Pro Tools Setup and Troubleshooting: Impact LX+ Pro Tools Setup for Impact LX+ First you will need to set the Impact LX+ keyboard to USB Port Setup Mode 3 1. Hold 'Shift/Mute' and press the 'Patch>' button (Setup). The display will say 'S.E.t.' 2. Press key A2 (13th white key from the left on LX25/49/61+, 22nd white key on LX88+). The display will say '0.0.0.' or '0.0.2.' 3. If you are using an LX25+, press key C3 (labeled 'Enter). Skip this setp if you are using a different LX+ controller. 4. Press key C3 on LX+ (labeled with a '-') (C1 on the LX25+) until the display says '0.0.3.' 5. Hold 'Shift/Mute' and press the 'Patch>' button (Setup) to exit Setup Mode Image 1: Setup Menu in Pro Tools Now it's time to launch Pro Tools. With Pro Tools open go to the 'Setup' menu and select 'Peripherals', as shown in Image 1. In the Peripherals menu, go to the 'MIDI Controllers' tab, then configure following settings: Image 2: Impact LX+ MIDI ports should be configured as per the above in Windows Type = 'M-Audio Keyboard' Receive From = 'Impact LX+ MIDI 2' in OSX, 'MIDIIN2 (IMPACT LX+) [Emulated]' in Windows Send To = 'Impact LX+ MIDI 1' in OSX, 'IMPACT LX+ Image 3: Impact MIDI ports should be configured as per the above in OS X

[Emulated]' in Windows then click 'OK'. If everything is configured correctly, you should see the Impact LX+'s MIDI ports configured as shown in Image 2 for Windows and Image 3 for OSX. Now your Impact LX+ is configured in Pro Tools. Image 4: MIDI CC assignment Features Transport Buttons The Impact LX+'s transport buttons perform the following functions: Loop - Used in conjunction with other buttons to activate loop functions << - Rewind >> - Fast Forward Stop - Stop playback Play - Start playback Record - Arm the transport for recording Image 5: Warning Message The [Loop] button provides additional options and gives access to the following functions: Loop+Play = Loop Playback Loop+Record = Loop Record Loop+Stop = Undo Loop+RW = Go to start Loop+FF = Go to end Note: The loop button has no function when pressed by itself Mixer Mode Functions Faders 1-8 = Channel Volume for the selected bank Fader 9 = Master Volume

Buttons 1-8 = Mute, Solo or Record Arm Button 9 = Select function for buttons 1-8 Pots 1-8 = Assignable Controlling Instrument Parameters It's possible to assign the Impact LX+'s control pots to instrument parameters in Pro Tools. Many of the AIR instruments and third-part plug-ins have a 'Learn' function. For example, if you right-click on a parameter in the 'XPand 2' plug-in you will see menu with assignment options, as shown in Image 4. Select 'Learn CC' then move a control pot on your Impact LX+ keyboard. That parameter should now be controlled by the pot. Troubleshooting If you encounter the warning shown in Image 5, it is because the Impact series keyboards are not M-Audio keyboards. Simply click the 'Don't show this again' option and then click 'OK'.

Troubleshooting issues with Impact LX+/GX First, make sure that you have registered the correct product. In many cases, customers accidentally select a product which is different from what they have and as a result, the wrong software is presented in the My Downloads section. You can check what you have registered, by going to the 'My Account' page and clicking the 'Product List' link. If you only see a number and a date, click on the number to see the registration details. You can find images which show the different Impact products, on the Getting Started page. Many of the most common issues which users encounter can be resolved by restoring the default settings for your controller. Factory restore procedure for Impact series controllers For the LX25+, LX49+ and LX61+: 2. Hold both Octave buttons while turning the Impact back on 3. The display will show the firmware version number, followed by 8.8.8. and then it will return to normal operation 4. Release the Octave buttons For the LX88+: 2. Hold the 'Split' and 'Layer' buttons while turning the Impact back on 3. The display will show the firmware version number, followed by 8.8.8. and then it will return to normal operation 4. Release the 'Split' and 'Layer' buttons For GX series and SE49: 2. Hold both Octave buttons while turning the Impact back on 3. The LEDs will light in a cycle and then return to normal operation 4. Release the Octave buttons If your Impact LX+ stops communicating with your computer and music software during use, most likely it's caused by a USB Power issue, as described on this page: USB Power and Impact Here is a list of potential solutions: - Connect the LX+ to a different USB port

- Try a different USB cable (start with the included cable if you are not already using it) - Connect the LX+ using a powered USB hub. Do not use a passive USB hub (a hub which does not have it's own power supply) or a hub which is built into a display. - Start the LX+ in low power mode. You can either, hold the 'Loop' and 'Record' buttons while turning the unit on (this is temporary, low power mode will be deactivated the next time you turn the LX+ off and on again) or by following these steps: 1. Hold Shift and press Patch> (Setup). The display will say 'S.E.t.' 2. Press key G#2 (labeled 'Low Pwr Mode'). The display will say 'O.F.F.' 3. Press key C3 (labeled '-'). The display will say '.O.n.' and the LEDs for the pads will turn off 4. Hold Shift and press Patch> (Setup) to exit Setup mode. If some functions of your controller are working correctly but others are not, please refer to the DAW specific Setup and Troubleshooting guides on this page: Impact Setup and Troubleshooting If you find that the LX+ has become unresponsive, check if the display will update when you move a control (knobs, faders, Pitch/Mod Wheel). Also try tapping a pad and check if the Pad LED changes color when pressed. If the display doesn't update to show the current value for the control you moved or if the pad LEDs don't change color as you tap them, please contact our support staff.
