Introduction Organizations, large and small, leverage Notate to mobilizing their user's Outlook notes and tasks. Users can access and edit their notes securely from mobile devices. With the ever-growing Mobile Workspace access to this breakthrough productivity tools can now be protected for access from anywhere. With the power of the XenMobile and Notate, you can now expand beyond basic functionality by using Notate to capture rich data while mobile including handwriting, meeting audio, photos, web clippings and more, all from your mobile device. Purpose of this document This document is meant to guide administrators in configuring the below components; Notate for Enterprise App Config via the XenMobile Console 2
ios Managed Application: Notate for Enterprise via the XenMobile Console Add the Notate for Enterprise App to the XenMobile Server Adding Notate for Enterprise as a Managed App will allow for an App Configuration Policy with in the XenMobile server and allow for Apple s platform MAM capabilities to be leveraged. Use the following procedure: 1. In the XenMobile console navigate to Configure > Apps and click the Add button. 2. Select Public App Store, name your App, assign is an app category and click Next. 3. We will be only configuring iphone and/or ipad, so you can uncheck any other options. 4. In the search bar type in Notate for Enterprise and search, select the Notate for Enterprise App and click Next. 5. Repeat the above step for selecting the Notate for Enterprise app for ipads. 6. In the Approvals (optional), click Next. 7. Assign the application to a Delivery Group, this will assign the application as optional for the user and click Save. If you wish to have the Notate for Enterprise application assigned as a Required application, you will need to modify the assignment inside the delivery group? 3
ios Managed Configuration: Notate for Enterprise via the XenMobile Console Prerequisites 1. Notate for Enterprise License Key 2. The Notate for Enterprise must be an MDM-managed application with in the XenMobile Server. Configure the Notate for Enterprise App Config Policy The App Configuration Policy with in the XenMobile server will apply the Notate License and any additional policy configurations. Use the following procedure: 1. In the XenMobile console navigate to Configure > Device Policies and click the Add button. 2. Select App Configuration, name your policy and click Next. 3. We will be only configuring ios, so you can uncheck any other OS options. 4. In the Identifier drop down select the Notate for Enterprise App ID (com.shafersystems.notate.enterprise) and select it. 5. If you do not see it, select Add New, and enter the Notate for Enterprise App ID (com.shafersystems.notate.enterprise). 6. In the Dictionary Content you will need to enter your desired application configurations. There are a number of Configuration options, see the sample below; 7. Assign the policy to the desired Delivery Group and Click Save. 4
Notate for Enterprise App Configuration Key Definitions Key Description Default key-value pair licensingkey autodiscoveryurls exchangeurl useremail username Allows for synchronization and sharing and Notate policy controls from the EMM admin portal. Note: This setting is NOT required if your autodiscovery URLs are in standard locations. Server URLs are separated with a semicolon and no space. URL example: http://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/aut odiscover.xml;https://domain.com/autodiscover/autodisco ver.svc Allows user to synchronize notes with Exchange server. Note: This setting is NOT required unless autodiscovery is not possible for your environment. To specify the EWS URL use the format: https://server.domain.com/ews/exchange.asmx If provided, the user won t be asked to provide their email address. If provided, the user won t be asked to provide their username. disablepeerverification Enables the user of local/private certificates on the Exchange Server false allowiosemail A value of 0 disables use of sending notes with native ios email. Open In is still supported. allowannotations Allows the use of handwriting and highlighter tools. annotationcompression Handwriting and Annotations are compressed by default to save storage space. Values are: 2 = high compression, 3 = medium compression, 4 = no 2 compression allowgeotag User is permitted to automatically record location of notes. allowhyperlinks Allows hyperlinks to be active within notes. Safari browser is launched. allowgallery Allows the access and use of the device photo/image gallery allowvoicerecordings Permit the use of audio recordings allowcamera Allows the user to insert photos from the device camera into notes allowwebclippings Allow users to insert web clippings into notes. allowsharing Allow users to share notebooks with other users. allowattachments Allow users to insert documents into notes. allowtasks Allow users to manage tasks in Notate. SSClipboardIsRestricted Prevents data leakage from the app through the system clipboard SSPassCodeStyle Enables app pass code. Supported styles are: None, Digits, Alpha None allowcrashreports Enable generic crash reports without user data to be sent to the developer. App Tunnel (per-app VPN) o o Licensing key is sent via email when trial is set up or product is purchased ${user.mail} ${user.username} or ${user.userprincipalname} With the ios per app-vpn feature, you can leverage the VPN profile in conjunction with the Citrix VPN app on a XenMobile-managed ios device. ios End-User Experience: Notate for Enterprise Managed via XenMobile Configure the Notate for Enterprise App The App Configuration Policy with in the XenMobile server will apply the Notate License and any additional policy configurations. Use the following procedure: 1. On the mobile device, open the Notate for Enterprise app. 2. After launching the app enter a Passcode/Password if prompted. (This is policy driven and my not be required by your administrator) 3. The App Configuration will pre-populate the users email address and begin detecting the Exchange Server via autodiscovery. 4. The end user will be prompted for their email password. 6
