Ontario College Application Centre (OCAS) On-line Application Instructions The on-line application can be found at www.ontariocolleges.ca. When you visit this site you will see 4 tabs titled Applying, Colleges, Programs, and FAQ. All of the tabs contain valuable information regarding Ontario Colleges and the application procedure. APPLYING Find information out about important dates, application fees, how to request transcripts, program types, highly competitive programs, and how to accept an offer of admission. COLLEGES Provides information on why to choose college, a college map of Ontario, how to contact the colleges, and how to pay for college. PROGRAMS - Search for colleges that have your programs, find out about similar programs you may never have thought about, find out when the program start date is, what campus the program is located at and even if there is more than one start date during the school year for that program, compare programs. FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions There are also 3 tabs in the upper right hand of the screen, Apply, Log In and Francais APPLY the tab to use for applying to college in Ontario. Record the following here, for future use: Username (hint: email address) Account Number Application Number LOG IN - Once you have created an account you may log in from this tab. GET READY TO APPLY: Make sure you have a valid acceptable email address Colleges use email to contact you. You will also need your OEN and student number from Bishop Reding - can be found on report card or CC or timetable. Your OEN is the same for all schools, your student number is the same if always a HCDSB student or different if being at another board before BR. Payment - $95 Paid by Credit card, Visa debit, interac, online, by Phone, certified cheque or money order To apply to an Ontario College log onto www.ontariocolleges.ca

College & Campus Program Title & Start Date Requirements

IMPORTANT DATES October 15, 2017 - Colleges begin receiving applications February 1, 2018 - Equal consideration for all applications received AND paid for on or before this date. For highly competitive programs you must apply by this date! DO NOT WAIT UNTIL FEB 1, TO APPLY AS THE WEBSITE BECOMES OVERLOADED! February 1, 2018 - Colleges may begin sending offers of admission. If you do not have the requirements schools may notify you that you do not qualify. You may apply after the Feb 1 deadline and your application is considered on a first-come, first-served basis depending on space May 1, 2018 - Must confirm acceptance of an offer by this date, offers will become inactive after this date. Offers made after May 1, 2018 will have a deadline date to accept the offer by - be AWARE of it! Mid-June 2018 - colleges will require a tuition deposit by mid June. Each college sets its own amount and payment deadline. This will be communicated to you by the college. READ EVERYTHING YOU GET! SOME THINGS ARE TIME SENSITIVE! Use the section below to help you get ready for your application. Enter your College program information below once you have decided on your final 5 choices. 1 Click APPLY it is at the top right First-time users will be asked to Create New Account Create your account with details as requested; Legal name, Date of Birth, Email (Your username defaults as your email address), password (be aware of requirements), & challenge questions. Terms and Conditions are accepted when you click Create You will be taken to a screen that shows your account has been created. 2 The next step is to activate your account. You will receive an email that allows you to "click...to activate your account". Once you activate your account you can click Log in" to login to your account. 3 Use your username and password and click "Log on" to log into the application. On your first login you will be asked to: Review & accept the Privacy Statement Review & accept email communication 4 At the Applicant Dashboard you will find your account number at the top - record this information for possible future use. You will also find a message centre where important info is posted for you. 5 You will now begin the application. Along the left you will proceed through your application - in the MY PROFILE area. At the end of each section you will click "Save and Continue to Next Step". As you complete each section a check mark will appear. 6 You will begin with Personal Information. 7 You will then complete the application working through the remaining screens: Contact Information - "click to add mailing address", complete remaining sections Authorized Users - assigns access to up to 3 other people - click to "Add...Users" or "No...to Add" Citizenship and Residency Education - Remember to put all institutions you have attended and record that you are currently attending Bishop Reding. This will ensure that your academic history is uploaded to the colleges. Ensure you use your correct OEN and Bishop Reding student number.

Check your Academic Data on File and again after each module is completed to make sure it is accurate and is being uploaded. (2 weeks after a module) Financial Support - If you have sponsorship for financial support - the agency's are listed Experience - Record relevant job experience, test information or other activities related to your program choice. When done click "Continue to Next Step" 8 At this point the next section is MY APPLICATIONS Here you will be required to identify the date you would like to start college. Remember the college application works on the SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR, (August - July). There will be two years available choose correctly! 9 An application number has been provided to you at this point, record this number. 10 You will now complete the Program Choices section - Step 1: Click "Add a Program" You are able to apply to a maximum of 5 programs, no more than 3 at one college Do a "Program Search" by Program and College to choose each of your 5 choices When choosing your program be aware that programs may exist for a college with multiple start dates, or campuses - MAKE SURE YOU ARE CHOOSING THE CORRECT PROGRAM to Add For each program you choose you will be taken to the edit program choice screen and asked to provide further information for the program you are applying to (if it applies). Double check that you have chosen the correct program, campus, start date, etc. Repeat this step until you have completed applying to your college choices (5 max) 11 Once you have finished adding programs, you can complete Step 2: Rank your program choices. You can change the order of your program choices before proceeding by using the move down/move up buttons. When you have finalized the order click "Save and Continue" 12 This will take you to Basis for Admission - when done with these questions click Save to continue. Make sure if you are at Bishop Reding this year that you answer yes to "Are you currently enrolled in a High School course?" Click "Save and Continue to Next Step

13 You will now be able to request Transcripts - additional fees are related to this request. Students applying as a current Bishop Reding student will not need to request a high school transcript as these grades will be electronically transferred by the school board. Students not currently attending Bishop Reding will need to complete this process. Click "Save to Continue" 14 Next is the Payment Summary Page - This page displays the total fees required to process your application. You may print the summary for your records. Click Complete Order to continue to Payment screen. 15 Choose either A or B to proceed with payment. A - Process Payment in order to pay the related fees by Credit Card, Visa Debit, Interac Online. Your application will only be processed once payment has been received by OCAS. Complete details and click "Process Transaction". Payment is verified. Your application is now complete. You will be sent a confirmation email. B - If you are paying by cheque or money order: OCAS accepts, Certified Cheque, or Money order and in this situation click "Update". You must mail in your certified cheque or money order and remember your application will only be processed when they have received payment. Remember application deadlines! Once payment has been received you will get a confirmation email if you don t receive the email did you mail your cheque? Your application is now completed. Return to your application regularly for messages regarding your application or more importantly Offers of Admission Offers can only be viewed after they are posted by the colleges. You may accept only ONE offer at a time. You may accept only ONE offer in one 24-hour period. A confirmation of your acceptance is sent to your email.

CHANGING AN ACCEPTED OFFER If, after accepting an offer, you change your mind or receive another which you prefer, you may accept the new offer (before the expiry date). The new acceptance will cancel your previous one. Don t forget to: Look for confirmation emails Verify your grades Send transcripts (if required) Update your application if required On and after Feb 1, look for an offer of admission and Confirm it by the acceptance deadline Research financial aid and begin the process of applying Tell your Guidance Counsellor if you are taking courses in night school etc. Ask for help: Guidance Department On Ontariocolleges.com look at FAQ, Live Chat, email or call Contact colleges directly
