9 New Features and Enhancements Learn about the new features and enhancements in the LCMS 9.3 release. Enable Auto-Numbering for PDF Export Enable auto-numbering capability when exporting course content to PDF. Administrators can enable a system setting that turns on auto-numbering capability for course content that is exported to PDF. The Enable Auto Numbering setting on the System Settings screen (accessible by selecting the System Settings link in the Site Manager category of the Learning Portal) controls whether the auto-numbering function for exporting content to PDF is enabled for the following objects: v Course v Module v Learning Object v Group v Topic In the General view for an object, users can enable auto-numbering capability by checking the Auto Number:enabled box. They can also specify "pattern" and "start" parameters for the auto-numbering function by entering the values in the corresponding fields. Figure 1. Auto-Numbering Properties: General View Configure Default Renderings by Content Element type Learn about new default rendering for content element types. Premier now allows the setting of a default rendering for each content element type. The default rendering that was previously selected by choosing the Default Rendering option is now named Classic. Upon upgrade or a new installation of the LCMS, Classic becomes the default rendering for all content element types. Copyright IBM Corp

Configure a Default Rendering for a Content Element Type Any newly-created content element type, or any content element type that has Default Rendering selected, is now changed to Use Current Default. When a user selects Use Current Default in the General view for a content element type, LCMS dynamically changes the default rendering in the Rendering drop-down list to the configured rendering on the Element Type Configuration screen. The default rendering displays as Use Current Default in General view and shows the configured default for the content element type in parenthesis, for example Use Current Default (Classic) or Use Current Default (Carousel). The following image depicts the rendering options for an instance of a Slideshow content element type with the Use Current Default (Classic) rendering option being the configured default. Figure 3. Select Rendering for an Instance of a Content Element Type Note: When you select a rendering option from the Rendering drop-down list, it is important to remember that the rendering applies only to that specific piece of content, and not the content element type as a whole. The LMCS uses the selected rendering option in the Rendering drop-down list to display the specific content element type when it is exported or delivered. All other instances of the content element type continue to use the configured rendering default. If the configured default rendering is changed (for example, from "Classic" to "Carousel" for a Slideshow content element type) on the Element Type Configuration screen, the default rendering option also changes in the General view for the content element type, as depicted in the following image. 2 IBM Kenexa LCMS Premier on Cloud: Release Notes Version 9.3

New Default Rendering Configuration and General View Option Forced Page Count Capability Added to PDF Template Editor Select an option in the PDF template editor to force page count in a PDF. Users can now select from a list of options in the LCMS Premier PDF template editor to control the number of pages in a page-sequence. This feature applies to course, module, and learning object cover pages and is accessible in the General Settingssection of the PDF template editor. Users can select from five new Force Page Count parameters: Table 1. Force Page Count Parameters Parameter Accessible through... 12 Check for Updates to User metadata A new system setting is available that enables checks for updates to user metadata values before delivery of the content for a AICC launch request. Administrators turn on the AICC Launch - User Metadata Update setting on the System Settings screen to enable checks for updates to user metadata. The checks determine whether to apply updated metadata values to a user's profile before delivery of the requested content. The user's metadata is presented as an argument to the AICC launch URL request. The metadata is then updated based on the values that are passed in the AICC launch URL. The following example shows a AICC URL that contains metadata: Sample URL: AICC_URL= &AICC_sid=426A E837F9C FD&x=124 &aicc_parms=[{"id":"9ebf e7ed1de fd", "value":"value1,value2","sequence":"10"},{"id":"9ebf e7ed1de fd", "value":"value2","sequence":"20"},{"id":"9ebf e7ed1ef fe", "value":"new"},{"id":"9ebf e7ed31a ", "value":"newtest"}] Subsequent AICC launch requests for the initiation of the same user session use the same metadata that was "refreshed" when the initial session was established. The default state for the AICC Launch - User Metadata Update setting is Off (do not update user metadata). HTML5 Media Element Rendering Create an HTML5-based rendering of the Media content element type. When authoring a Media element, users can now select the HTML5 media player as an option in the Player drop-down list in the Parameters window (accessible by selecting the Advanced Parameters button in Source view). The HTML5 media player provides native audio and video functions that eliminate the need to install a browser plug-in to deliver audio and video content to a Web page. Figure 5. 13 As with the other media players that the LCMS supports, you can customize the functions of the HTML5 media player through the Parameters window by configuring the media and setting parameters. The HTML5 player supports the following media types and browsers: Table 2.
