Abut Yur Telephne Abut Scrlling and Navigatin Use the Up and Dwn navigatin arrws t scrll up r dwn thrugh lists. Ntice each line is highlighted as yu scrll t it. Selecting Names, Numbers, r Features When yu scrll t a line n the display, that line is highlighted in black with white letters. This means yu can nw take an actin with that line using a sftkey at the bttm f the screen r the OK buttn. Fr example, when yu highlight a persn r place in yur Cntacts list, lifting the handset and pressing the Call sftkey places a call t that persn r lcatin. Starting the Phne - the Main Menu Use the Main Menu t select functins prgrammed n the phne, fr example, a frequently-used telephne number, a Directry functin, site-related infrmatin, r a specific Web page. Cnventins Used in the Prcedure Descriptins Cnventins Feature and Feature xxxxx LWC CnLWC AutCB Timer {handset tnes} Each f these represents a buttn that has a feature assigned t it. The buttn is labeled with the feature name, smetimes fllwed by an extensin number (shwn as xxxxx ) r a persn's name. Infrmatin that is ffset represents the display screen. The secnd line appearing n the display will mst likely list the features yu can access with the sftkeys. The tne that appears in curly qutes after a step, such as {dial tne}, indicates what yu shuld hear frm yur handset (r speakerphne) after successfully perfrming that step. Special Instructins Use the fllwing special instructins fr perating yur telephne. The first time yu use these prcedures, yu will need t custmize them fr yurself by btaining the relevant infrmatin frm yur system manager. T perate a feature, yu must have the handset ff-hk r the speaker r speakerphne n unless therwise nted. If yu receive anintercept tne (high-pitched, alternating high and lw tne) while attempting t perate any feature, yu have taken t much time t cmplete a prcedural step r have made a dialing errr. Hang up, get dial tne, and return t Step 1. Make a Call Feature Finder Prvides prcedures fr making a call. Make a Call T make a call: 1. Lift the handset. 2. Dial the number yu want t call. The call is placed. T call a persn frm the Cntacts list: 1. Press Cntacts. 2. Select the persn r number yu want t call. 3. Lift the handset. 4. Press Call r OK. T call a persn frm the directry list: 1. Frm the Main Menu, select the Directry. 2. Use the dialpad keys t spell the name r place yu want t call. 3. When yu see the name yu want, lift the handset. 4. Press Call r OK. The call is placed. Tnes and Their Meanings Ringing tnes are prduced by an incming call. Handset tnes are thse which yu hear thrugh the handset. Ringing Tnes 1 ring - A call frm anther extensin. 2 rings - A call frm utside r frm the attendant. 3 rings - A pririty call frm anther extensin, r frm an Autmatic Callback call yu placed. ring-ping (half ring) - A call redirected frm yur telephne t anther because Send All Calls r Call Frwarding All Calls is active. Handset Tnes busy signal - A lw-pitched tne repeated 60 times a minute; indicates the number dialed is in use. call waiting ringback tne - A ringback tne with a lwer-pitched signal at the end; indicates that the extensin called is busy, but the called party has been given a call waiting tne. call waiting tne - One, tw, r three beeps f high-pitched tne, nt repeated; indicates an incming call is waiting t be answered. Number f beeps designates the surce: 1 fr an internal call, 2 fr an utside r attendant call, 3 fr a pririty call. cnfirmatin tne - Three shrt bursts f tne; indicates a feature activatin r cancellatin has been accepted. cverage tne - One shrt burst f tne; indicates yur call will be sent t anther extensin t be answered by a cvering user. dial tne - A cntinuus tne; indicates dialing can begin. intercept/time-ut tne - An alternating high and lw tne; indicates a dialing errr, a denial f the service requested, r a failure t dial within a preset interval (usually 10 secnds) after lifting the handset r dialing the previus digit. recall dial tne - Three shrt bursts f tne fllwed by a steady dial tne; indicates the feature request has been accepted and dialing can begin. rerder tne - A fast busy tne repeated 120 times a minute; indicates all trunks are busy. ringback tne - A lw-pitched tne repeated 15 times a minute; indicates the telephne dialed is being rung. Trubleshting Prblem Slutin A feature des nt wrk as nted in the bk. 1. Reread the prcedure and try again. 2. Fr many features yu must lift the handset befre yu can use the feature. 3. Redirectin culd be t the extensin f a receptinist, secretary, c-wrker, AUDIX, r message center. It can be a cmplete r partial phne number, an extensin number, r a trunk r feature cde. Once prgrammed, a number can be accessed by first dialing the list, then the list item digit(s) under which it is stred; if the number is stred n an AD xxxxx buttn, the number can be accessed by simply pressing that buttn. switch The device that makes cnnectins fr all vice and data calls fr a netwrk, and als cntains sftware fr features. Als knwn as a system, switching system, r ECS (Enterprise Cmmunicatins Server). system list One f the fur types f Abbreviated Dialing lists; prgrammable nly by the system manager.
