Overdrive s new interface (or experience ) provides a simple way to connect users to e-books and e-audiobooks. Works with most modern browsers. 2
Find titles to borrow by browsing the book cover images or by choosing a fiction or nonfiction category. 3
Or search for something specific that you want, typing in Author or title. 4
On the book cover images, available titles have a dark book icon for an ebook or a headphone icon for an eaudiobook (green circles); those which are checked out and require a hold have a greyed-out icon (red circle). 5
You can also add a title to your Wish List by clicking on the grey ribbon at the bottom of the cover image, it will turn red indicating it has been added to your Wish List providing you have signed into your account. If not you will be prompted to do so. 6
When browsing you can filter by format, subject (genre), publisher, language, grade level, and ratings. You can also see only titles Available Now for checkout or see all titles the library owns as well what the library can purchase. Under Additional Titles users can make recommendations by clicking the Library man symbol under the book image. 7
Your emedia Account Signing in can be done either by clicking 1. Account or Sign In and then 2. selecting your Library from the drop down menu. 3. Enter a Library card and zip code from within the LVCCLD service area, which are required. 1 2 3 8
Once you ve chosen the title you want, click Borrow (you will be prompted to sign in with your library card number if you haven t already, see page 8 ). The ebook will appear on your Bookshelf 9
You can also get to your Bookshelf by clicking on Account once you are signed in. In your Bookshelf, you will see all of the digital items you have checked out. 10
When you sign in using the Account icon you will see your emedia options on the right side of the screen. Bookshelf: Shows all your checked out items Holds: Shows emedia items you are waiting for Lists: Shows your Wish List, Rated Titles, Recommended by You etc. Settings: Change your lending periods here 11
Now you choose what format you need to download the ebook in e.g. Kindle, epub etc., and you will see Confirm & Download. Make sure you have checked the correct format before moving on. You can Return the Title at this time too, however once you download an ebook you may be able to return it through your ereader. (This is not available for eaudiobooks) Kindle users see pages 13-15 Tablet and Smartphone users see page 16 For all other ereaders (Nook, Sony, Kobo etc.) go to pages 17-19 12
KINDLE ONLY Having selected the Kindle format you will see Download (Kindle Book). Clicking on this will take you to your Amazon account. You should sign in there too before you start browsing for ebooks. Kindle Fires can use the Overdrive Media Console app to read or listen to epub ebooks or MP3 eaudiobooks also. This app can be downloaded from the Amazon App Store. 13
KINDLE ONLY Click on the yellow button Get Library Book on the right side of the screen and Deliver it to your Kindle reader that is activated on this account. Then sync your Kindle reader using your WiFi connection and the ebook will show up on your Kindle. Under Your Account (top right) in Manage Your Kindle you will see all you ebooks (borrowed or bought), where you can return library ebooks earlier than their due dates. 14
KINDLE ONLY Library ebook transfer from Amazon acct to Kindle ereader via USB cable If the ebook requires a USB cable to transfer it to your Kindle you will see this on the Borrow screen. Note: First plug your Kindle into your computer before you Borrow the ebook. Follow the prompts to select your format and download When you get to your Amazon account you will see the yellow Get Library ebook, button (see previous page), under it you will see 1. Deliver via Computer, click the yellow button. 2. Next you will be asked which Kindle to send it to. 3. Pick your Kindle and click Download Now on the Left. 4. You will see a prompt on the screen (may be at the bottom) to Open or Save, click the down arrow next to Save and click Save As. 5. In the SAVE AS dialog box click on Computer. 6. Then click on Kindle and click Open. 7. Click Documents and click Open. 8. Click Save. 9. Safely eject you Kindle using the eject function on your computer 10. Unplug the cable from the Kindle and click Home, the ebook should be there for you to read. 15
Nook Tablet / Nook Color From your home page, push the n button then tap Apps. Tap the SHOP NOW link near the top of the screen. Type OverDrive Media Console into the search bar then tap Search. Tap Free then Confirm next to OMC. Go back to your Apps screen then tap the OMC icon to get started. Tablets and Smartphones Overdrive Media Console app All Android Devices Go to Play Store, search for 'OverDrive Media Console From your computer or device, click or tap the Install button. The app permissions are displayed. Click or tap the OK button to download and install OMC for Android. Tap Open to launch OMC for Android. Apple iphones/ ipads/ipod Touch Option 1: Install OMC using your device Open the App Store on your ios device. Enter 'OverDrive Media Console' in the search box. Tap Search on the keyboard. Tap +Install or +Free next to OMC from either the app details or search results screen. Tap Install App. OMC is now ready to be opened. Always use the OMC app to look for ebooks from your library. All Other ereaders Nook, Sony (no WiFi), Kobo The other popular format is epub which can be read on Nooks, Sonys and other ereaders. You will need Adobe Digital Editions installed on your PC to download this format and transfer to your ereader Write down your Adobe ID here, as you might need it to authorize more ereaders (up to 6) Adobe ID Password 17

You then need to set up an Adobe ID, and authorize this software on your PC. All Other ereaders Nook, Sony (no WiFi), Kobo Click on Confirm & Download and look at the bottom of your screen for the prompt on whether you want to Open or Save the ebook. If you want to read on your PC using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). If you want to transfer it to your ereader your device which should be plugged in to your PC prior to the Download step so your PC and ADE recognize the ereader, then click Open and on the Adobe Digital Editions screen you will be able to transfer it to the ereader listed in the menu on the left of the ADE screen. 19
OVERDRIVE READ The third option is the new feature where you do not need an ereader anymore as you can now look at few pages or READ the entire ebook in a new tab in your browser on your PC or mobile device. You will have to be connected to the Internet in order for this to work. If you prefer to read offline you will need to download Adobe Digital Editions to your computer and read in this software. (see page 18) 20
OVERDRIVE READ Firefox and Safari work well with the READ option. Internet Explorer 9 or older needs the Google Chrome plug-in downloaded to your device. It is free and the link to do this is available on our webpages. 21
OVERDRIVE READ When using Internet Explorer 9 or older, you will be required to download and install the Google Chrome plug-in. 22
OVERDRIVE READ If you choose Read the ebook will open in a browser screen where you will control the ebook by clicking on the area where you want to go as shown in the diagram to the left. 23
How to Place a Hold on ebooks If an item is not available for checkout you will see the Place a Hold button, click on it to go on the waiting list for it. button Enter your email address twice and then click the Place a Hold You will receive an email when the title becomes available. You will then have 5 days to borrow the title. 24
How to check out ebooks that you are on Hold for You should receive an email from Overdrive that your ebook is now available for download 1. Login it to your emedia account ASAP, as you only have 5 days to check it out to yourself. 2. On your Bookshelf web page click on Holds on the right side of the screen. 3. You will see all your requested items and what number you are on each list. 4. The item that is now ready for you will have a Borrow button, click on it. 5.
