Intrductin This reprt highlights the perfrmance results f certificatin tests perfrmed n the Prmise R2600 unified strage slutin. This prduct was used as the strage lcatin fr bth the live and archive database during this certificatin test, and the redundancy features f the slutin were highlighted during the test. The Milestne Technlgy Partner (MTP) Certificatin prgram seeks t cnfirm that server, strage and netwrk slutins prvided by qualified MTP vendrs meet the perfrmance benchmarks required t supprt the Milestne XPrtect VMS applicatins, and t measure the maximum perfrmance available t Milestne custmers if they chse t build a slutin using certified MTP prducts. Test Prcess The testing f the R2600 included tw benchmark tests, tw lad tests, and a failver test scenari. After installatin and cnfiguratin f all required system cmpnents, the first step in the test was t establish a benchmark perfrmance level against which t measure the perfrmance f the system under mre data-intensive levels f vide recrding. Once the benchmark was established, the test prcess calls fr increasing the parameters f the vide streams t add mre data t each stream, r increasing the number f cameras n each recrding server. 3 Prmise - MTP Certificatin Summary
This lad testing prcess used H.264, 1 megapixel reslutin streams, with cmpressin f 60% and frame rate f 30 frames per secnd (FPS). The perfrmance f the array was mnitred as the number f cameras was increased until we reached an unacceptable level f write latency, CPU cnsumptin, archive event duratin, r vide frame lss. At that pint the data lad was reduced, and a full data capture takes place and the maximum perfrmance f the strage array is defined t be at the bserved levels f data and vide stream parameters. The failver, r high-availability, test scenari cncluded the testing n the R2600 strage slutin. This failver test scenari sught t add an additinal layer f redundancy t an XPrtect system by testing the failure f ne strage cntrller, and the impact this wuld have n the recrding prcess when the standby cntrller was activated. Any nticeable peratinal impact n the surveillance system and any measurable perfrmance metrics captured during the failver event were bth included in making a determinatin n the effectiveness f this feature. Tplgy Tw different tplgies were need t supprt the full range f tests which were cnducted. Testing the 1Gb iscsi strage cntrllers included in the R2600iD required the strage t be cnnected thrugh a 1 Gb LAN, and the tests including the 8Gb fiber channel strage cntrllers in the R2600fiD required fiber ptic cnnectins and a fiber channel switch. The R2600iD strage was cnnected t the NVR using iscsi cnnectins thrugh all f the fur netwrk interfaces available n the NVR. Our test utilized ne cntrller as the primary cnnecting all fur netwrk interfaces directly t the NVR using iscsi, and the ther cntrller served as a standby. The netwrk and all f the NICs n the servers and the strage systems supprted Gigabit Ethernet. The system tplgy fr the R2600fiD included a similar tw server XPrtect Crprate system with all f the Management and Client applicatins and services hsted n ne server while the Recrding Server was hsted n an independent cmmercial grade server within the netwrk. The Recrding Server hst machine was equipped with an 8Gb fiber channel hst bus adaptr (FC HBA). The tw prts n this FC HBA were cnnected t a fiber channel switch and the switch was then cnnected t the strage cntrllers n the R2600fiD. The tplgy fr this scenari can be seen in Figure 2. Key Findings The Prmise Technlgy R2600 strage slutin perfrms as a vide strage platfrm within the Milestne XPrtect VMS system at a level that is tw t fur times higher than the benchmark levels determined by the Milestne Server and Strage Calculatr. The calculatr indicates that the R2600 shuld supprt apprximately 20 cameras at the benchmark level, and it was able t supprt a maximum f 80 cameras. The system perfrms at a high level f data thrughput, and with acceptable read/write latency when using the ptimal lgical disk cnfiguratin. The R2600 strage prduct is a certified MTP slutin. 8 GB FC Maximum: R2600fiD 80 5.6 5.2 409 The R2600 was als tested t prvide an additinal layer if redundancy in the frm f dual strage cntrllers which can perate in an active/standby cnfiguratin. Other test findings include verificatin f the R2600 s dual strage cntrller failver functinality. This feature perfrmed very impressively in the tests which were cnducted. The system was withut a cnnectin fr less than 1 minute in all f the tests f the high-availability cnfiguratin. This feature, and the R2600 strage slutin, can be used as part f a larger suite f redundancy ptins, including RAID cnfiguratins, sftware based failver, and ther redundant cmpnents, t prvide a highly resilient and pwerful surveillance system. Test Scenari VESS R2600iD dwntime XPrtect dwntime Failver: 59 secnds 44 secnds The Prmise Technlgies VESS R2600 strage slutin is a certified strage platfrm fr use with the Milestne XPrtect VMS. These slutins can be used t supprt XPrtect Recrding Servers which are recrding between 1 and 50 cameras at megapixel reslutin. Larger systems culd be built using multiple strage slutins, alternative disk cnfiguratins, and multiple Recrding Servers.
