podcasts. Note: you must have itunes installed. You can download itunes for free at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/pm 2) For Mp3 (digital music player), when the dialog box appears, select Copy to Clipboard. Then paste the link into your podcasting application and click Close to dismiss the subscription dialog box. Note: Refer to your digital music player and podcasting software documentation for additional information about listening to podcasts and synchronizing them to your digital music player. This appears to work the same in itunes as RSS Feed. In itunes: Select connect to an Internet broadcast: Choose Advanced > Open Stream. Paste the URL from the Tegrity Viewer. 4
3) Tegrity RSS Feeds include the link to the recorded Tegrity content that can viewed without having to access (log in) to the Campus Portal. The RSS feeder provides notification of new recordings. To add: 1) Select the RSS Feeder button. 2) When the dialog box appears, copy the URL link into a RSS Feed* program. 3) Paste link into your RSS reader. 4) Select close to dismiss the subscription dialog box. (*The RSS link can be used in feeders such as igoogle, Juice, RM, IE7, RSS Bandit, etc.) Note: Refer to your RSS aggregator application documentation for additional information on subscribing to and reading RSS feeds. Troubleshooting/Notes: Display properties - Always view a recording in 800x600 or resolution or greater, and use 16, 24, or 32 bit display. Download Tegrity Java component: Both PC and Mac viewers will be prompted with the "trust Tegrity" message box when viewing Tegrity sessions the first time. This step is necessary in order to allow the Tegrity Java components to be downloaded. Error Message: Your Tegrity sessions list could not open a new window. This may happen because a popup blocker application is used. 1) PC Users - Windows XP: After removing pop-up blockers all browsers work fine. 2) Windows Vista: Disable the User Account Control from control panel > User Accounts. 3) Mac Users - Download the session using Safari. Double click the htm file. If there is a problem retrieving the XML, Click OK until the presentation opens.
