Introduction We usually come across the situation where the requirement is to have higher decimal place or higher precision for the key figure values. Key figures with the data type 'DEC', 'CURR' or 'QUAN' are created in BW with a fixed length and a fixed number of decimal places. The key figures are generated with a fixed domain, that is, a fixed length. The domain depends on the type and data type of the key figure: AMO (Amount): Domain RSKYFAMO, 17 characters, 2 decimal places QUA (Quantity): Domain RSKYFQUA, 17 characters, 3 decimal places NUM (Number): Domain RSKYFNUM, 17 characters, 3 decimal places These values are not sufficient for many requirements. We have the option to create these Key Figures of Type Float (FLTP) but the Scientific notation for these Key Figures is not desirable for many users, usually like to see data in decimal notation with more decimals. In some industries, because the price per unit is very small, the company has to work with more decimal for prices, for more accuracy in their cost price or Gross profits. Sometime data need to be high precision after currency conversion as without that large amount of data can cause noticeable difference. Scenario We will be creating a new customized Key Figure of Data type Numeric (NUMC) with decimal place precision till 7 decimal places. Such Key Figure can be used in different scenarios where higher number of decimal places are required. This process will involve: 1. Creation of new Customized Domain. 2. Creation of new Key Figure using new Domain. 3. Maintaining the entry of new domain in table RSDKYF for the Key Figures. 2010 SAP AG 3
Creation of New Domain a. Go to SE11 and create a new Domain copying the existing standard domain. b. Provide the required number of decimal places for the new domain c. Activate the domain and collect in a request as you have to send this domain in other environments also before sending the new Key figures. 2010 SAP AG 4
Creation of New Key Figure of type Numeric with the new Domain a. Go to RSA1 -> Info object, Create a new Key figure of data type NUMC 2010 SAP AG 5
b. In the additional Tab of Key figure Double click on Data element c. Change the domain of the Key figure using change Sub object icon 2010 SAP AG 6
d. Change Domain to newly Created Domain 2010 SAP AG 7
Maintain the entries for the Key Figure in the table RSDKYF The change made to the newly created Key figure disappears with each activation and during the transport of the key figures. To overcome this change the field DOMANM in the table RSDKYF and enter your own domain here, then have to activate the key figure. The key figure can then be transported and is also generated in the target system with this domain. The prerequisite is that the newly created domain exists in the target system. a. Go to SE11 and search for table RSDKYF and give selection for new KF. b. The Domain field will be empty Change the table entry to maintain this Domain to newly created Domain. 2010 SAP AG 8
c. Save the entries in the table. d. Again Activate new Key figure after the above changes in RSDKYF e. To transport this new Keyfigure to other environments first transport the domain and then Keyfigure subsequently. Note: 1. The domain MUST HAVE the same data type as the one that the system assigned to the Key Figure in the standard case. The data type must not be changed when you assign your own domain. For example: If the BW system provide the domain RSKYFAMO with the data type CURR for a key Figure, you can only assign domains that also have the data type CURR. Note 2: If you already posted data for the Keyfigure for which you are changing Domain, you must convert the Tables. 2010 SAP AG 9
