iv IBM Hyper-Scale Manager

Overview IBM Hyper-Scale Manager is a management server for IBM FlashSystem A9000 and A9000R. IBM Hyper-Scale Manager reduces operational complexity and enhances capacity planning through integrated management for large storage system deployments. Storage administrators can log in to the IBM Hyper-Scale Manager and use its advanced web-based user interface (UI) for managing and monitoring multiple storage systems. Automation and control of IBM Hyper-Scale Manager can be implemented through its Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs). Note: IBM XIV and IBM Spectrum Accelerate systems cannot be managed with IBM Hyper-Scale Manager 5.0.x. For these systems, until a newer version of IBM Hyper-Scale Manager adds support, use IBM XIV Management Tools version 4.8. What's new in version 5.0.1 The IBM Hyper-Scale Manager software package can be downloaded at any time from the IBM Fix Central website (www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral). For more information about IBM Hyper-Scale Manager, see Related information and publications. Version 5.0.1 of IBM Hyper-Scale Manager adds support for the following features. Mirroring Mirroring enables replication of data between two geographically remote sites. This replication ensures uninterrupted business operation if there is a total site failure. Capacity statistics Capacity usage and forecasts are now displayed in the charts from the Statistics view. Capacity usage and forecasts can be seen from the System, Pools and Hosts views. IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility is now supported between IBM FlashSystem A9000 systems. IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility is a powerful feature that enables migration of a volume from one storage system to another with no interference to host applications. IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility helps streamline operational processes that typically challenge traditional systems, including capacity over-provisioning (with thinly-provisioned systems), load balancing among multiple systems, and technology refresh scenarios (e.g. array decommissioning). IBM Hyper-Scale Mobility brings dramatic operational flexibility to data centers and helps clients address scalability and management requirements for effective cloud computing. CPU and Memory allocation per effective capacity Effective capacity Up to 3PB 3PB to 6PB 6PB to 15PB 15PB to 30PB Specifications Dual-core/4Gb Quad-core/6Gb 6 cores/8gb 8 cores/8gb 2 IBM Hyper-Scale Manager Disk space v At least 4 GB of disk space where the installation file is located v 76 GB free space in the installation folder. The default installation path is /home/msms/hyperscale, but this path can be modified. To determine the amount of disk space available, enter the following Linux command: $ df -h %DIRECTORY% Communication ports Web browser v TCP 25 (SMTP) v TCP 7778 (Backend communication with storage systems) v TCP 8443 (HTTPS supported browser access) v TCP 8080 (HTTP supported browser access) v TCP 8440 (HTTPS supported browser access for Cloud Integration)

v Google Chrome version 49 or later v Mozilla Firefox 45 or later Change log This change log summarizes the changes that were made in recent 5.x code level versions of IBM Hyper-Scale Manager. Note: New functional features of these versions are only briefly summarized. For a detailed summary of the new functional features of a specific version, refer to the 'What's new' section of its individual release notes. Version 5.0.1 (August 2016) Version 5.0.1 of IBM Hyper-Scale Manager resolves the following issues. Ticket ID PUI-7961 PUI-7948 PUI-7758 PUI-7750 PUI-7634 PUI-7633 PUI-7537 PUI-7531 PUI-7528 PUI-7478 PUI-7477 Description Fixed: A warning message is displayed about a missing file when you uninstall Hyper-Scale Manager, although the uninstall completes successfully. Fixed: In rare cases, incorrect statistics data might be displayed on the Dashboard. Fixed: When a system is shutting down, the Manager Configuration from the Inspector displays the status as Booting. Fixed: The parameters of a User Group are not updated when the mapping of a Host or Cluster are modified. In other words, the Host and Cluster mappings are updated, but the User Group details remain the same or may even lose information. Fixed: Sorting the Domain table by LDAP Domain ID doesn't work. Fixed: When scrolling to sync between duplicate statistics graphs, the time sync lock doesn't work. Fixed: If a Host is removed from a Cluster, the number of Hosts in the Cluster is not updated in the Volume Mapping form. Fixed: When more than 2 systems that currently generate I/O operations are monitored by the server, clicking the Max or Min links from the IOPS (total) display on the Dashboard, or clicking the system links, displays Historic IOPS from Last Hour range with no results. Fixed: Navigating from the Dashboard by clicking on IOPS (total) or Latency (avg) may display statistics for all of the systems in your inventory, rather than only for the active systems. Fixed: When you add a statistics graph chart for comparison of historic statistics, the graphs are shown as locked, but are actually unlocked. Fixed: Occasionally, different time ranges are displayed when you add a statistics graph chart for comparison. Overview 3

Version 5.0 (April 2016) Version 5.0 of IBM Hyper-Scale Manager introduced a brand new user interface (UI) from which one or more supported IBM storage systems can be managed and monitored via a web browser. Fixes in version 5.0: Ticket ID UI-265713 Description Fixed: Removed users are still able to create consistency groups. Fixes and features of earlier versions Supported storage systems IBM Hyper-Scale Manager version 5.0.1 includes all the features and fixes that were included in previous 5.x versions. To obtain information regarding previously introduced features or issues that were resolved in previous versions, see the PDF publications page on IBM Knowledge Center (ibm.com /support/knowledgecenter/stjkmm). IBM Hyper-Scale Manager version 5.0.1 supports the following storage systems. Storage system IBM FlashSystem A9000 IBM FlashSystem A9000R Microcode version 12.0.0.x and 12.0.1.x 12.0.0.x and 12.0.1.x Note: IBM XIV and IBM Spectrum Accelerate systems cannot be managed with IBM Hyper-Scale Manager 5.0.x. Known issues Following are the known issues in IBM Hyper-Scale Manager version 5.0.1, along with possible solutions or workarounds (if available). Ticket ID PUI-8869 PUI-8861 PUI-8840 PUI-8834 PUI-8808 PUI-8750 PUI-8735 PUI-8592 PUI-8560 PUI-8455 PUI-7609 Description Logging in to the UI with the wrong credentials will forever block the user from using the same credentials. Workaround: From the sidebar, choose Management Server > Manager Configuration. Then choose Re-authenticate all Users from the Actions > Inventory menu. When mirroring multiple Volumes, the remote System field is marked as "Not monitored". Workaround: No workaround is currently available. If the login user is not defined on the destination system when you Create Mirror, the destination Domain/Pool fields are empty. Workaround: Define the login user on both the source and destination systems. A system error is displayed during Create Mirror when the Volume belongs to a Domain but the target does not. Workaround: No workaround is currently available. When Capacity statistics data is collected over a 3-day interval (the minimum number of days for collecting data for Capacity graphs), the graphs with the forecast are not shown. Workaround: No workaround is currently available. The last data point on the Capacity statistics forecast graph is greater than the System's physical size. Workaround: No workaround is currently available. The Capacity statistics interval between the first date of the historical data displayed and the last date of the forecast data displayed is not accurate. Workaround: No workaround is currently available. When you select Last Month as the Range on a Capacity statistics graph, the first day of the month is not displayed on the x-axis. Workaround: The tooltip for this day displays the correct data. The Host and LUN dialog box in the Volume Mapping form does not close when you click on the "x". Workaround: Select Cluster in the capsule before clicking Create Mapping. The Change Role and Switch Role mirroring actions are not available in mass configurations. Workaround: No workaround is currently available. The System status alert panel does not update its status from Unprotected-Rebuilding, but remains Unprotected. Overview 5
