Global Xpress One high speed network, one trusted provider, one seamless global solution INMARSAT > Service > Global Xpress

Global Xpress We live in a digitally connected world. And we expect to be able to tap into that world 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year no matter where we are. As the industry leader and pioneer of commercial global mobile satellite communications, Inmarsat has been connecting people from all around the planet and across the oceans for over three decades. From the critical: safety services for aircraft and shipping, secure comms for military operations in the field, voice and data lifelines for first responders at the scene of a disaster to the personal: enabling you to check your email, browse the web or call your child to say goodnight from anywhere day or night. We re an invisible force. You can t see us, but you can t do without us. Powering this global connectivity on land, at sea and in the air are the Inmarsat constellations of satellites, ground network stations, fixed and mobile terminals all designed and supported by the leading minds in the industry. We continually invest in our infrastructure because we recognise that the nature of universal communication is constantly changing, and there s always a demand to go further, faster. Which is where Inmarsat Global Xpress comes in. Global Xpress is the first high-speed commercial Ka-band broadband satellite network to span the world. It is unique truly representing a new era in mobile communications. Global Xpress will deliver worldwide coverage from a single operator, consistent, high bandwidth and, of course, the Inmarsat network reliability which customers have depended on for decades. Operating in the resilient Ka-band, yet integrating seamlessly with our existing L-band network, Global Xpress allows customers across aviation, maritime, enterprise and government sectors to have reliable and assured access to highthroughput communications. Inmarsat-5 F1, the first of our new-generation satellites to deliver Global Xpress, was launched in December 2013 and entered into commercial service in June 2014, providing critical communication services in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The launch of the second and third I-5 satellites will follow and we anticipate the introduction of full global commercial service for Global Xpress early in the second half of 2015. Each satellite operates with a combination of fixed narrow spot beams that enable Inmarsat to deliver those higher speeds through more compact terminals, and steerable beams, so additional capacity can be directed in real time to where it is needed Back on the ground, we ve collaborated with Cisco to deliver ISEP the Inmarsat Service Enablement Platform, a collection of diverse technologies which is the management and administrative interface to Global Xpress (and subsequently L-Band). This includes Inmarsat Gateway, a series of user portals which enable, through ISEP, access to and management of Global Xpress services including content-rich applications, developed by our Certified Application Partners innovative companies that create Inmarsat-ready applications tailored to meet customers needs. So, whether you are an airline passenger watching your favourite movie on your laptop at 30,000 feet, a crew member video-chatting with family from the middle of the ocean, a geologist sending an oil exploration report from the ends of the earth, or a mission commander on border surveillance operations, the connectivity you need will be there. Invisible but ever reliable Inmarsat and Global Xpress.

For all environments Meeting the high-speed, high-volume needs of customers across Aviation, Maritime, Enterprise and Government. GX Aviation What does Global Xpress mean to the customer in the sky? Put simply, it means that always on isn t the sometimes off that international travellers currently have to contend with. With GX Aviation for commercial airlines and Jet ConneX for business jets, passengers will be able to access the internet from their Wi-Fi enabled smart device or laptop for email, office applications and web browsing. And because it is so fast, GX expands the possibilities for in-flight entertainment to real-time TV and TV on demand. GX Aviation will offer nose to tail connectivity from the cockpit right through the cabin, with the most extensive coverage of airline routes all provided by Inmarsat. Fleet Xpress For ship operators, the days of trying to work around a patchwork of different VSAT networks with fluctuating service availability and quality are over. Fleet Xpress redefines what s possible for maritime communications through the availability of higher bandwidth on a consistent, end-toend global basis. Fleet Xpress powers smart ships, taking operational efficiency to new levels. It makes video calls to the bridge a viable proposition and opens access to advanced applications, from the latest chart updates and real-time engine monitoring to weather routing. Crew are happier, being able to see loved ones faces as they chat, watching sport and the news, shopping online or updating social media all on their own devices. Global Xpress for Enterprise It means oil and gas, mining and construction companies can benefit from a huge range of broadband applications out in the field; media users can transmit HD and SD live video; NGOs and aid organisations get the connectivity they need for emergency response and to set up long-term development programmes such as education and healthcare. Accessed through a portfolio of fixed and highly-portable mobile terminals, and with a wide range of service plans tailored to individual requirements, Global Xpress is easy to set up. Gone are the days of struggling to overcome the limitations of terrestrial networks and multiple VSAT service contracts. Instead, Global Xpress offers one unified network from one satellite provider, delivering seamless coverage throughout the world. Global Xpress for Government As the trusted provider of satellite communication services to government customers for more than three decades, we understand the mission-critical need for mobile and interoperable communications and the importance of access to secure, reliable wideband connectivity, wherever and whenever it is required. We also know that communication solutions need to be flexible and scalable to handle rapidly changing requirements in today s world. In fact, Global Xpress has been built from the ground up specifically with government customers in mind. As such, it is the first global commercial network that is interoperable with MILSATCOM Ka-band systems, providing resilient, worldwide augmentation. This means you can integrate easily and cost-effectively into Global Xpress with your own platforms or adopt it as a standalone solution.
