Intrductin Frm V7.0.3, the Attix5 Pr Server Editin (SE) Backup Client supprts Backup Operatr (BO) mde. This mde enables the backup and restre f all files and flders, regardless f the permissins that prtect them. BO mde wrks by running the Backup Client service as a member f the Backup Operatrs grup, rather than as an Administratr. Nte: BO Server Editin Backup Clients are supprted n the same Windws perating systems as nn-bo SE Backup Clients. Deplyment Using the SP Cnsle s Deplyment Wizard, yu can deply a Windws Backup Operatr SE Backup Client as lng as the Cnsle is set fr BO mde: Nte: The SP Cnsle must be V7.0.3 r later. There are tw methds t run the Cnsle in BO mde. Methd 1: 1. If yur SP Cnsle is pen, clse it and pen the SP Cnsle s settings.xml file fr editing. Default lcatin fr Windws Server 2008, Windws 7, and Windws Vista: C:\Users\[Current user]\appdata\raming\attix5 Pr\Cnsle Default lcatin fr Windws Server 2003 and Windws XP: C:\Dcuments and Settings\[Current user]\applicatin Data\Attix5 Pr\Cnsle 2. Update the <backupoperatr>false</backupoperatr> parameter t <backupoperatr>true</backupoperatr> and save the changes. 3. Open yur SP Cnsle, right-click n the Backup Grup fr which yu want t make a deplyment, and click Deply. 4. On the first screen, yu will ntice an additinal Backup Client type, Server Editin (Backup Operatr). Select it and cmplete the rest f the Deplyment Wizard. 1
5. Yu have nw successfully deplyed a Server Editin Backup Client that will autmatically run in Backup Operatr mde nce installed. Methd 2: 1. If yur SP Cnsle is pen, clse it and right click n the icn in the start bar. 2. Right click n Strage Platfrm Cnsle and select Prperties. 3. In the Target text bx n the Shrtcut tab, leave a space after the existing text and type b. Ensure that this is written utside the qutatin mark. 4. Click Apply and then OK. 2

Backup Client ntes Nte: The user that the backup service runs as must be a member f the Backup Operatr grup. Warning: Warning: If yu install an SE Backup Client that is in BO mde, yu will nt be able t recnnect and back up t an existing Backup Accunt whse backups were made in nn-bo mde. The same hlds true if yu install an SE Backup Client that is in nn-bo mde, yu wuld nt be able t recnnect t an existing Backup Accunt whse backups were made in BO mde. The applicatin title fr Backup Clients in BO mde is Attix5 Pr SE Vx.x (Backup Operatr) (where x.x is the current Backup Client versin). Help > Abut als displays (Backup Operatr) in the applicatin title. Nte: Fr Windws 2008 (including R2) and 2012, the backup service must be set t run as a user that has access t the Backup Client installatin flder. 3
Limitatins If the Backup Client service is run as a user that des nt have rights t stp, start, r restart the service, the Backup Client will be unable t update t future versins. The user running the service must have rights t stp, start, r restart the service in additin t having access t the installatin (default: Prgram files) flder. Recmmendatin: Run the service as LcalSystem. Aut-updating BO Backup Clients prir t V7.03 may result in a number f issues. We recmmend manually uninstalling BO Backup Clients prir t V7.0.3 and manually installing V7.0.3 t avid any prblems. Upgrading yur perating system frm Windws Server 2003 64-bit t Windws Server 2008 64-bit will break any V6 Backup Clients installed. Upgrades frm Windws Server 2003 32-bit t Windws Server 2008 32-bit will, hwever, wrk. BO Backup Clients d nt supprt Change Jurnal. Using Change Jurnal results in an errr: "Prblem iterating change jurnal fr vlume C:: Access denied.". BO Backup Clients supprt the fllwing plug-ins nly: Email Ntificatin Script WSB VSS Flder permissins are nt restred. File permissins are, hwever, restred. Task file restres are nt supprted. Registry keys are pened with read/write access despite nly read access being required. Crss-platfrm restres are nt supprted. WebAccess is nt supprted. T restre data, yu must be lgged in as the Backup Operatr user under which the data was backed up. The Backup Operatr Client des nt supprt nrmal data and vice versa. The SP des prevent a mix-up between Backup Operatr and nrmal data.
