CollabNet SourceForge Office Plug-in Introduction CollabNet SourceForge Office Plug-in is developed using Microsoft Windows.NET application that allows users to browse and edit the contents of their SourceForge documents within Microsoft Office itself. It can work with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project. SourceForge Office Plug-in was developed using the SourceForge XML Web Services SOAP APIs.
Installing SourceForge Explorer Check with your SourceForge administrator to get the SourceForge Explorer installation file. System requirements SourceForge Explorer requires the following: Windows XP or Windows 2000 You must also have the Microsoft.NET Framework Version 1.1 installed. You can download it at no charge from the following URL: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/netframework/ Follow the link for Microsoft.NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable. Or try http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=262d25e3-f589-4842-8157-034d1e7cf3a3&displaylang=en To install SourceForge Office Plug-in 1. Ensure that you have the Microsoft.NET Framework installed. 2. Copy the SourceForge Explorer installation files from the location provided by your SourceForge administrator. Save the files anywhere on your hard drive. 3. Launch the setup.exe file to begin the installation process. The Setup Wizard is displayed. 4. Choose the locations where you want to create SourceForge Explorer shortcuts. Then click next. Select Installation Folder window is displayed. 5. Select the directory where you want to install SourceForge Explorer. Select whether you want SourceForge Explorer to be available to just you, or to anyone using your computer. 6. Click Next until the installation process begins. When the installation is complete, the Installation Complete window is displayed. Click Close to exit. SourceForge Office Plug-in is now installed.
Now you will find a new item File Menu drop down as follow This allows you to open and save documents directly from SourceForge.
Opening a document from SourceForge 1. Choose Open From SourceForge from the dropdown menu item If not logged on to SourceForge previously the following Login dialog window will appear Log In to SourceForge Enter Username, Password and the Server name in the appropriate boxes Do not enter the http:// or https:// before the server name. You can also save this information for future use by clicking Save This Information checkbox When you are finished, Click Log In. If you want to set advanced settings click Advanced Settings button which will display the following dialog.
Enter the appropriate details and Click OK, which will return to the Log in dialog window. 2. Upon successful login the following dialog window will be display, choose any of the available projects 3. From the listed document choose the document you want to open from SourceForge and click OK
4. Do the necessary changes, and Save the document (CTRL+S) or File->Save. This will display the following dialog box for saving the document in SourceForge
Enter the details and click OK. This will save the document in SoureForge and the version will be incremented by 1
Saving a document to SourceForge 1. Choose File->SourceForge->Save To SourceForge option, if not logged on previously log in dialog window will appear, see Login to SourceForge. Otherwise Save To dialog window will appear 2. Choose the location where the document need to be saved and click OK 3. Now the SourceForge Document Properties dialog window will be display
4. Enter the appropriate and required fields (required fields will have * mark) and Click OK NB: OK button will be enabled only when all the required values are entered. Now the document is saved to SourceForge NB: The operations are similar to all other plug-ins also.
