NOTE: The Kaltura Vide Package fr Mdle 2.0-2.3 and the Kaltura Vide Package fr Mdle 2.4 2.6 have been released in tw separate packages that have the exact same functinality. Overview f the Kaltura Package fr Mdle 2.x Kaltura's Vide Package fr Mdle 2.x makes it easy t add the rbust capabilities f Kaltura's pen surce nline vide platfrm t any Mdle site. The package was develped specifically fr Mdle and integrates with ther features and mdules, such as resurces and activities, s that users can uplad and embed media easily. The package supprts the fllwing features fr all users: My Media: users persnal media gallery, fr uplading, viewing, managing, and sharing media. Integratin as an external repsitry with the file picker accessible frm the text editr: embed yur media r media yu have access t, anywhere yu can authr text. Use the text editr t uplad new files t Kaltura and embed the media anywhere yu can authr text. Recrd the user's screen (desktp recrding, audi, and ptinally web cam) t recrd lessns, assignments, classes, meetings, demnstratins, tutrials and mre. Cmpatibility with the latest Mdle Stable Release, including displaying vides when wrking with the default Mdle Mbile theme Teachers and Admins can create: Vide Resurce: Easily add vide cntent t yur curse as a specialized resurce. Cnfiguring the Kaltura Package fr Mdle 2.x Only site administratrs can cnfigure varius settings f the Kaltura Package fr Mdle 2.x. Setting Up the Kaltura Package fr Mdle 2.x After yu install the Kaltura Package fr Mdle 2.x, cnfigure the package settings. Fr installatin, please refer t the Kaltura Vide Package fr Mdle 2.x Installatin and Upgrade Guide. T set up the Kaltura package G t Site administratin > Plugins > Lcal plugins > Kaltura package libraries. Set the cnnectin t Kaltura. Select yur Cnnectin Server. The default is Kaltura Hsted Slutin (SaaS). Enter yur Kaltura partner lgin credentials.(hsted accunt lgin and Hsted accunt passwrd) Click Save changes t save. Cnfiguring the Kaltura Package fr Mdle 2.x Custmizing Players and Uplader Widgets Kaltura's mst cmmnly used widgets include the Kaltura Dynamic Player (KDP) and the Kaltura Uplader. The Kaltura UICnf ID is the unique identifier fr Kaltura widgets. We recmmend using the default widgets fr the Kaltura Vide Package fr Mdle. Players can be created, designed and cnfigured with specific features and buttns within the Studi tab, in the Kaltura Management Cnsle. Fr instructins n hw t create, design and cnfigure a player, refer t the KMC User Manual. After yu create a player, yu can select it in the Kaltura Package Cnfiguratin page t replace the default players. Yu can als mdify the Kaltura Uplader widgets (als knwn as the Kaltura Cntributin Wizard - KCW) and Kaltura Presentatin Widget using the Kaltura APIs. Please cntact Kaltura fr mre infrmatin n using the Kaltura API r refer t the Kaltura API Dcumentatin. NOTE: The default widget settings shuld wrk ut f the bx when wrking with Kaltura SaaS. Cnfiguring the Kaltura Package fr Mdle 2.x Kaltura Reprts Settings is the base URL where reprts are hsted. Fr Kaltura SaaS, use the default setting. Fr each f the fllwing types Vide Assignment, Vide Resurce, Vide Presentatin, Embedded player used via the File Picker (fr vide used in the text editr) yu can select a player used t play back media f this type in the apprpriate drpdwn. Advanced Kaltura users may chse t use a custm player and insert the player s UICnf ID t use a player that des nt appear in the drpdwn. Fr Vide Resurce, check the Override vide resurce player setting fr the selected player t be used fr all vide resurces. Teachers will nt be able t chse different players fr their vide resurces if this ptin is selected. Fr the Kaltura Vide Presentatin resurce, the Kaltura Simple Uplader (KSU) is the widget that is used fr uplading dcuments. Yu can select an uplader in the drpdwn. Advanced Kaltura users may use a custm Kaltura Simple Uplader and insert the uplader's UiCnf ID t use an uplader that des nt appear in the drpdwn. The Screen Recrder is the applet used fr screen recrding acrss the applicatin. Advanced Kaltura users may use a custm KSR (Kaltura Screen Recrder) and insert the KSR's UiCnf ID t use a screen recrder that des nt appear in the drpdwn. Fr the Embedded player used via the File Picker (fr vide used in the text editr), select embedded player width and height. Advanced Kaltura users may use a custm embedded player and insert the player's UiCnf ID t use a player that des nt appear in the drpdwn. Fr each f the fllwing types Vide Assignment, Vide Resurce, Vide Presentatin, and My Media yu can change the Kaltura Uplader (KCW) t a custm ne. We recmmend this ptin fr advanced users nly. Click Save changes t save. Custmizing General Settings T custmize the general settings G t Site administratin > Plugins > Lcal plugins > Kaltura package libraries and scrll dwn t the General Settings sectin. Check the Enable HTML5 flavur t enable playback n Mbile devices. If yu are using several applicatins, select the applicatin name t be used fr data aggregatin in Kaltura. Click Save changes t save. In the Kaltura Uplader Plug-in screen, select the repsitry plugin name (ptinal) t determine the name f the repsitry that is displayed in the File Picker. Click Save. NOTE: Uplad files t Kaltura is the Uplad Media t Kaltura Repsitry name used in prcedures and examples in this dcument. Kaltura Media Repsitry: Kaltura Capabilities The Kaltura media repsitry cmes with a set f capabilities that can be set n Mdle rles. Kaltura Capabilities Terminlgy View Kaltura Repsitry determines whether users assigned t a rle can view the Kaltura media repsitry in the File Picker Shared Vide Visibility determines whether users assigned t a rle can use media items that are shared in curses they are enrlled in with an admissible rle, via the text editr. Curse Vide Visibility - determines whether users can use media items that were used in curses they are enrlled with an admissible rle, via the text editr. Used Vides are defined as media that was embedded in the curse and was viewed at least nce. By default users have access t Shared Media f curses they are enrlled in as students, while users that are enrlled t a curse as teachers r managers have access t Shared Media and Used Media f that curse. Custmizing Rles Capabilities Permissins with Kaltura The default capabilities assignment can be further custmized via Mdle permissins t include additinal rles, as well as fr creating special use-cases. My Media Each user has a persnal, searchable My Media gallery fr uplading, viewing, managing, and sharing media. Users are able t use and reuse any f the vides in this repsitry in varius lcatins within Mdle as well as acrss varius Kaltura applicatins in the institutin. Additinally, users can use this gallery t mark which f their vides will be available fr use by authrized users in specific curses. My Media is accessed frm the Navigatin blck in My hme > My Media. T uplad media in My Media G t My hme > My Media and chse a media type t uplad: T uplad media r recrd and uplad a webcam vide: a. Click Uplad media r recrd frm webcam (n the tp left) t launch the Kaltura Uplader. b. Fllw the Uplading Yur Media Using the Kaltura Uplader prcedure. c. When a cnfirmatin message is displayed, click Cntinue. The new media is displayed in My Media. T recrd yur screen and uplad the recrding: a. My Media The new media is displayed in My Media. NOTE: Newly upladed media is cnverted in Kaltura servers fr maximizing user experience with different devices and netwrk capabilities. This prcess may take a few minutes. While the media is being cnverted, yu cannt preview it, but yu can change the metadata, share it and use it. T search fr media in My Media G t My hme > My Media. Type the text yu want t search fr in the text bx. Click Search. The items shwn in My Media display nly items matching the search query. T preview media in My media G t My hme > My Media. T create a Vide Resurce In the relevant part f the curse that yu want the resurce t appear in, click Add an activity r resurce. In the Player Prperties windw, enter a name, select the player design (availability depends n cnfiguratin), select the player dimensins, specify the player size, and click Save. In the Vide sectin f the Adding a new Kaltura Vide Resurce page, click Preview t view the added vide in the selected player. NOTE: Previewing the vide is nly available after the vide finished the transcding and cnversin prcess within the Kaltura system. This may take a few minutes and depends mstly n the vide duratin. T create a Vide Presentatin Resurce In the relevant part f the curse that yu want the resurce t appear in, click Add an activity r resurce. Creating Vide Presentatin Resurces include *.pt; *.dc; *.axles; *.dds; *.dd; *.dd; *.pt; *.dcks; *.puff; *.lax; *ppt; *pdf. NOTE: If yu receive an errr while trying t uplad dcuments, please cntact Kaltura t make sure yur accunt is cnfigured crrectly. Wait until bth assets have finished cnverting: T check the status f the vide cnversin prcess, click Preview. T check the status f the dcument cnversin prcess, click Check status. When bth vide and dcument are ready, click Preview t synchrnize the dcument pages with the timeline f the vide. Yu can als sync after saving the resurce when viewing it as a teacher. On the presentatin widget, yu can sync slides t key pints in the vide using the Presentatin Widget cntrls. Play the vide r drag the vide scrubber t the selected place fr the selected slide/page within the dcument, and click Sync Vide/Slide. On the presentatin widget, click Save when yu are dne.
