Configuring and Using your Nationwide Extranet Virtual Machine V8.16.17 OVERVIEW To access your Nationwide email, you must configure your PC. This is required whenever you are accessing from a new machine or a different browser for the first time. Remember, your virtual machine should be limited to Outlook and Office 365 applications. Continue to use your workstation outside of Citrix when completing day-to-day business functions. CONFIGURE NATIONWIDE VIRTUAL MACHINE Step 1: Connect to the Nationwide SSL VPN site The first step is to connect to VPN. 1. Click the link https://vdx.nationwide.com to access the VPN site in Internet Explorer. 2. Enter your username. Note: This is your short name (do not include @nationwide.com) 3. Enter your password. Note: Your initial password is Nation20. This password should be changed. See page 6 for instructions. 4. Click the Sign In button. Step 2: Register for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Multi-factor authentication is a method of access control in which a user is granted access only after presenting separate credentials to verify the user s identity. 1. Click Continue from the Protect the Network page. 2. Enter an email address that can be accessed while not connected to VDE. For example, a personal Gmail or Yahoo or other mail account. 2
This email will be used to receive codes when connecting from unknown workstations. Click Continue. 3. An email will be sent to the email address provided with a code. Open the email to retrieve the required confirmation code. 4. Click Yes. I take responsibility for this device and then Continue. Note: If your browser is configured to clear cookies and/or cache upon exit, you will be required to provide a one-time password with every login. 5. The MFA registration is complete, starting the SSL VPN software download and installation. 3
Step 3: Upgrade the Citrix Receiver Client An error will display requesting an upgrade to the Citrix Receiver Client. Click Continue when the error displays and take the following steps to upgrade. 1. Go to https://www.citrix.com/products/receiver/ 2. Click the link to download the receiver for Windows. Click Run to install. 3. When prompted, click Yes. 4
4. Click Start. 5. Check the box to accept the license agreement then Install. 6. Click Finish. 7. Return to https://www.citrix.com/products/receiver/ and try again. Step 4: Install the SSL VPN Software To install the SSL VPN software, you must be a local administrator on your workstation. Please contact your local administrator for help. 1. If a Setup Control Warning dialog displays, click Always to suppress the prompt in the future. 2. Wait for the installation to complete. 3. Wait for the UnifiedSDK.zip file to be downloaded. 4. Wait for the Secure Application Manager to be downloaded. 5
5. If you are presented with a Java security warning, check the box Always trust content from this publisher. And click Yes. 6. Click Yes from the Secure Application Manager dialog. You are now logged into SSL VPN and can reach the Nationwide resources from the Landing page. 6
CONFIRMING VPN CONNECTION After connecting to VPN, you can confirm your connection by checking your system tray from the bottom-right corner of your desktop. Look for the WSAM (Windows Secure Application Manager) icon. DISCONNECTING VPN When you are ready to sign out, right-click on the WSAM icon and choose Sign Out. 7
USING THE VIRTUAL MACHINE Creating a Local Desktop shortcut to SSL VPN Creating a shortcut using a built-in browser function may cause an issue with future connection attempts. To create a shortcut to https://vdx.nationwide.com: 1. Right-click on your desktop and select New > Shortcut. 2. In the location name box, enter https://vdx.nationwide.com. 3. Click Next. 4. Enter a name for the new shortcut. 5. Click Finish. Helpful Citrix Desktop Viewer Commands CTRL+ALT+INSERT Locks and Unlocks the Windows Desktop in the Citrix Desktop Viewer. (Replaces ctrl-alt-delete, since that will lock/unlock your local physical machine) CTRL+SHIFT+ESC Runs Windows Task Manager when focus is in the Citrix Desktop Viewer. Changing the Password It is important to change your password from the default password provided. Follow these steps to change the password: 1. Click the Start Menu button and click Windows Security. 2. Click Change a password 3. In the dialog, enter the old password, then a new password. Enter new password again to confirm. Click the arrow to complete. 8
