Server is ALWAYS powered on, unless room is being painted, moved, etc. Call SSIS for assistance with need to power down server. Work Stations: where you do the input into the system. Station 1 has the Zip Drive for backup. SSIS Apple Left click once and press <Enter> and check date on screen. If there are two sessions open on one station, network will be slowed down and there may be problems with printing or entering information on that station. ********************************************************** Backup (Zip Disks) Each school was provided 6 Zip Disks (given out at a previous training) for backup: one for each day, plus an Off-site copy once a week. (That is all the District will issue). Be sure all stations are turned off. At station 1, type BLOCK. If the are no stations (except Station 1) showing, press <ESC>. o If a station number is showing, station must be out of SSIS before backup may be performed. You either go get computer out of SSIS OR is station 1A. o At the SIS Main menu, type DF and press <Enter>. o Type: J:\SDS\Statrun\ (and type in station number, ie: 1A) and press <ENTER>. o Press <ESC>
Place zip diskette in zip drive. At the SSIS menu type BACKUP and press ENTER. <F1> Use the Zip drive. <F1> Do both compression and place on zip drive. o <F2> Used for Off Site disk when backup already compressed. Type UNBLOCK when backup finished. ****************************************************************************************** Releases To show what release your server is on, type VER. To Load Release: At station 1, type BLOCK Type RELEASE. Type UNBLOCK when release is finished. NOTE: Release 236 has SE01 and SE02. Access to SSIS (CS99) New Programs come out under Level 0. Each staff member needs an individual access code. Print CS90 to see all the programs and staff member access levels. Or a faxed copy Logging Off When ever you leave your station area, you should be logged out of SSIS. Otherwise, what ever your access level is, anyone may enter and change or gather information. To exit the SSIS Main Menu, type Q (quit). Leave station at Windows Desktop until you close for the day. CL01 create an individual class for each teacher. CL04 enter the class number for each student in a class. MISCELLEANOUS Error messages on monitor. Do a screen print so you may read the error message to us. To do a screen print, hold down the <CTRL> key and press the <PRINT SCR> key. Ergonomics If you wear bifocals and notice you are changing the level of your eyes constantly, or your neck bothers you at the end of the day, you may need to take the monitor off the computer and sit monitor on the desk. Field 101 Name: careful not to change name. o If a duplicate student in, make first letter of last name, small letter. DO NOT use for students who have checked out. o Never type over a student s record once entered into computer. Field 156 MailAdd: Used when parent wants mail sent to PO Box or another address the in field 124. Field 157 MailZip: 1) Matches 156 address OR 2) If zip code in 124 covers two or more cities place 124 zip code here with correct city s name. Field 212 Records Requested: when cumulative records are requested by a school for a student checked out, you may enter date and school s name. Field 238: Bus transportation. Field 251-260 Local Use: may use for any information your school wishes to enter. Field 421 Non-standard Exit: leaving with a Letter of Recommendation.
