The System Requirements document includes settings that are recommended in order to utilize the TxEIS system at its fullest potential on any personal computer, including screen resolution and Internet browser settings. Currently, Internet browsers supported by the TxEIS system include the following: Internet Explorer 8 and 9 Mozilla 7.0.1 and later Safari 5.0 and later (Mac only) Screen Resolution Setup The recommended screen resolution is 1280 x 1024. Use the following steps to verify the resolution settings of your monitor. To set the screen resolution for Windows XP: 1. Right-click the desktop, and select Properties. The Display Properties dialog box is displayed. 2. Click the Settings tab. 3. Under Screen resolution, set the resolution to 1280 x 1024 pixels. 4. Click OK to close the dialog box. To set the screen resolution for Windows 7: 1. Right-click the desktop, and select Personalize. The personalization dialog box is displayed. 2. Under See also (located on the bottom-left corner of the dialog box), click Display. 3. Under Make it easier to read what s on your screen, select Smaller - 100% or Medium - 125%. 4. Under Control Panel Home (located on the left-hand side of the window), click Adjust resolution. The screen resolution dialog box is displayed. In the Resolution field, set the resolution to 1280 x 1024. In the Orientation field, select Landscape. Click OK. Task Bar Setup Windows 7 includes a feature that will enhance your experience while utilizing the TxEIS system. You are now able to open any open pages directly from your task bar. With the TxEIS system, this feature will allow you to easily access different reports, pages, and applications, all from one centralized location. This feature is disabled by default. To set the task bar to display open pages: 1. Right-click the desktop, and select Personalize. The personalization dialog box is displayed. 2. Under See also (located on the bottom-left corner of the dialog box), click Taskbar and Start Menu. The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box is displayed. 3. Under Preview desktop with Aero Peek, select Use Aero Peek to preview the desktop. 4. Click OK. Last Updated: August 2, 2013 Page 1

Internet Browser Setup Internet Explorer 8 and 9 To set up browsing history options: Under Browsing history: To complete the initial setup, click Settings. The Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box is displayed. Under Check for newer versions of stored pages, select Every time I visit the webpage. Click OK to close the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box. Select Delete browsing history on exit. If Delete browsing history on exit is selected, all browsing history will be deleted, and the cache will be cleared each time you exit Internet Explorer. If Delete browsing history on exit is not selected, perform the following to manually delete all browsing history and to clear the cache: Click Delete. The Delete Browsing History dialog box is displayed. For Internet Explorer 8 and 9, select all options except Preserve Favorites web site data, and then click Delete. 3. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box. To display Web pages as tabs: Under Tabs, click Settings. The Tabbed Browsing Settings dialog box is displayed. The following settings are recommended: Select Enable Tabbed Browsing. Under Enable Tabbed Browsing, select all check boxes except Open only the first home page when Internet Explorer starts. For Internet Explorer 8 and 9 only: Under When a new tab is opened, open, select the The new tab page option. Under When a pop-up is encountered, select Always open pop-ups in a new tab. Under Open links from other programs in, select A new tab in the current window. Click OK to close the Tabbed Browsing Settings dialog box. 3. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box. To add TxEIS to the trusted sites: 3. Click the Security tab. 4. Under Select a zone to view or change security settings, select Trusted sites. 5. Click Sites. The Trusted sites dialog box is displayed. In the Add this website to the zone field, type the exact Web site address that you use to access TxEIS, and then click Add. Note: If the Web site address begins with https, select Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone. If the Web site address does not begin with https, ensure that Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone is not selected. Last Updated: August 2, 2013 Page 2

Click Close. 6. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box. To enable downloads: 3. Click the Security tab. 4. Under Select a zone to view or change security settings, select Trusted sites. 5. Click Custom level. The Security Settings - Trusted Sites Zone dialog box is displayed. Under Settings, scroll down to the Downloads section. For Internet Explorer 8 only, under Automatic Prompting for file downloads, select the Enable option. For Internet Explorer 8 and 9, under File download, select the Enable option. Additional trusted sites are required for PEIMS. Click OK to close the Security Settings - Trusted Sites Zone dialog box. If any settings were changed, a warning message is displayed confirming the changes. Click Yes to continue and change the settings for the zone. 6. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box. TxEIS uses pop-up windows to display reports and other information. The TxEIS Web site must be set up as an allowed site. The Internet Options dialog box is displayed. 2. From the Internet Options dialog box, click the Privacy tab. 3. Under Pop-up Blocker, select Turn on Pop-Up Blocker. 4. Click Settings. The Pop-up Blocker Settings dialog box is displayed. 5. Under Exceptions, in the Address of website to allow field, type the exact Web site address that you use to access TxEIS. 6. Click Add. The Web site is displayed under Allowed sites. 7. Click Close to close the Pop-up Blocker Settings dialog box. 8. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box. To reset the zoom level for new windows and tabs: The zoom level for Internet Explorer can be changed at any time through the View > Zoom page or by using the mouse. However, TxEIS performs best when the zoom level is set to 100%; otherwise, some features may not display correctly. The Internet Options dialog box is displayed. 2. From the Internet Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab. 3. Under Accessibility, select Reset zoom level for new windows and tabs. 4. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box. Mozilla 7.0.1 and later To upload new data every time a page is loaded: 1. Open Mozilla Firefox. 2. In the address bar, delete the existing Website address and type about:config. 3. Press ENTER. 4. Click I ll be careful, I promise!. 5. The Mozilla Firefox preferences are displayed. 6. In the Filter field, type cache. 7. Double-click the first setting in the list, browser.cache.check_doc_frequency. The Enter integer value dialog box is displayed. 8. Change the preset value of 3 to 1. Click OK. 9. Confirm the browser.cache.check_doc_frequency value changed from 3 to 1 in the Value column. 10. Close Mozilla Firefox to save the changes. To enable cookies: 3. From the Options dialog box, click the Privacy icon. 4. Under History, in the Firefox will field, select Use custom settings for history. 5. Select the Accept cookies from sites option. 6. Next to Accept cookies from sites, click Exceptions. The Exceptions - Cookies dialog box is displayed. 7. Under Address of web site, type the exact Web site address that you use to access TxEIS. 8. Click Allow. The Web site is displayed under Site, and the Status is set to Allow. 9. Click Close to close the Exceptions - Cookies dialog box. 10. Click OK to close the Options dialog box. TxEIS uses pop-up windows to display reports and other information. The TxEIS Web site must be set up as an allowed site. 3. From the Options dialog box, click the Content icon. 4. Select the Block pop-up windows option. 5. Next to Block pop-up windows, click Exceptions. The Allowed Sites - Pop-ups dialog box is displayed. 6. Under Address of web site, type the exact Web site address that you use to access TxEIS. 7. Click Allow. The Web site is displayed under Site, and the Status is set to Allow. 8. Click Close to close the Allowed Sites - Pop-ups dialog box. 9. Click OK to close the Options dialog box. Last Updated: August 2, 2013 Page 4

To enable JavaScript: JavaScript must be enabled for the TxEIS Web site for proper operation of TxEIS. 3. From the Options dialog box, click the Content icon. 4. Ensure that Enable JavaScript is selected. 5. Click OK to close the Options dialog box. Safari 5.0 and later (Mac only) To enable cookies: 1. To open the Preferences dialog box, from the menu bar, select Safari, and then select Preferences. 2. In the Preferences dialog box, select Security. 3. Next to Accept Cookies, select Only from sites I visit. 4. Close the Preferences dialog box. TxEIS uses pop-up windows to display reports and other information. By default, Safari blocks pop-up windows. The pop-up blocker must be disabled for the TxEIS Web site for proper operation of TxEIS. To enable pop-up windows, select Safari, and then select Block Pop-Up Windows to disable the option. The check mark to the left of the option will disappear. To enable JavaScript: JavaScript must be enabled for the TxEIS Web site for proper operation of TxEIS. 1. To open the Preferences dialog box, from the menu bar, select Safari, and then select Preferences. 2. In the Preferences dialog box, select Security. 3.
