SSIS Newsletter is issued July-Sept, Oct-Jan, Feb-June with special editions for Fall Survey and Master Plan Programs Survey. During the school year various Bulletins and Memorandums will be issued with dates and program procedures from various District Offices. Server / Gateway: communicates with District through a T1 line and has hard drive with all your information on it.does it have a monitor of its own OR is there a Serv Switch, monitor is shared between Station 1 and Server? Server is ALWAYS powered on, unless room is being painted, moved, etc. Call SSIS for assistance with need to power down server. Work Stations: where you do the input into the system. Station 1 has the Zip Drive for backup. SSIS Apple Left click once and press <Enter> and check date on screen. If there are two sessions open on one station, network will be slowed down and there may be problems with printing or entering information on that station. ********************************************************** Backup (Zip Disks) Each school was provided 6 Zip Disks (given out at a previous training) for backup: one for each day, plus an Off-site copy once a week. (That is all the District will issue). Be sure all stations are turned off. At station 1, type BLOCK. If the are no stations (except Station 1) showing, press <ESC>. o If a station number is showing, station must be out of SSIS before backup may be performed. You either go get computer out of SSIS OR is station 1A. o At the SIS Main menu, type DF and press <Enter>. o Type: J:\SDS\Statrun\ (and type in station number, ie: 1A) and press <ENTER>. o Press <ESC>

Place zip diskette in zip drive. At the SSIS menu type BACKUP and press ENTER. <F1> Use the Zip drive. <F1> Do both compression and place on zip drive. o <F2> Used for Off Site disk when backup already compressed. Type UNBLOCK when backup finished. ****************************************************************************************** Releases To show what release your server is on, type VER. To Load Release: At station 1, type BLOCK Type RELEASE. Type UNBLOCK when release is finished. NOTE: Release 236 has SE01 and SE02. Access to SSIS (CS99) New Programs come out under Level 0. Each staff member needs an individual access code. Print CS90 to see all the programs and staff member access levels. Available upon request: Samples of Acceptable Use Policy for SSIS, Suggested SSIS Program Levels Setting, and a general information sheet for teacher s use of SSIS programs. NOTE: files were done on Word. Files may be emailed or sent on diskette for you to set up for your school. Or a faxed copy Logging Off When ever you leave your station area, you should be logged out of SSIS. Otherwise, what ever your access level is, anyone may enter and change or gather information. To exit the SSIS Main Menu, type Q (quit). Leave station at Windows Desktop until you close for the day. At that time, be sure to power off your station, NOT the server by left clicking on Start and following the directions. Enrollment Method 1 Student being transferred from another LAUSD school.
