EPROM Replacement 1 EPROM Replacement for OmniScan@ Contrbl Systems Important 0 Before starting, read all instruction sheets that have been provided with your service kit It is recommended that you use an anti-static wrist strap (P/N 143 958) when handling PC boards or EPROMs Exercise care when handling EPROMs to avoid damaging them The EPROMs can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (static electricity) General guidelines for handling static-sensitive EPROMs are as follows: Leave the EPROM in the plastic static protection wrapper until just before it is needed Dissipate any accumulated static charge by touching grounded metal before touching or handling an EPROM Handle the EPROM by the edges Avoid touching component pins e EPROMs can also suffer mechanical damage through rough handling Use care when laying an EPROM down Do not place other objects on top of an EPROM NOTE: The main control board contains three EPROMs Option boards, if installed, also contain EPROMs The software version number of EPROMs on option boards must match the version number of EPROMs on the main control board in order to function properly Determine the Software Version 1 Turn the applicator ON 2 Press PROGRAM - t (UP ARROW) + INFO - VERSION This will provide the software version currently in your unit 3 Inspect the labels on the EPROMs included with your sewice kit The label format is SW# xyyy/n 4 If the software versions (xyyy) are the same, proceed with step 3 of Replacing the EPROMs 5 If the software version on the replacement EPROMs is newer, you must replace the EPROMs on all boards in order for your system to function properly Proceed with step 1 of Replacing the EPROMs Q Nor&on Corporatm 1992 All Rights Reserved issued 6B2 PrnloastSA lnrtructbnr48-198
