Details 1. Obtain dwntime (n users n system) 2. As a precautin, backup all Cntrller-related databases (applicatin repsitries, CntentStre and FAP) 3. As a precautin, take a backup f all settings stred inside "Cgns Cnfiguratin" and "Cntrller Cnfiguratin" launch Cgns Cntrller Cnfiguratin frm the Start Menu take print-screens f all the current settings inside all sectins and paste them int a Wrd dcument fr reference purpses. Fr example, here is an example f ne f the screens that yu shuld take a cpy f: Repeat the abve fr all screens, taking print-screens f everything, until all infrmatin inside every sectin is captured TIP: In additin t the abve, it is vital that yu exprt the current cnfiguratin t a file. Click "File - Exprt As" When prmpted, chse "yes" t exprt decrypted cntent Chse a new flder (fr example, nt the desktp ) Save the file as Exprt_<date>_cgstartup.xml Keep this file safe (fr example stre in a sensible backup flder).

Stp the fllwing Windws services: IBM Cgns service IBM Cgns Cntrller Batch Server IBM Cgns Cntrller Java Prxy IBM Cgns Cntrller User Manager IBM Cgns FAP Service (if installed/cnfigured) T achieve this, pen the Windws services sectin, and stp all the abve services (fr example, see picture belw): TIP: The IBM Cgns FAP Service will nly exist if yu are using the FAM / TM1 functinality available in Cntrller. IMPORTANT: Make sure that yu infrm yur users that they must NOT try t launch Cntrller during this upgrade perid. If they d try t launch Cntrller, then their actins may/will start ne/sme f the Cgns services, which may cause prblems such as Technte #1504546.

Right-click n IBMCOGNOSCONTROLLER and click Shut Dwn : In additin, if yu have split yur COM+ applicatin yu may have ther Cntrller-related applicatins (fr example COGNOSVFP r perhaps yu have called it IBMCOGNOSVFP ). Therefre, make sure that yu shut dwn ALL the Cntrller-related COM+ applicatins (e.g. COGNOSVFP) befre cntinuing.

7. Back up the entire IBM Cgns BI lcatin. In ther wrds, as a precautin, create a backup cpy f the entire installatin flder (fr example C:\Prgram Files\ibm\cgns\c10): 8. Insert the disk fr the IF (Interim Fix pack) r g t the lcatin where yu dwnladed and extracted the files. In ther wrds, yu shuld have already dwnladed the IF file (fr example IF1 is dwnladable frm https://www-304.ibm.cm/supprt/dcview.wss?uid=swg24030419) and extracted the file (fr example extract CNTRL_10_1_win32_IF001.tar.gz using 7-Zip). 9. On the disk r in the dwnlad lcatin, g t the win32 directry and duble-click the issetup.exe file. Fr example:
10. Fllw the directins in the installatin wizard, installing in the same lcatin as yur existing IBM Cgns server cmpnents. The issetup prgram prmpts yu t allw the fix pack t create a backup cpy in the installatin flder befre cpying new files. Click Yes.
11. Upgrade yur Cntrller applicatin databases. Launch Cntrller Cnfiguratin and highlight the database, and click the play buttn. Click Cnnect and check the Current Versin cmpared t the Upgrade t versin. If the database s current versin is less, then click Upgrade t upgrade it: Repeat until all databases have their Current versin the same as the Upgrade versin. Optinal: If using FAP r Data Mart functinality, then: click the FAP DB ptin (r Datamart DB ptin as apprpriate) Brwse t a UDL file which pints t yur FAP (r Data Mart) database WARNING: This is almst certainly NOT the same as yur Cntrller applicatin database! Click Cnnect and Upgrade the database versin if necessary.
12. T return a deplyed IBM Cgns BI prduct t service, pen IBM Cgns Cnfiguratin, save the cnfiguratin, and then start the IBM Cgns service. In ther wrds, launch Cgns Cnfiguratin, click save and then click Start :
13. If yu have a distributed envirnment, repeat these steps fr all remaining IBM Cgns Cntrller-related servers. The authr f this dcument recmmends that an IBM Technical cnsultant is used t upgrade custmers wh have a distributed envirnment. 14. Start the Internet Infrmatin Services (IIE) Manager (the Default Web Site). In ther wrds, right-click n Default Web Site and click start : 15. Launch "Cntrller Cnfiguratin" and check that all settings lk the same as befre the upgrade. Mst imprtantly, pen sectin "Reprt Server". Replace all references saying "http://lcalhst/..." t "http://<servername>/..." where <servername> is the same name that was used befre the upgrade prcess was run. TIP: Take care t use the same naming cnventin (NetBIOS r FQDN) that was used befre the upgrade. Refer t yur printscreen backups that yu made

Check the Windws service "IBM Cgns Cntrller Java Prxy". Ensure that it is cnfigured t 'Lg On As' using the crrect Windws user (which is typically the COM+ user e.g. <dmain>\cntrller_system). 19. Start all the Cntrller-related Services (such as Cmpnents Services IBMCOGNOSCONTROLLER). The easiest methd t ensure that all services are restarted is t simply rebt the applicatin server.
20. Finally, upgrade Cntrller client sftware n each client device. Lgn t the client device as a Windws administratr Launch "Add/Remve Prgrams" and remve the Cntrller client (fr example "IBM Cgns Cntrller Lcal Client") Dwnlad the new versin f the Cntrller client frm the applicatin server (fr example "http://servername/ibmcgns/cntrllerbin/ccrlcalclient.msi"). TIP: There are three different versins f the client - see Technte#1371088. Fr mst custmers, CCRLcalClient.MSI is the best versin t use.
