1. Excel definition and GUI (Graphical User Interface) You are going to learn how to use Microsoft Excel. Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program that people use to organize, calculate and graph information. When you open Microsoft Excel, you find this Windows. Study and learn each part of the main Excel Windows. 3

Cells Excel spreadsheets organize information (text and numbers) by rows and columns: This is a column. Columns are represented by letters across the top of the sheet. This is a row. Rows are represented by numbers along the side of the sheet. A cell is the intersection between a column and a row. Each cell is named for the column letter and row number that intersect to make it. To rename a worksheet: Whenever you create a new Excel workbook, it will contain one worksheet named Sheet1. Activity 2 Organize your own birthday s party in Excel program. Create a worksheet by each topic needed in the party: invitation, guest list, shop list, budget and so on. In this activity you have to create the invitation in the worksheet1 and change the name by invitation. Decorate it in a creative way and edit the necessary data. Use cell format. 8

2. Data There are two ways to enter information into a cell: 1. Type directly into the cell. Click on a cell, and type in the data (numbers or text) and press Enter. 2. Type into the formula bar. Click on a cell, and then click in the formula bar. Now type the data into the bar and press Enter. 9

Modifying Cell data For modifying the cell content just activate the cell, enter a new value and then press enter or navigation key to see the changes. See the screen-shot below to understand it. Select with Mouse Drag the mouse over the data you want to select. It will select those cells as shown below. 10

Modifying Cell data All cell content uses the same formatting by default, which can make it difficult to read a workbook with a lot of information. Basic formatting can customize the look and feel of your workbook, allowing you to draw attention to specific sections and making your content easier to view and understand. Use this group for change the appearance of your chart. 11

Activity 3 Type the guest list for the party in the second worksheet. Type the name guest list. It is important to take into account relatives and friends. Use font, font color, font size, fill with color, alignment, border line, and basic formula. 12

Activity 4 Type the shop list for the party in the third worksheet. Type the name shop list. It is important to take into account all necesary things for organize the party such as: drinks, food, cake, surprices, entreteinment, and so on. It is important to make a shop list for organizing the party and use the correct format 14

3. Data interpretation it is necessary in the school education to represent information using tables or graphs (columns, bars, pies, lines). Beside, being able to compare the graphs finding similarities and observing which allows to interpret the best way the obtained information. 15

Activity 5 Make the budget for the party. Remember that it is an important factor to carry out the party, the total cost of the party. Don t let anything go!. Use the math operations like addition, subtraction, division and multiplication where necessary is. Hip hip hurra, now I know how much money we need to organize a party 16

Vocabulary Click down on the picture and do vocabulary activity. Practice the vocabulary seen in class. Save the activity in your personal folder following the instructions by the teacher into first term folder with the name Vocabulary activity.
