DPB 021 ROFIBUS DP SLAVE MODULE Connection lines Profibus cable This interface is separated over a galvanic Optocoupler. For fault free operation, the cable must be equipped with a termination resistor. Profibus cable specification: The profibus standard defines cable type A as follows: (See also http://www.profibus.com/support.html/ under FAQs.) Wave resistance: 35 to 165 Ohm at frequencies from 3 to 20MHz. Operating capacity: < 30 pf per meter. Cross section area of wires: > 0,34 mm², equal to AWG 22. Cable type: Twisted-pair cable. 1x2 or 2x2 or 1x4 wires. Loop resistance: < 110 Ohm per km. Signal damping: max. 9 db over the total connection length. Shielding: CU shielding network or CU shielding network and Cu shielding foil. Max. Bus length: 200m at 1500 kbit/s to 1,2km at 93,75 kbit/s. expandable through repeater. Applicable cable type: Example: Phoenix Contact PSM-CABLE-PROFIB/FC Profibus cable type A for fixed transfer rates to 12 MBit/s per EN 50 170, Type A Article-Nr. or Phoenix Contact: 27 44 65 2 Applicable Profibus plug: When using the DKL062 terminal block, hardware version V1.0: Only conventional D-SUB connectors and housings can be used. When using the DKL062 terminal block hardware version V1.1 or higher: With this DKL version, the placement of the profibus socket was turned 180 degrees as compared to the hardware version V1.0 so that the special profibus connectors also can be used. Starting from hardware version V1.1, conventional D-SUB connectors and housing can be used as well as the special profibus connector. For example: 1. Phoenix Contact SUBCON9 With 90 angled cable outlet. or 2. Siemens Profibus connector 6ES7972-0BB10-0XA0 With bus termination switch. On the upper side, an additional socket is located to which an additional profibus connector can be connected. Page 6 17.02.2009
Construction of the Profibus connection line: PROFIBUS DP SLAVE MODULE DPB 021 Cable type B Cable type A Baud rate < 500 kbaud > 500 kbaud R1 330 Ohm 390 Ohm R2 120 Ohm 220 Ohm Cable type: Profibus cable A or B All resistors 1/3 Watt Shield must be connected extensive to earth on both sides! The profibus resistance with spread resistors can only be set on the first and last modules. The Pins 6 (VP), 5 (D-GND) and 4 (CNTR-A) are not connected to the Profibus cable. Profibus cable: 2-pin, shielded. 17.02.2009 Page 7 a
DPB 021 ROFIBUS DP SLAVE MODULE Profibus Termination Both end modules in a profibus system must have a line termination. This is necessary to avoid transfer errors caused by reflections in the line. Page 8 17.02.2009
PROFIBUS DP SLAVE MODULE DPB 021 Profibus Connection To ensure a good profibus connection, it is necessary to observe the following wiring instructions: The profibus cable used must be designed for the transfer rate. The shielding must be connected to GND over the shortest route possible. To connect the individual wires, the cable must be stripped and the shielding shifted to the side. The insulation and shielding should only be removed as much as required. Caution must be taken to ensure that the profibus modules are connected to the same GND potential. Example e.g. DPB021 Insulation e.g. Profibus Module a 2 wire Twisted Pair Profibus cable b a, b...this distance should be as small as possible! Connect both sides of the shield to GND over the shortest route possible! 17.02.2009 Page 9
DPB 021 ROFIBUS DP SLAVE MODULE Diagnosis cable This interface is not electrically isolated. Therefore there must not be any differences in potential between the GND of the COM interface of the PC and the GND of the diagnosis interface, otherwise errors can occur. This can lead to damage to the module. Structure of the connection cable: 9 pole D-SUB socket 9 pole D-SUB socket PC COM interface Profibus module diagnosis interface The RxD and TxD leads must be cross bonded.
