Quick Reference: Local Data for WorldCat Local Introduction Libraries now have the full functionality to harness their local data local bibliographic data, local holdings data and local system number by bringing it to their WorldCat Local instance and making it discoverable by users. This quick reference explains these functionalities in more detail and what libraries need to do to take full advantage of the local data feature. Local Data Enhancements Once enabled, WorldCat Local displays results for your institution s local data. Here s what each function does and when it was released: Display local holdings record (LHR) data for all formats, including but not limited to volume, issue, call number, location, etc. (November 2010) Load, search and display local data, including but not limited to local subject headings, uniform titles, notes, etc. See the table at right for a complete list of tags. (The ability to load and display Local Bib Data was released May 2011; the code for searching Local Bib Data was installed May 2011; Local Bib Data was reindexed and available for searching June 2011) Load local system number to use as the unique identifier between WorldCat Local and your ILS/LMS to retrieve real time item availability. (May 2011) Search local holdings record (LHR) data. (September 2011) Note: Only your institution s data is shown to users.
