HPE Web-Based Enterprise Management Providers software, herein after referred to as WBEM Providers software, is a collection of tools used to monitor the health of HPE Integrity servers and receive information about hardware such as memory, CPU, power supplies, and cooling devices. The WBEM Providers software operates in the WBEM environment. This document contains the following sections: Section 1, WBEM Providers Available Section 2, System Requirements Section 3, Problems Corrected Section 4, Problems Corrected in Previous Versions Section 5, Known Problems and Limitations Section 6, Product Documentation Section 7, Software and Documentation Availability in Native Languages Section 8, Documentation Notes Section 9, Reporting Defects 1 WBEM Providers Available The WBEM Providers software is a tool that retrieves information related to various hardware devices and report to the Common Interface Model Object Manager (CIMOM). The following is the list of the WBEM Instance and Indication Providers available in the WBEM Providers software: WBEM Instance Providers CPU Provider Memory Provider Environmental Provider Computer System Chassis Provider Firmware Revision Provider Management Processor Provider Enclosure/Blade OA Provider Utilization Provider LAN Provider VM Provider WBEM Indication Providers EMS Wrapper Provider LAN Indication Provider Supporting daemons in the WBEM Providers product are as follows: OpenVMS Event Monitoring Service (OPENVMS_EMS) WBEM Utilization Provider Daemon (OPENVMS_UTILD) WBEM Set Host Parameters Daemon (WBEMPROV$HOST_P) 1

For more information about these components, see the HPE WBEM Providers for OpenVMS Installation and Administrator s Guide. Note The CPU Instance Provider, Memory Instance Provider, Environmental Instance Provider, Management Processor Provider and Enclosure/Blade OA instance Provider are not supported on HPE VM OpenVMS Guest, since the guest runs in a virtual machine. For information about the hardware devices present on the underlying VM host, use WBEM Providers running on the VM host operating system. 2 System Requirements The WBEM Providers software is supported on the following systems, running the OpenVMS Integrity server operating system: HPE Integrity server blades - BL860c i2, BL870c i2, BL890c i2, BL860c, and BL870c Non-cell based systems - rx1620, rx2600, rx2660, rx3600, rx4640, rx6600, and rx2800 i2 servers Cell based systems - Superdomes, rx7620, rx8620, and rx8640 HPE Integrity Virtual Machine running OpenVMS Version 8.4 as a guest The following lists the software requirements for using the WBEM Providers software: HPE OpenVMS Version 8.4 for Integrity servers HPE WBEM Services on OpenVMS Version 3.0-3 HPE TCP/IP Stack Latest SYS and UPDATE patches Note On the rx2800 i2 servers, you must have VMS84I_UPDATE-V0500 or later update kit installed and running before installing WBEM Providers. On the BL860c i2, BL870c i2, and BL890c i2 server blades, you must have the VMS84I_UPDATE-V0200 or later update kit installed and running before installing WBEM Providers. Note The WBEM Providers kit is supported for installation only on the OpenVMS system disk. Installation of WBEM Providers kit on a non-system disk is not supported. 2

Note HPE recommends that you install HPE Systems Insight Manager (HPE SIM) Version 6.2 to remotely administer indications and instances. 3 Problems Corrected This section describes the problems corrected in this version of WBEM Providers software: WBEM Providers compatible with OpenSSL 1.0.2c. OpenVMS CIMSERVER exhausts bytlm and standalone server hangs. CIMSERVER Process becoming CPU bound. WBEM CIM server loops using all CPU and frequently ends with ACCVIO. When a network cable is disconnected from a system there is no link down or up message seen from WBEM. Physical Memory DIMM Part Number is coming blank on almost all the platforms other than the Cell-Based systems. 4 Problems Corrected in the Previous Versions WBEM Services (CIMSERVER) process crashes during startup when running on a HPE Integrity BL860c blade server containing a mezzanine LAN card. When the Utilization Provider process, OPENVMS_UTILD, runs on systems running the InfoServer client, it results in the unintended creation of many InfoServer disk (DAD) devices on the system. 5 Known Problems and Limitations This section describes the known problems and limitations in WBEM Providers software: In HPE SIM, under the Power properties in the Configuration tab, the "Manufacturer" and "Serial Number" of Power supplies for rx2800 i2 server is displayed incorrectly. In HPE SIM, the Cooling information is not shown in the Status and Configuration tabs for the rx2800 i2 server. Utilization Provider provides only whole-os workload utilization data. It does not provide utilization data for resource partition workloads and sub-os workloads. In the Blade, rx2600, and rx2800 i2 systems, the data retrieved from the CPU Provider regarding the CPU serial number is incorrect. In HPE SIM, while viewing the instance properties, the "Current Time Zone" is displayed incorrectly in the Identity section. The correct time zone information is shown as part of the "Last Boot Up Time" property in the same section. In HPE SIM, under the Instance properties in the Status tab, the "Create Date" for OpenVMS Process Information is displayed in the following format: yyyymmddhhmmss In HPE SIM, while viewing the Physical Memory instance properties for a BL8x0 i2 server blade, the "Module Type" for the memory 3

4 modules is displayed as "Unknown". In HPE SIM, while viewing the Enclosure instance properties for a BL8x0 i2 server blade running firmware version 15.05, the Enclosure Model field does not display the model information correctly. In HPE SIM, the collection and display of CPU and Physical Memory instance properties for BL870c i2 and BL890c i2 server blades may take longer (in the order of a few minutes). 6 Product Documentation The WBEM Providers product documentation is available at the following website: http://h71000.www7.hp.com/doc/wbem.html The following documents support this version of the WBEM Providers for OpenVMS software: HPE WBEM Providers for OpenVMS Integrity servers Release Notes Version 2.2-5 HPE WBEM Providers Installation and Administrator s Guide HPE WBEM Providers Data Sheets HPE WBEM Providers Events List 7 Software and Documentation Availability in Native Languages The WBEM Providers software and documents are available only in the English language. 8 Documentation Notes The following section contains additional instructions about the use of the WBEM Providers software. Changing the refresh interval of Environmental Provider The interval at which the Environmental Provider would refresh its cache can be set by defining the WBEMPROVIDER_CHASSIS_REFRESHINTERVAL logical. By default the refresh interval is set to 3600 seconds (1 hour), if the logical is not defined. The refresh interval can be set in the range of 300 to 36000 seconds (5 minutes to 10 hours) and should defined in terms of seconds. For example, $ DEFINE/SYSTEM WBEMPROVIDER_CHASSIS_REFRESHINTERVAL 3700 Allowing multiple instances of the same event from OpenVMS EMS within a 24-hour period When multiple instances of a given hardware or platform event occurs, by default, the OpenVMS EMS component allows only one instance of the event to be sent to a WBEM Indication Subscriber within a 24-hour period. This filtering is done to avoid flooding the Indication Subscriber with multiple instances of the same event. To allow all event instances to reach the Indication Subscriber without filtering, define the logical WBEMPROVIDERS$EVENTS as follows: $ DEFINE /SYSTEM/EXEC WBEMPROVIDERS$EVENTS WBEMPROVIDERS_LOGALL To restore the default filtering behaviour of OpenVMS EMS component, deassign the WBEMPROVIDERS$EVENTS logical as shown: $ DEASSIGN /SYSTEM/EXEC WBEMPROVIDERS$EVENTS
