Installation Requirements Document Detective 5.0 is supported in environments with the following operating systems and versions of Microsoft Office. Document Detective may be used successfully in virtualized environments, and the End-User License Agreement supports this scenario. Minimum Requirements: Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 Memory: 2GB RAM 1 Disk space: 125MB drive space for application installation System Requirements: Office 2016, 2013 or 2010 installed Adobe Acrobat Reader or other PDF reader software 2 Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable must be installed 3 Administrator privileges required for installation Installation Requirements Notes: 1 More memory may increase the scanning speed, thus making Document Detective faster. 2 Documentation is provided in PDF format. 3 Available directly from Microsoft and the Document Detective support site Quick-Start: Installing Document Detective Refer to System Requirements section above Installation Prerequisites 1. Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (if not already installed on system) Available directly from Microsoft and from Document Detective website 2. Document Detective 64-bit or 32-bit installer Available from Document Detective website 3. Document Detective License Files (2) Provided with your purchase or by request for existing users with a current Document Detective software subscription license 4. Administrative Privileges to install Document Detective Installation Overview 1. Download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable 12.x or later. Reboot. 2. As an administrator install Document Detective 5.0. Ensure to specify your license key file paths during the installation process. Reboot. 3. Launch Document Detective 5.0, and from the Administrator tab click on Keywords. This opens the Document Detective Keyword List Editor. Select Options - Deploy default keyword lists. 4. Click Start, type Document Detective, right-click the icon, and select Pin to taskbar. Your Document Detective installation is now ready for use. Detailed Installation Steps The following steps assume you have already completed the Installation Prerequisites above. 1. The Document Detective Installer must be run using elevated privileges. Tap on the Windows-key, type cmd wait for the results to be displayed, right-click on the Command Prompt result (cmd.exe) and select Run as administrator from the context menu. If you receive a User Account Control dialog asking if you want to allow this app to make changes to your PC, select Yes. Figure 1: User Account Control dialog. 2. Launch the Document Detective installer. The installer files are provided as MSI files and are available for 64- and 32-bit systems. Click Next. 3. Click the checkbox to accept the End-User License Agreement and then click Next. (Note: The checkbox must be selected to enable the Next button.) The EULA is also included as part of the User Guide. Figure 3: Setup Wizard: EULA dialog 4. The installation directory dialog is presented. Click Next to accept the default installation directory. You can also type a new path, or use the Change button to browse to a different folder. 5. Enter the paths to the license files provided to you from Document Detective Support. The License File ends with.s3l and the Activation Key file ends with.s3k. Click Next. 7. The Completed the Document Detective Setup Wizard screen is displayed. Click Finish. Figure 7: Setup Wizard: Completed dialog 8. In Document Detective, click the Keywords button under the Administrator tab, in the Tools group. 10. The Document Detective Keyword List Editor window is displayed. Select Options - Deploy default keyword lists. Next, click the Close button in the window lower right. Installation Troubleshooting Common Issues 1. Issue: File Associations for Document Detective Data Transfer Project and/or Archive Package file types (.ddproj and.ddpx, respectively) are missing. Fix: Reinstall Document Detective using Administrative privileges. 2. Issue: No Keyword Lists are available. Fix: Deploy the default Keyword Lists. Guidance: In Document Detective, click the Keywords button under the Administrator tab, in the Tools group to launch the Document Detective Keyword List Editor. Select Options -> Deploy default keyword lists. Next, click the Close button in the window lower right to close the Keyword List Editor. Additional Information: Some organizations tightly lock down the available Keyword Lists. For this reason the default Keyword Lists are not deployed by default. Installation Folders Two main folders are used: C:\Program Files\ManTech\Sentris\v3\Document Detective C:\ProgramData\ManTech\Sentris Configuration File Location Document Detective user settings are stored in the following folder: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ManTech\Sentris\Config\DocDet.DataModel.User Configuration.config Protected by the Document Detective End-User License Agreement Page 8
