The form will allow you to create Packets containing courses based on common student course requests, for example 9th Grd Honors, 10th Grd Regular w/geometry, or 11 th Grd college Prep. Packets can then be assigned to students through Class Scheduling, the Walk-In Scheduler side of Student Classes, or from the Mass Change or Add Course Requests form. The Course Request Packet form can be accessed from the Scheduling Process Configurations navigation tree. Add a New Course Request Packet To add a new Course Request Packet, click the Add Packet button at the bottom of the form. The cursor will display in the Packet Code field. Enter the Packet Code and the Description. The Grade Range will default to the grade range in School Options. To change the grade range, click the dropdown and select the appropriate grade range for the packet. Click the Save button when finished. Page 2
The new Course Request Packet will now be listed and will be highlighted. To add courses to the packet, click the Add New Record button. Click on the magnifying glass to open the search engine. Enter the course name or a course number and click the Search button. All courses located will display. Page 3
Click the course to be added to the Course Request Packet. Click on the Save icon. The course will now display. Use the Add New Record button to continue adding all courses to the Course Request Packet displayed. Change a Course Request Packet To change the course packet information, click the selected packet. The packet will be highlighted. Click on the Edit Packet button. To change the description or grade range, click in the field to be changed. Enter the new information and click the Save button. In the above example the description was changed to 10 th Grade Reg w/geom. Page 4
Add Courses to the Course Request Packet To add additional courses to a packet, click the Add New Record button. Click on the magnifying glass to open the search engine. Enter the course name or a course number and click Search. All courses located will display. Click the course to be added to the Course Request Packet. Click on the Save icon. Delete a Course from the Course Request Packet To delete a course from a Course Request Packet, click on the Red X to the left of the course you wish to delete. Page 5
A Confirmation message will display, click OK to continue with deleting the course or click Cancel to stop the process. Delete a Course Request Packet To delete a Course Request Packet, select the packet to be deleted from the display on the left of the Course Request Packet form. The selected packet will be highlighted. Click on Delete Packet at the bottom of the form. A Confirmation message will display, click OK to continue with deleting the packet or click Cancel to stop the process. Page 6
Assign a Course Request Packet to Students Schedules Assigning to students can be done individually on a student by student basis or by mass assigning them. Assign a Course Request Packet to an Individual Student s Schedule There are two options to assign individually to student s schedules. The first option is from the Student s Course Requests form. The Student s Course Request form is the form you would use to schedule for the next term, or for the next school year. The second option to assign individually to student s schedules is to use the Walk-In Scheduler. The Walk-In Scheduler is accessed from the Current Classes form within Student Data/Scheduling on the navigation tree. The Walk-In Scheduler form is used for scheduling during the current school year. Page 7
To assign a Course Request Packet, click the Course Request Packet button at the bottom of either of the above forms. The form below will open displaying the. Options are available to sort the list of in various ways. These options are on the bottom left of the form. Code allows you to sort by the Course Request Packet code Description allows you to sort alphabetically by the Course Request Packet description Grade allows you to sort by the Course Request Packet LO and HI grade levels Limit by Student s Grade Level will limit the displayed to those for the grade level of the selected student Click on the packet you would like to assign to the student, the packet will highlight and the courses within the packet will display on the right. Assigning a packet to a student outside of the packet s grade range will give a warning message, but still allow assignment. Click the Add Packet button to continue or Cancel to stop the process. The following Confirmation message will display. Verify the information is correct and click OK to assign the packet. Page 8
The courses will now display on the selected form. In the example below, the courses were assigned to the student on the Walk-In Scheduler form. Mass Assign Mass Assigning is done from the Mass Change or Add Course Requests form. Mass Change or Add Course Requests is accessed from the Scheduling Process / Scheduling Dashboard. Page 9
In the example below, grade 10 has been selected. Click on the CrsReqPackets button to display all Packets. The 10R 10 th Grd Reg w/geom packet is selected below. The courses contained within the packet display on the right side of the form. Click OK to continue. A message will display to Confirm that the packet chosen is the one you want to assign. Click OK to continue. Page 10
The courses from the selected packet will now display on the Mass Change or Add Course Requests form in the upper right next to the To now have these course requests area. Click the Preview Only button at the bottom of the form. A list of students who Would Be updated will now display on the right. An Alert will display telling you how many students Would Be updated if you click the Update button. Click the OK button. If the number of students sounds correct and the list of students is correct, click the Update button at the bottom of the form. Page 11
The courses have now been added to the Student s Course Requests form for all 505 students. Page 12
