PMO Certifications for PMO Professionals from AIPMO The Association for International PMOs (AIPMO) is a professional association for project, programme, and portfolio office leaders, managers and staff who define, establish, run or work within PMOs across different industry sectors. The IPMO certifications from AIPMO are designed for leaders; managers and core PMO team members in Project, Programme and Portfolio Offices responsible for the determination of PMO needs, business justification, design, establishment, running including the retirement of PMOs. IPMO Expert Certification The certification is an intensive 5 day course for PMO Directors; PMO Managers; PMO Consultants and senior practitioners in project, programme and portfolio management with expertise in PMO. The course is designed to inform, challenge and invoke discussion and debate. The course includes a two hour exam on the final day. Successful learners are awarded the xpert Certification - and join a growing alumni. IPMO Foundation Certification IPMO Practitioner Certification The certification is also a 5 day course for PMO Managers; PMO Consultants and experienced core PMO team members. The course is designed to inform and challenge through lecture; exercises and discussion. Includes one hour thirty minute exam on the final day. Successful learners are awarded the Certification -. PMO The IPMO-F certification is a 4 day course for core PMO team members. The course is designed to inform and increase knowledge of PMOs through lecture; exercises and discussion. Module Overview for all IPMO Certifications Module - Building the Context and Need for PMO Module - PMO Lifecycle to Build and Run PMOs IPMO-F IPM O-Practitioner Gain an overview of the terms used within and around the PMO and project management environment, that are needed as a foundation of understanding of PMOs and project management. Understand the content of the work environment(s) and understand what is required to become an effective PMO team and project member. Topics including organisational structures, success factors, success criteria, project methodology types, pros and cons, all of which help to build confidence. Most attendees of this course should have a good understanding of PMOs, projects and programmes and some will go further with an understanding of business strategy and the implementation of the strategy using project portfolio management. This module helps to recap many of the topics required to be an effective PMO, Manager and introduces topics that are important in your understanding and explaining. The history of PMOs is also covered to help understand where they have originated and this in turn will provide some context to where PMOs could go in terms of services and capabilities in an organisational context. High level overview of the context with relevant topics covered that PMO experts are impacted by. This module covers themes required to be an effective PMO Director but also applies to Portfolio Managers. Identify and troubleshoot issues with PMO issues related to strategy execution Focused on enterprise PMOs, identifying the business needs and align the PMO design and associated business cases across the organisation. Using theories and approaches to strategise how PMOs will best fit and support organisational needs. Identify forces that drive PMO changes and the process alignment of existing PMOs and creation of new PMOs. Module - Run, Monitor and Control Services IPMO-F IPM O-Practitioner Understand the role of the PMO members and the various aspects of their jobs with respect to the agreed services of the PMO. This module includes the PMO services catalogue; the PMO operations handbook; understanding the roles and responsibilities and the tools and techniques used in running a PMO. The proactive role the PMO plays in monitoring, adjusting and controlling services and how quality is managed and controlled Module - Design and Justification Focused on single PMOs, understanding the design concepts associated with the different types of PMOs including the characteristics of each type of PMO. Includes governance models; sizing options; principles; success factors; pilots and business cases. Focused on enterprise PMOs, in addition to the Practitioner level, includes the value of system dynamics in modelling proposed PMOs designs, project setups, proposed contracts, Service Level Agreements (SLAs); techniques that can influences the design and error types.
Module Overview for all IPMO Certifications Module - Pilot and Implement Module - Transform and Retire Includes how to pilot a PMO; the measures of success and improvements to the PMO design process. Implementation includes the focus on the mandate; developing the vision, mission and principles; stakeholder plan; roadmap; and establishing the processes and tools. Focus switches to the Enterprise PMO pilot and implementation and includes all the areas covered in the Practitioner course. Recognise the signs of PMO drivers of change (especially internal drivers) and how to retire or transform a PMO. IPMO-F IPM O-Practitioner Understanding what makes a PMO successful - how to view success and insights into the current research on PMO success. In addition includes PMO Maturity; how to define maturity; maturity models; defining maturity metrics; supporting the assessment process; defining the to-be state and analysing gaps. Understanding the connection between PMO success and PMO maturity is also covered. Design and optimise the control framework through monitoring PMO services across the organisation and their contribution to the strategy execution. Identify and troubleshoot issues with PMO issues related to strategy execution. In addition to Practitioner includes; supporting underperforming PMOs and competence assessment and development.
