Interlink Express Desktop Printing Service Installation Guide Page 1 of 10
Introduction This guide is intended to provide guidance on how to install and configure the new Interlink Express Desktop Printing Service. This guide is intended for Windows systems only. To install the Desktop Printing Service an administrator login and password may be required. Instructions 1.) Launch Google Chrome by clicking the application icon from the desktop or from within the start menu (For Windows 8 Users navigate to your programs). 2.) You will be presented with the Google Chrome browser resembling the window as illustrated on the left. Page 2 of 10
3.) Please navigate to the Interlink Express Website www.interlinkexpress.com by typing the URL address into the address bar located toward the top of the browser. 4.) You will be presented with Interlink Express homepage. Please log in using your unique login and password. Page 3 of 10
5.) Once logged in click Account Details from the menu bar located at the top of the Interlink Express welcome page. 6.) Select Printing Settings from the navigation panel located on the left hand side of the webpage. 7. Ensure Printing to a Thermal Printer is ticked. 8.) Select Desktop Printing Service from the Java component field. This image is for illustration purposes only. The Thermal Port and Thermal Printer Name fields may have different values on your settings page. These should not require changing. 9.) Ensure the Thermal Printer Type, Thermal Port and Thermal Printer Name fields are populated with your printer details. These should not require changing and will reflect current printing settings. 10.) A link will appear to the right of Desktop Printing Service Config Click here to download the Desktop Printing Service. Click the link to download the installer. 11.) Click Save to download the file. You may get the following download warning message This type of file can harm your computer. Do you want keep InterlinkDesktopPrintingS...j ar anyway? If you receive this message click Keep. 12.) Once the file has downloaded click on it to Run it. Page 5 of 10
13.) You may get another warning message Do you want the following program to make changes to your computer. Click YES or Run At this stage you may be asked for an administrator login and password, please contact your network administrator or the person who manages your computers to proceed. 14.) The installer will start and you will see the welcome screen illustrated on the left. Click Next to proceed. Page 6 of 10
15.) The select installation path folder is displayed. This is the folder where the Desktop Printing Service will be installed. Click Next. 16.) A message box will then pop up The target directory will be created: Click OK to proceed. 17.) Once the installation has completed click Next. Page 7 of 10
18.) The installer will create a shortcut in the start menu for you. Please ensure Launch on startup is ticked. 19.) Unless you want to create the shortcut for the current user only, leave the all users option selected. 20.) Click Next. 21.) The installation process should complete successfully. Click Done to close the Installation Wizard. To 22.) Go to the start menu in Windows and Click All Programs > Desktop Printing Service (for Windows 8 users navigate to your programs). Click the Icon for Desktop Printing Service to run it. Page 8 of 10
23.) The Desktop Printing Service Icon should now appear in the taskbar notification area located in the bottom right hand side of your screen. 24.) Go back to the Printing Settings page on the Interlink webpage and click on the Retry link next to Desktop Printing Service Config. 25.) A green tick should appear to indicate that the Desktop Printing Service is running successfully. Page 9 of 10
26.) Click Save from the bottom right hand corner of the page. 27.) The Desktop Printing Service is now ready to use and can be tested by clicking the Test Printer button. Page 10 of 10
