Chapter 2 Disassembly Procedure Please follow the information provided in this section to perform the complete disassembly procedure of the notebook. Be sure to use proper tools described before. A SUS N50VN Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedures for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your service needs. The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps: Battery Module CPU/Heat Sink Module Memory Module Turbo Memory Module 3G card Module HDD Module ODD Module Keyboard Module Bottom Case Module Main Board Module Top Case Module LCD Module 2 1 v1.0

BATTERY Battery Module The illustration below shows how to remove the battery module. 1. Turn over the notebook. Slide the battery latch (No.1) to unlock and firmly remove the battery CPU MODULE REMOVAL CPU REMOVAL CPU Module The illustrations below show how to remove the CPU module from the notebook. Removing CPU 1. Remove 9 screws (M2*6L) and take away the CPU cover, then disconnect fan cable. 2-2 v1.0

2. Remove 4 (M2*4L)+5 (M2*6L) screws above the CPU and disconnect the cable, then take away the thermal module. 3. Turn the non-removable screw here 180 degrees counter-clockwise to loosen the CPU. L Unlock O 4. Lift the CPU with vacuum-handling tool and take it out. 2-3 v1.0

MEMORY MODULE MEMORY REMOVAL Memory Module The N50VN Notebook has 2 SO-DIMM sockets for installing SO-DIMM DDR800. It can upgrade the total memory size up to 4 GB. Removing Memory module 1. Release 2 latches to pop up the memory card at 30 degree angels and then pull it out at that angel.. 2. Release 2 latches to pop up the second memory card at 30 degree angels and then pull it out at that angel.. 2-4 v1.0

TURBO MEMORY MODULE TURBO Turbo Memory Module The N50VN Notebook has 1 SO-DIMM socket for installing turbo memory. Removing Turbo Memory module 1. Remove 2 screws (M2*3L) and disassemble the turbo memory at 45 degree angles. MEMORY REMOVAL 2-5 v1.0

WLAN MODULE WLAN Module The N50VN Notebook has 1 SO-DIMM socket for installing WLAN. Removing WLAN module 1. Tear off one tape and disconnect WLAN antennas. 2. Unscrew 2 screws (M2*3L) and remove WLAN card. 2-6 v1.0

3G CARD MODULE 3 G card Module The N50VN Notebook has 1 SO-DIMM socket for installing 3G card. Removing 3G card module 1. Disconnect antenna and remove 2 screws (M2*3L), then remove 3G card. HDD MODULE HDD MODULE HDD Module The illustrations below show how to remove the HDD module from the notebook. Removing HDD Module 1. Remove two screws (M2*6L) and lift the HDD cover away. REMOVAL 2. Pull the hard disk module toward the direction of the arrow and lift it up and take it out. 2-7 v1.0

OPTICAL DRIVE REMOVAL ODD Module The illustrations below show how to remove the ODD module. 1. Remove 1 screw (M2*6L). 2. Push the metal plate with a tweezers and pull the ODD out. KEYBOARD REMOVAL Keyboard Module The illustrations below show how to remove the keyboard. 1. Unlock 6 keyboard latches (ESC, F5, F9, PrtSc, End). 2-8 v1.0

2. Turn over the keyboard and remove one tape, then disconnect the keyboard cable and take away the keyboard. BOTTOM CASE MODULE LCD&TOP CASE DISASSEMBLY Bottom Case Module The disassembly of bottom case in N50VN notebook is particular. We should take away the top case and the LCD together first. The illustrations below show how to remove them. Disassembling LCD Module and top case 1. Remove 2 screw rubber pads. 2-9 v1.0

2. Remove 2 screws (M2*6L) on each LCD hinge cover. 3. Take away the LCD hinge covers. 4. Use disassembly tool to open these latches around the four sides and turn over the cap sensor cover. 2-10 v1.0

5. Disconnect CAP SENSOR FPC and take away the CAP SENSOR BOARD. 6. Remove 1 (M2*4L) screw and disconnect LVDS cable and camera & microphone & converter cable. 7. Thread these antennas out of the latches and pull it out. 2-11 v1.0

8. Disconnect touchpad FPC fingerprint cable speaker cable and CAP SENSOR FPC one by one. 9. Remove 4 screws (M2*6L) from the top case and remove 22 (4(M2.5*6L)+4 (M2*4L)+14 (M2*6L)screws from the bottom case. 10. Lift the top case while it is connected with LCD module. 2-12 v1.0

11. Disconnect SIM card cable with motherboard and SIM board, them remove SIM board from bottom case. 12. Tear off 2 tapes and disconnect Bluetooth cable with motherboard. 13. Take away the Bluetooth from bottom case and disconnect Bluetooth cable. 2-13 v1.0

14. Disconnect USB cable with motherboard and tear off 2 tapes. 15. Remove 2 screws(m2*6l) and take away the cable for USB. 16. Disconnect the NEGATIVE ION GENERATOR cable with motherboard and tear off 1 piece of tape. 17. Remove 2 screws(m2*6l) and take away the NEGATIVE ION GENERATOR from bottom case. 2-14 v1.0

MAIN BOARD DISASSEMBLY MAIN BOARD REMOVAL Main Board Module The illustrations below show how to disassemble and remove the Main Board module of the notebook. Removing Main Board 1. Remove 2 screws(m2*6l) on the main board and take the motherboard out off the bottom case. 2. Take away TPM board. TOP CASE REMOVAL TOP CASE DISASSEMBLY Top case Module The illustrations below show how to disassemble the top case module. Disassembling top case module 1. There is a piece of double tape on the touchpad FPC. Tear up the touchpad FPC and disconnect it with touchpad board. 2-15 v1.0

2. There is also a piece of double tape on the fingerprint cable. Tear up the fingerprint cable and disconnect it with fingerprint board. 3. Remove 5 screws(m2*3l) and take away the touchpad & fingerprint bracket. 4. Remove fingerprint board & touchpad board away from top case. 5. Tear off one piece of tape and take away the CAP SENSOR FPC from top case. 2-16 v1.0

6. Tear off 5 tapes on the speaker cables. 7. Remove 2 screws(m2*3l) on each speaker and take it away. 8. Remove 8 screws(m2.5*6l) and 8 rubber pads on the LCD Module. 2-17 v1.0

9. Pry the LCD bezel to loose it out of latches and take away the LCD bezel. Disassembly Procedure 10. Remove 6 screws(m2.5*6l) 11. Separate Top case with LCD module. 12. Remove 1 screw(m2.5*6l) on each hinge and take away the hinges. 2-18 v1.0

LCD MODULE LED CONVERTER BOARD LCD Module The illustrations below show how to disassemble the LCD module. The module contains LCD panel, Covertor board, LCD bracket, LCD front cover, LCD back cover. Disassembling Converter board 1. Disconnect LED converter cable and remove 1 screw(m2*4l). DISASSEMBLY 2. Lift LED converter board and disconnect the covertor cable and then take away the LED converter board. LCD PANEL DISASSEMBLY Disassembling LCD panel 1. Remove 2 screws(m2*4l) and take away the LCD panel. 2-19 v1.0

2. Disconnect LCD FPC and take away the Covertor board. 3. Turn over the LCD panel and tear a tape. 4. Tear a little tape and disconnect the coaxial cable. 5. Remove 4 screws(m2*4l) on the right LCD bracket and 4 screws on the left side to disassemble LCD brackets. 2-20 v1.0

CAMERA MODULE DISASSEMBLY Disassembling Camera 1. Disconnect camera cable and take away the camera board.. 2. Tear off 4 pieces of tapes and take away INVERTER CABLE W/COMS MICFVC. ANTENNA MODULE DISASSEMBLY Disassembling Antenna 1. Tear tapes to set free the antennas and take them all away.. 2-21 v1.0
