Getting View Client File 1. Launch Internet Explorer 2. At address bar enter this URL https://viewvdi.tp.edu.sg/ and press [Enter].
3. Please click on More information and click on Go on to the webpage (not recommended), this will redirect you to the download page of view client. 4. Based on your operating system platform and click [Go to Downloads]. For example, if you were using Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system platform, click on Go to Downloads of VMware Horizon Client for Windows.
5. You may select the version 4.xx that you wish to download and proceed to click [Download]. Take note that the website will show the latest version of the Horizon Client in the Select Version. 6. You will be prompted to save or run the executable file. If you want to keep the file for future or other usage, please click [Save] otherwise click [Run]. 7. Please click [Run] if you have chosen to save the executable file.
Installation of Horizon Client 8. The setup dialog box will be displayed, please click [Agree & Install] to install VMware Horizon Client. 9. Please wait while the installation is in progress.
10. Installation completed. Please click [Restart Now] to restart your computer or laptop.
Login into Your Virtual Desktop 11. Upon login, you will see VMware Horizon Client shortcut been created on your desktop. 12. Double click at VMware Horizon Client to open the Horizon Client application. Click on the New Server to key in the site viewvdi.tp.edu.sg as shown below. Next, click on Connect button to connect to this Horizon server.
13. Please click [Continue] to proceed. 14. Please click [Accept] to proceed. 15. Please enter your IIT-Domain username and password to login to your virtual desktop and click [Login].
16. Right click on the desktop pool assigned for the subject you are attending, go to Display and click on [Fullscreen] to change the display. 17. Double click on the desktop pool assigned for the subject you are attending or right click on the desktop pool and click on [Launch].
18. Please wait while the server is preparing and connecting to the desktop you will be using.
19. You will see a window dialog box of your virtual desktop being launched.
20. Now you are able to use your virtual desktop. 21. Please remember to save all your data on your USB device.
Using Your USB Thumb Drive/Hard Disk 22. At the top of your virtual desktop, click [Connect USB Device] and click on your USB device. Eg. PNY USB 3.0 FD.
23. Please wait while your USB device driver is installing.
24. Your USB device is ready to use.
25. To safely remove your USB device, go to the taskbar and click on this icon. Select and click on Eject Removable Disk (Drive Letter:) to eject your USB device.
26. To disconnect your USB device, at the top of your virtual desktop, click and select your USB device name. This will disconnect your USB device from your virtual desktop and you will be able to use your USB device on your physical computer or laptop.
To Disconnect Your Virtual Desktop Session 27. To disconnect your virtual desktop session, please click [X] which is located at your top right hand corner. Within 30 minutes period, you will be able to re-login to your virtual desktop session. Click [OK] to confirm that you will be disconnecting this session.
28. Or click on [Options] [Disconnect] to disconnect your virtual desktop session. Within 30 minutes period, you will be able to re-login to your virtual desktop session 29. Click [OK] to confirm that you will be disconnecting this session.
30. To re-login to your virtual desktop please refer to Login into Your Virtual Desktop section. Right click on the desktop pool, click on Launch to re-connect to your virtual desktop session where you previously disconnected from.
31. Your virtual desktop will be resumed to the state of where you have left before disconnecting your virtual desktop.
To Log off Your Virtual Desktop Session 32. Click at [Start] click at [Log off]. Once you have log off, your virtual desktop will be erased or deleted. You would not be able to retrieve any of your data you have saved on your virtual desktop.
33. Or click on [Options] click on [Disconnect and Logoff]. Once you have log off, your virtual desktop will be erased or deleted. You would not be able to retrieve any of your data you have saved on your virtual desktop. 34. Please remember to save all your data on your USB device.
