New Features Integration with WorldShare ILL ILL staff will have the ability to submit requests from the WorldCat database in WorldCat Discovery directly into WorldShare ILL. Staff users who have permission set for both a staff view of WorldCat Discovery and WorldShare ILL will benefit from the improved search capabilities of WorldCat Discovery including the: ability to further refine search results after a search MARC record view of items if your library has a Cataloging subscription ability to connect directly to workflows in WorldShare ILL The staff-specific features display once a staff member logs in with their individual OCLC Services username and password when that username has permission set for both WorldCat Discovery and WorldShare ILL. If you haven t already, contact orders@oclc.org to add this functionality to your existing WorldShare account. Please include this text with your information filled in: I already use a WorldShare application. Please configure staff accounts for the WorldCat Discovery interface for: Institution name: Library symbol or WorldShare URL: Personal account information o First and last name: o The existing username for the WorldShare application: o Email address: (Optional) Other staff members personal account information o First and last name: o The existing username for the WorldShare application: o Email address: OCLC Order Services will send you an email confirmation letter that includes instructions for logging into WorldCat Discovery with your staff account. 2

The Staff ILL button appears to the right of the Patron ILL button. If a library does not have patron ILL enabled they will just see the Staff ILL button. Note: The Staff ILL button will only appear when searching the WorldCat database. You will want to confirm you have enabled the WorldCat database in the Metasearch Content module. Clicking on the Staff ILL Request button will take users directly to the holdings display for this item in WorldShare ILL. From here users can complete their ILL workflow. 3

Customizable patron ILL request form (added after first distribution of the release notes) For libraries that enable patron initiated ILL in WorldCat Discovery a customizable form is now available (previously only a basic form was available). On August 8, WorldShare ILL will introduce the ability for a library to customize their patron request form as it displays in WorldCat Discovery. This can be found in the WorldShare ILL section of OCLC Service Configuration. This patron request form will only work with WorldCat Discovery. The patron request form that can be edited in WorldCat Services Administrative Module will continue to be used with FirstSearch, WorldCat Local. Almost all aspects of the Patron Request Form can be customized by libraries. Libraries can divide their customized patron request form into multiple sections and those sections can be re-ordered or removed: 4

Users select field names from a drop down selector, controlling the order in which the fields appear on the request form: Users can make a data field required or optional: 5

Users can provide multiple notes to their patrons that can be used for instructions, copyright notices, etc.: Support for Remote Database searching For libraries with remote databases configured in OCLC Service Configuration, the databases will now be available for searching in WorldCat Discovery. This feature is automatically available to WorldCat Local and WMS libraries. Other WorldCat Discovery libraries can add it as one of the fee-based options. Notes: Records from remote databases can be emailed but cannot be added to a list. If a user is searching only a remote database no held by statement Remote databases can be set to treat as held which will pull the results up in the results let with other items held by your library. Enhancements Added 780/785 MARC fields including navigation We have added Preceding and Succeeding Entry, with navigation, under the Description tab. The rules for the hyperlink are: 1. If $w has OCLC number use for OCLC number search 2. If no OCLC number but ISSN in $x use for standard number search 3. If no OCLC number or ISSN, search will be keyword based on data in $a and/or $t 6

Added searching indicator in the interface We are providing messaging to a user that the system is searching. Upon search, or refining a search, the interface is grayed out, a message is displayed, Searching databases or Updating Results and a spinner is displayed. Updated messages in Availability tab We have implemented workflow based messages on the Availability tab to make it clear to the user what action may be needed to obtain the item. The example below is for an item that is only available online: Current production: 7

Post-install: Searching of LHR data This feature applies to libraries with the Availability Service, which includes all WorldCat Local and WMS libraries. Searching of LHR data is now available. The LHR indexes that can be searched are: ek: = Access Restrictions used exclusively for the print to archives project io: = Action Note used exclusively for the print to archives project in = institution symbol b8: = LHR Location Branch s8: = Shelving location nu: = General call number bq: = LHR barcode nt: = Notes mt: = Material type To allow searching of LHR data, confirm you have enabled it in OCLC Service Configuration > My Worldcat.org > Local and Enhanced Content. 8

Additional bibliographic data on Description tab 1. Displaying non-latin script from the MARC 500, 504, 505, 520 fields, from linked 880 fields, on the Description tab. 500 displays in Notes 504 displays in Bibliography 505 displays in Contents 520 displays in either Summary or Abstracts (depending on the indicator value) Example of the 500 in Notes 9
