Useful Information This document contains some brief information and screen shots to assist in your exploration of the Lodge Family Trees. It is essential that Javascript is enabled on your computer for this application to function. If in doubt, refer to your browser help system. It should be noted that many of the family tree charts contain significant detail but have been designed to be printed on home printers. If, however, you prefer a larger copy, there are many print shops that can easily read the PDF files produced by the application and would be able to assist in printing these on larger format paper. Note: The screen shots shown in this document were produced using the Microsoft Edge browser and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC using a monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 1 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018

The main screen of the application is shown below. Enter the Lodge Number of interest and click on the Submit button. The Enter or Return keys on the keyboard have no effect. A full list of database revisions is available for review by following this link. Latest revisions are always shown first. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, you can download and install a copy from the Adobe site for free. Each chart has a button enabling you to access this free software, which you only have to do once. The document you are currently reading has been downloaded or opened from here. Enter the Lodge number you are looking for, then click on Submit. Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 2 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018

In general, the requested Lodge will only occur on one Chart Go to Page 4. Sometimes the Lodge occurs on two or more charts and a further selection has to be made, as shown in this screenshot. The Lodge you have requested appears on more than one chart. You must now select one chart which you wish to view. The selected chart will be highlighted and you should then click the Submit selection button. Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 3 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018

The Lodge Family Tree Chart for the requested Lodge will now be displayed in another window, as follows: If preferred, select to view as a PDF file, where search and zoom facilities are available. Additional information such as Warrant Date, Consecration Date and pre-1863 Lodge numbering (where applicable) are also provided. Use the vertical and horizontal scroll bars to Use the vertical and horizontal scroll bars to navigate around the family tree chart. Note that scroll bars only appear where required (horizontally, vertically or both). In this example, only the horizontal scroll bar is required. Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 4 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018

Having selected to view the PDF file from the previous screen, there are two key options available, namely Zoom and Search. In this brief document, it is not possible to describe exactly where you will find these options as each browser type (Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera etc.) handles the files in a different way. This is also true between the various releases of any of the above browsers but is probably more notably marked in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. The following pages show some examples of where these can be found on the current Microsoft Edge / Adobe Acrobat combination (Windows 10 / Microsoft Edge / Integrated Adobe Reader RT). Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 5 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018

In order to get to the Zoom and Find facilities, click on this symbol (3 dots). The Zoom facility is located here in Microsoft Edge. Use the + / - buttons to change the zoom. Enter part of the Lodge name or Number you are searching for into this box and click on the Return key on the keyboard. Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 6 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018

Note in this example, the zoom has been set to 125%. Note in this example, (part of) the Lodge name Hadleigh has been entered into the Find on page box. This has located and highlighted one entry on this page so it is easy for the viewer to locate. Note that in this example, the Find on page feature indicates that there are 3 occurrences of Hadleigh in the PDF file and these can be found by clicking on one of the arrows indicated. Click Find on page to display the additional line enabling the Find box as shown in the instructions on the left. Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 7 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018

This page shows the first page of Lodges on this Chart in ascending numerical order, together with their jurisdiction and their Dates of Warrant and Consecration. Also included are notes that are associated with that particular Lodge. Note that deceased Lodges and their associated notes are shown in grey print on the Lodge pages. This page shows those Lodges which were Constituted / Consecrated prior to 1863, together with the history of their previous Lodge Numbers at each of the Grand Lodge renumberings. Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 9 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018

This page shows the first page of Lodges and associated Chapters for this Chart in ascending numerical order, together with their jurisdiction and their Dates of Warrant / Charter and Consecration. Also included are notes that are associated with the particular Lodge or Chapter. Note that all Lodges and their associated notes are shown in blue print in the Lodges and Attached Chapters report. Chapters and their associated notes are shown in red print. The above applies to Lodges and Chapters whether they are still live or deceased. This page shows those Chapters which were Constituted / Consecrated prior to 1863, together with the history of their previous Lodge Numbers at each of the Supreme Grand Chapter renumberings. N.B. This is from a different Chart since Chart 160 as used in this document does not have any Chapters meeting these criteria. Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 11 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018

If you look at page 10, you will notice that against each Warrant / Charter and Consecration date shown is a source number. This page shows the origin of that source number. Useful_Information - 13-Feb-2018.docx Page 12 of 12 Wednesday, 16 May 2018
