Mdel 86A00-2 Hme Theater Extender 2 (HTX2) DESCRIPTION The Mdel 86A00-2 Hme Theater Extender 2 (HTX2) allws yu t extend yur hme cntrl t the audi/vide equipment in yur hme theater. The HTX2 cmmunicates ver Ethernet with an HAI IP-based tuchscreen and Snap-Link Mbile fr iphne/ipad. The HAI IR database includes ver 300,000 IR cdes and has a built-in IR receiver s that additinal IR cdes can be learned. The HTX2 is an IEEE 802.3af cmpliant Pwer ver Ethernet (PE) Pwered Device (PD). The HTX2 may be pwered via PE r frm the supplied AC Adaptr. The HTX2 is equipped with serial, digital, and IR prts as well as Frm-C relays t intercnnect with hme theater equipment. It als has a built-in web server fr simple cnfiguratin frm any web brwser. 1. Reset Buttn: a. Quick press and release resets the HTX2. b. Press and hld until the Operatin Status LED cmes back n (abut 5 secnds) remves all previusly stred netwrk settings. c. Press and hld until the Operatin Status LED cmes n and then ges back ff (abut 10 secnds) will default the HTX2 t factry settings. 2. Operatin Status LED: a. Slid red during nrmal peratin b. RS232 Prt: Standard serial cmmunicatins fr bi-directinal cntrl. Bauds are available frm 300 thrugh 115200. I/O Prts: The 2 I/O prts can be cnfigured t act as a digital input r a digital utput. Fr use with vltage and current sensrs t detect the pwer state (n/ff) f a device. Digital utputs are rated fr 10mA at 3.3VDC. Relay Prts: The 2 Frm-C relays allw cntrl f any device which requires a cntact clsure, like a mtrized screen r blinds. They can als surce and switch 12VDC fr pwer amplifier triggers. The relays are rated at 2A at 30VDC. 12VDC: This is a general purpse 12VDC vltage utput that can be used t pwer a device r sensr that is rated up t 250mA. IR Emitter: Cnnect the 3.5mm cnnectr fr each f the supplied IR flashers t the IR Emitter jacks n the HTX2. The IR flasher is used fr sending IR data t cntrl IR equipment. CONFIGURATION The netwrk settings f the HTX2 can be cnfigured by navigating t the built-in web server frm any web brwser. The HTX2 is shipped frm the factry with DHCP enabled. The HTX2 will accept an IP address and ther netwrk parameters frm a DHCP server n the netwrk. DHCP facilitate easy first-time setup; hwever, we recmmend that yu assign the device a static IP address utside yur ruter s DHCP range t ensure that the HTX2 will always be available at the same IP address. Open a new brwser windw and type in the IP address f the HTX2 t be cnfigured. The HTX2 Overview page will appear. This page cntains infrmatin such as the device s MAC address, current firmware revisin, and the number f inputs, utputs, and relays. Select the Cnfiguratin buttn n the menu bar t cnfigure the netwrk settings and serial prt settings. The cnfiguratin page is prtected with the fllwing credentials: User name: admin Passwrd: hmeaut 1. Yu can give a custm name t the HTX2 s that it can be easily identified. 2. T cnfigure a static IP address, disable DHCP by remving the check frm the Enable DHCP checkbx. 3. Enter the static IP address. 4. Enter the Gateway. 5. Enter the Primary DNS. 6. Enter the Secndary DNS. 7. If used, enter the baud rate fr the Serial Prt. 8. When all f the settings have been entered, click the Save Cnfig buttn. Nte: An HTX2 can be discvered n the netwrk by using HAI Autmatin Studi and HAI HTX2 Mbile Designer sftware. Page 3

Step 1: Create yur Audi/Vide GUI Pages using the HTX2 Mbile Designer Sftware. Save the Prject. a. HAI has prvided a licensed graphics and templates sftware package with the HTX2. When used with the HAI HTX2 (in accrdance with license agreement), these graphics and templates can be used in HAI HTX2 Mbile Designer sftware prjects that yu create. There are tw templates: ne fr the ipad (named GUI_GROUP_HAI ipad.grl ), and ne fr the iphne and ipd Tuch (named GUI_GROUP_HAI iphne.grl ). In the HTX2 Mbile Designer, right-click n the GUIs tab in the Prject tree and select Imprt GUI Grup frm the cntext menu. Brwse t the flder where the template files were installed and select the template that yu want t imprt. Once the template is imprted, the buttns n each GUI Page can be assigned navigatins and/r actins (such as IR cmmands, relay cmmands, serial cmmands, macrs, and much mre). Entire pages f cmmands can be ppulated by drpping a Device nde frm the Prject tree nt the GUI page backgrund. Yu will be prmpted t chse which cmmand types t ppulate. Yu can als drag/drp Devices nt GUI Grups and Pages inside the Prject tree. This allws yu t ppulate pages quickly, withut even needing t pen the page in the GUI Editr. Drpping a device nt a single page will ppulate nly that page. Drpping nt a GUI Grup will ppulate the entire Grup. This is especially useful fr vlume cmmands. b. When creating GUI Pages, it is suggested that yu create a landing page fr each rm that allws the user t access all f the devices in selected rm. The name f the landing page in the HAI templates is Hme. If yu have multiple rms that are being cntrlled, yu can create multiple landing pages, such as Living Rm, Bedrm, and Theater, each with access t the devices that will be cntrlled within that rm. c. The Hme page in the HAI templates gives the user access t all available devices. Frm each device page, it is suggested that yu create a buttn that brings the user back t the landing (r in this case the Hme ) page. In the HAI templates, there is a green Huse buttn n each device page that will bring the user back t the Hme page. d. When creating GUI Pages, at least ne page must have a buttn with the Exit GUI navigatin assigned t it. The Exit GUI navigatin is used t g back t the previus list in Snap-Link Mbile. On the Hme page in the HAI templates, the green Huse buttn will bring the user back t the previus list in Snap-Link Mbile. It is suggested that that yu place a buttn with the Exit GUI navigatin n each landing page. e. If yu have multiple GUI Grups (fr example yu have similar designs fr bth an ipad and an iphne), yu must name the landing GUI Pages (the GUI Pages that will be selected frm within Snap-Link Mbile) in each GUI Grup with the same name. Fr example, in the HAI templates yu will see that the GUI Grup fr the ipad has the same name fr the pages in the GUI Grup fr the iphne. The GUI Grup fr the iphne des have sme additinal pages that the GUI Grup fr the ipad desn t have; hwever, thse additinal pages shuldn t be cnfigured as a landing page that will shw up in Snap-Link Mbile. f. When cmplete, save the prject. Step 2: Imprt the Prject int PC Access. a. Open a PC Access Accunt file. b. Under Extended Setup, highlight GUI Pages and click n the green + icn at the tp n the tlbar. c. Brwse t the HTX2 Mbile Designer prject file (the ne that was saved in Step 1) and duble-click it. Nte that the HTX2 Mbile Designer prject will have the file extensin f.bwe. The Select GUI dialg is displayed. Select the GUI Grup that will be used. Yu will be given a chice f which GUI Pages will be displayed in Snap-Link Mbile. Select all f the pages that the user can access frm Snap-Link Mbile. In mst cases if there is nly ne HTX2 in the installatin, nly ne page (the landing page) will be selected. Hwever, the installatin might supprt multiple HTX2 units, s multiple landing pages (ne fr each rm) may be selected. If there is nly ne device in a rm, yu can add the GUI Page fr that device s that yu g directly t that GUI Page when the Remte Cntrl buttn is pressed in that rm. Page 6
d. If there are rms cnfigured in the HAI cntrller, then yu can add a device t the rm. Fr example, the user nly has a televisin in the bedrm, s when the device in being used in the bedrm, it will g directly t the GUI Page fr the televisin. T cnfigure a GUI Page fr a rm, under Extended Setup, click n Rms. Click the Add Item t Rm buttn next t an existing rm (r add a new rm). Select the GUI Page frm the drpdwn. Click the arrw in the Item clumn t select the GUI Page frm the drpdwn. e. When cmplete, save the PC Access accunt file. Step 3: Using PC Access, Write Cnfiguratin t the HAI Cntrller. a. Cnnect t the HAI cntrller. b. Select Cmmunicatins and then Write t Cntrller. c. Select Extended Setup frm the list f cnfiguratin items. Yu can quickly select nly Extended Setup, if desired, by right-clicking in the check bx. Then select OK. Step 4: Using Snap-Link Mbile, Retrieve Setup frm the HAI cntrller. a. Start HAI Snap-Link Mbile n the ipad, iphne, r ipd Tuch. b. Press the Settings buttn at the tp-right. c. Press the arrw next t the accunt that yu want t cnfigure. d. First, press Retrieve Setup under Setup. When the retrieval prcess is cmplete, press OK in the message bx. Step 5: Using Snap-Link Mbile, Retrieve GUI Pages frm HTX2 Mbile Designer. a. Next, n the Snap-Link Mbile Settings page, press Retrieve GUI Pages under Setup. Snap-Link Mbile will display a page indicating it is ready t receive GUI Pages. b. Using the HTX2 Mbile Designer, right-click n the GUI Grup that yu want t lad, and then select Uplad Grup t HAI App. c. A GUI Dwnlader message bx is displayed in Snap-Link Mbile. Press Yes t start the prcess. d. Once the prcess is cmplete, yu will return t the cnfiguratin page fr the Snap-Link applicatin. Press the Save buttn at the tp-right. Step 6: Access the Remte Cntrl GUI Pages. a. Press the accunt that yu just cnfigured. b. Press Remte Cntrl t display a list f the available GUI Pages. If yu nly cnfigured ne GUI Page, when yu press Remte Cntrl yu will g straight t that GUI Page. Page 7
