The enlight Cloud Resource Monitoring Tool is an advanced tool which calculates the resource consumption of your Windows Server and generates an XML file. This XML data is then evaluated by the enlight Cloud Resource Calculator and generates a report on the costs based on your enlight Cloud VM's usage. This tool can be used to track the performance of their menlight Cloud VM(s), track the pattern of usage and to keep a watch on your VM's usage. The enlight Resource Monitoring Tool helps you gain an insight into the actual resource utilization of your VM(s) and system performance. This tool is easy to set up and use and provides a reliable and flexible way to monitor performance and server usage without the hassle of setting up your own monitoring infrastructure. Microsoft Windows: This guide covers the steps for Installation of enlight Resource Monitoring Tool on Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 edition. *Note: The first two steps for installation of enlight Resource Monitoring Tool are common to both versions. Steps to install and configure the enlight Resource Monitoring Tool 1) Download the tool from the website address above. 2) Open task scheduler Start >> Accessories >>System Tools >> Task Scheduler /Schedule Tasks
For Windows Server 2003: 3) Click on Add Scheduled Tasks 4) Schedule Task wizard will open, then press Next 5) On the Next screen, a list of programs will appear. Click on Browse
* Browse the folder where you have downloaded the tool and select monitor.vbs file. 6) Name the task (as it will be easy to understand) and set it to Daily. Press Next.
7) Mark Perform this task to Every Day and press Next 8) Enter the Administrator Login and Password (under which this task will run) 9) Check Open advance properties for this task when I clicked finish and press Finish
10) Once you press finish, the following window will open. Go to Schedule tab 11) On Schedule tab click on Advanced button. At Advance Schedule Option set Repeat Task to 15 minutes
*NOTE: Windows Server 2003 does not have the functionality to detect hyperthreading and multicore processors which is required for this tool. To fix this issue download the hotfix provided by Microsoft from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932370/en-us and install it on your server (this requires a reboot). Windows 2008: 3) Click on Task Schedule Library and click on Create Basic Task... from the Actions window
4) Enter Task Name and Description and press Next 5) Set Trigger to Daily and press Next
On Daily set Recur every to 1 days enlight Resource Monitoring Tool
6) Select Start a program under Action and click on Next Browse the folder where you have downloaded the tool and select monitor.vbs file.
7) On Finish window, check Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click Finish and click Finish. 8) On the Monitor Properties window, check Run whether user is logged on or not and go to the Triggers tab.
9) Now Edit the task you have created Under Advance Settings, set Repeat task every to 15 minutes and click OK.
