Commercial Audio Newsletter touring solutions The complete package
Expandability Yamaha touring solutions is not a mixer-stagerack connection system. Although there are many reasons to consider a Yamaha Touring Solution for such a connection, the real power lies in the free topology. The system can handle any number of locations such as stageracks, amp racks, recording racks, mixing consoles - each with channel counts of up to 256 audio channels. Locations can be connected to the system in any combination in any order, without ever having to worry about programming Ethernet, Cobranet or EtherSound devices. We took care of that. Just plug & play. Integration. Yamaha Touring Solutions offers ofcourse audio connectivity. For one, eight, or a few hundred channels, no problem. But there is life beyond the audio... think about DMX light control systems, IP video connections, controlling digital devices with software such as Studiomanager, DME designer, Ampmanager. Not only from Yamaha, any Ethernet-over-IP connection is supported, for example to run QSC control, Hi-Q net, Meyer Sound Compass. Maybe add a Wireless Access Point (WAP) for wireless control of the devices in the system. Or connect to the internet with an isolated VLAN so it can never disturb the audio. That s integration. Supported by all Yamaha Touring Solutions. Redundancy Using just one CAT5 or fibre cable to connect a complete system has it s benefits: light weight, easy to set up. But what if something goes wrong... a cable gets pulled out, a connector fails. To prevent the whole system from being disabled by such a fault, a redundancy system must be built in. Yamaha Touring Solutions uses the most reliable redundancy methods available: Ethernet Spanning Tree and Link Aggregation. Both are in use for decades, in millions of applications all over the world, tested beyond imagination, protecting banks, airports and nuclear power plants. Start your gig without worrying about redundancy, Yamaha Touring Solutions offer it as a standard.
Flexibility In the touring business, logistics are a key element in high quality sound productions. Yamaha Touring Solutions are designed with just that factor in mind. Touring companies can store many different racks without worrying about network settings. Yamaha Touring Solutions automatically adjust to the network topology used, and connects the audio of the different locations without having to program switches and network devices on-site. Adding locations, such as an additional mixing console, output rack or recording rack can be done on the fly. A system used for a large FOH/MON/broadcast project with multiple input racks can be used for three seperate projects the next day. Quality How about quality? Yamaha has a reputation to live up to. The AD8HR recallable head amp is a key factor here. It s the same head amp as used in the PM5000 and PM5DRH mixing consoles, world wide accepted as the quality reference level for live audio. Then there is the digital interfacing quality. Same story: the MY platform s reliability is legendary. Yamaha Touring Solutions also include DSP power hidden in the DME devices used. This DSP is the same as used in our mixing consoles - should we say more. Use this quality DSP for speaker processing, additional GEQ s or even for laptop mixing. Open Yamaha Touring Solutions are based on either Cobranet or Ether- Sound, or both, using Ethernet. All these protocols are thoroughly managed open platforms, used by thousands of manufacturers around the world. For audio applications, such as Yamaha Touring Solutions, this offers the possibility to include other manufacturer s products. Feel free to combine any 3rd party product compatible with these protocols, for example use a BSS London, Nexo NXtreme or Peavy Mediamatrix to connect to a Yamaha Touring Solution. You can find a list of compatible products on www.cobranet.info and www. ethersound.com.

Example: medium scale live. FOH console: M7CL48. The M7CL48 offers all mixing and siderack functionality required for medium scale live applications: 48 mixing channels with 4-band PEQ and two dynamic processors for all channels, and 16 auxes feeding 8 matrixes with 4-band PEQ and dynamic processor on all mixes. The effects rack offers up to 4 digital efects, and up to 16 graphic equalisers. A laptop offers additional displays of the mixer s functions as well as a video link with the stage. In addition to the audio, video and DMX light console connection, the 100m fiber cable to the stage can also carry the communication link audio and logic by a 3rd party COMlink, or via a set of DME4io engines. MON console: a second M7CL48. A latop offers additional displays, and a video COMlink with the FOH position. Left side stagerack: 32 inputs with HR quality headamps as used in the legendary PM5000. Head amp control on the FOH console hardware. Right side stagerack: 16 inputs, 8 outputs with DSP supporting on-stage sub mixing. The racks are connected with CAT5E cabling, distributed on the stage to offer the most efficient connectivity.
Example: DSP i/o racks for the event industry This 16/8 stagerack is ideal for the live event industry, offering mixing DSP and connectivity starting at 16 inputs, scalable up to hundreds of inputs by simply adding racks. Connection of racks is a breeze, just one CAT6 or fiber cable is required to connect a location to the system, offering multiple VLAN s at all locations for audio and any IP over Ethernet service such as video, media control, light control. The racks can be used as distributed I/O for a mixing console such as the LS9 or M7CL, but they can also be used as stand-alone racks as the mixing DSP included is more than enough for any live job, including routing, mixing, graphic eq, speaker processing - even SPX quality reverb is included. User friendly software control surfaces can be made with DME designer on a laptop connected to any location in the system, or through wireless access point for total freedom.
