DATA SHEET CISCO FAX SERVER The Cisco Fax Server is an easy-to-use, easy-to-manage fax and e-document delivery solution that helps enterprises integrate voice, fax, data, and desktop applications for powerful IP Communications (Figure 1). Companies using the Cisco Fax Server can efficiently and securely send and receive documents through fax, e-mail, print devices, or the Internet. The Cisco Fax Server increases employee productivity by automating fax delivery of user-created documents; reduces costs by eliminating manual faxing, paper, phone lines, and fax machines; and improves customer service by providing secure, confirmed, and immediate document delivery. Based on the Captaris RightFax 9.0 Enterprise Suite, the Cisco Fax Server can be coupled with enterprise messaging applications such as Cisco Unity software to create a powerful unified messaging solution. SOLUTION SOFTWARE RightFax 9.0 Enterprise Suite The RightFax Enterprise Suite is designed for companies that want to use the RightFax Enterprise Server as well as modules for IBM Lotus Domino or Microsoft Exchange, enhanced alerting and monitoring capabilities, and PDF document conversion. The RightFax Enterprise Suite is a robust document delivery solution that gives companies the ability to electronically send and receive documents from virtually any business application securely through fax email or over the Internet. Certified for Windows 2003 Standard and Enterprise Server, RightFax helps ensure application reliability, continuity in the user interface experience, and ease of installation and administration. SecureDocs Module SecureDocs enables e-mail to be sent using digital encryption technology, secure document transmission from sender to receiver, and protection against tampering. SecureDocs also provides an enhanced notifications feature that uses a certified delivery process. By adding a SecureDocs module to your RightFax Enterprise Server, you gain the ability to send a document securely, with the assurance that its intended recipient safely received the document. SOLUTION HARDWARE Recommended Fax Boards Multiple boards have been qualified for use in the Cisco Fax Server. The recommended cards include several versions from the Brooktrout Technology TR1034 product family. Brooktrout Technology is the market leader in intelligent fax technology, having pioneered intelligent faxing with the introduction of its TR114 Series in 1994. Hardware specifications for the recommended Brooktrout fax boards can be found at http://www.cantata.com/. Recommended Servers Cisco Media Convergence Servers provide highly available server platforms to host IP Communications applications such as the Cisco Fax Server. The server models that are recommended for use with the Cisco Fax Server are the Cisco 7815I, 7825H, 7835H, 7835I, 7845I, and 7845H media convergence servers. These servers support the full height and length requirements of Brooktrout TR1034 PCI cards. LIMITATIONS The following technical and deployment limitations must be considered prior to purchasing and deploying the Cisco Fax Server: The Captaris RightFax 9.0 Enterprise Suite and SecureDocs Module are the only two software modules within the Captaris RightFax 9.0 product family that Cisco Systems is offering at this time.
