Intrductin What is KIDS? (KIDS) is the repsitry f recrd fr cmplete, realtime service infrmatin fr Clients served by the Prgram Offices f DHS (Department f Human Services. Hw will I use the Applicatin? There are multiple grups using the KIDS applicatin that include internal users f the Department f Human Services and external users, such as Service Prviders. Internal Users are respnsible fr dcumenting details abut the Clients f DHS, the services prvided t Clients, as well as dcumenting any Assessments and Plans. Navigating & Cmmn Screen Elements Lgging int the KIDS Applicatin Navigate t the KIDS URL using Micrsft Internet Explrer: https://kids.cunty.allegheny.pa.us/kids The Release Ntes link displays the Release Ntes fr the latest maintenance build that was implemented. The Annuncements link displays a schedule f any maintenance windws planned fr the KIDS applicatin. The Change Request link displays a listing f Change Requests that have been submitted fr the KIDS applicatin. Lg in using yur Lgin ID and Passwrd. TIP: Yur user credentials are assigned by the Department f Human Services Service Desk. This will be a T, K, r X number. Click the buttn. TIP: Pp-up blcker must be turned ff fr the applicatin t pen. Key Elements f the Applicatin Menu Buttns and Rt/Branch System Rt/Branch System One way t navigate in the applicatin The Rt/Branch system ges ut t the leaf level. Names f screens in bld text can be navigated t. Screen names in light text cannt be viewed. An actin must happen befre this screen can be viewed. Hver n menu buttns t expand menus. Be sure t navigate straight dwn and straight acrss. Click when the desired screen is highlighted in the expanded menu. Black crner triangle [ ] indicates there are additinal screens in the menu. The Breadcrumb Trail Anther way t navigate in the applicatin. Displayed when ne f the menu buttns is selected. Displayed nce an entity is in fcus. This displays ne level f the menu. This tlbar changes depending n where yu are in the applicatin. Blue shws the rt pages. Orange shws current lcatin in the applicatin. Gray shws additinal screens. The Additinal Screen icn is a small square icn fund n certain breadcrumb tlbar buttns. Left Navigatin Pane The left Navigatin Pane is used t assist with yur day t day activities in the applicatin. This feature is always present. There are three tabs that functin like file flders. Organizer Tab The Organizer tab is used t manage respnsibilities fr the active user. Wrklad: My Active Services Displays cases/clients assigned t the prvider. My Tasks: My Request Awaiting Apprval- Requests waiting fr Apprval. Denied Requests fr apprval that have been denied. Recently Apprved Requests fr apprval that have been recently Apprved. Returned Requests fr apprval that have been returned t the requesting wrker; this may include ntes explaining why the apprval has been sent back fr further wrk. Online Service Requests Pending Online Service Request - placement r nn-placement requests that have been psted fr prviders t view and respnd t. Fcus Tab The Fcus tab displays the KIDS Entity that the user is viewing (Referral/Case/Client). Only ne Case r Referral can be in fcus at a time. Only ne Client can be in fcus at a time. Only ne Referral/Case and Client can be in fcus at a time. Any screen viewed is fr the KIDS Entities (Case and/r Client) that is in fcus. Histry Tab The Histry tab lists the last 5 screens viewed during in the case/referral that is currently in fcus. 11/12/2015 KIDS Intrductin Prviders Page 7 f 12

Quick Search Select the type f Entity; Case, Client, r Referral. Enter the KIDS Entity ID number Click the buttn r type Enter. Yur Entity will nw be in fcus. Only numerical characters can be used. 11/12/2015 KIDS Intrductin Prviders Page 8 f 12

Cmmn Screen Elements Field A field is an area where data has been entered. It is limited in size. Radi Buttn Selectin indicatrs in KIDS Only ne radi buttn can be selected within a grup. Check Bx Select and deselect by clicking inside the bx. Multiple bxes can be selected at the same time. 11/12/2015 KIDS Intrductin Prviders Page 9 f 12

Narrative Text Field / Zm Bx Click n the Magnifying Glass icn t the right f the field t pen the Zm Bx. Zm Bx view displays all the text in the field. The Character Limit fr the bx as well as Number f Characters Entered als appears. Tabs Tabs shw there are multiple screen layers n tp f each ther. These are accessed by clicking n the desired tab t bring infrmatin t the tp f the stack. Grids Grids are built based n the fields cmpleted n the screen. If n infrmatin is currently in the grid, the fields belw will be empty. The grid ppulates upn saving the applicable fields. Use Page number abve grid t mve between the pages f the grid. The grid can be srted by the grid headings. Click n the wrd in the blue grid header. The Srt Indicatr [ ] is displayed t shw the directin the grid has been srted. Click n the wrd in the blue grid header t srt the grid in the ppsite directin. Buttns The Shw buttn will display the selected recrd. Click the Preview buttn t generate the reprt r frm assciated t the screen r gruping f screens being viewed. The Cancel buttn will leave the current displayed screen and display the Splash screen. 11/12/2015 KIDS Intrductin Prviders Page 11 f 12

Timing Out After 60 minutes f inactivity in the applicatin, the applicatin will time ut. If the sessin has timed ut, any unsaved infrmatin will be lst. Any actin that causes the screen t refresh (such as saving r navigating t a different screen r tab) will reset the time-ut clck. TIP: While the KIDS system has a time ut length f 60 minutes; Internet Explrer s time ut length is shrter and can be as shrt as 20-30 minutes depending n the versin f Internet Explrer being used. Lgging ut f the Applicatin T lg ut, click the Lgut link in the upper-right crner f the screen.
