Befre Yu Begin Prerequisites This dcument prvides all f the infrmatin related t installing a SAS 9.4 DVD Sftware planning rder n z/os systems fr which yu have purchased licenses. Please review this dcument in its entirety. Be sure t review each f the tpics in the Prerequisites and Overview sectins befre beginning yur installatin. System Requirements Cnfirm that yur system meets the minimum requirements by referring t the system requirements frm the SAS 9.4 Install Center Dcumentatin web site (http://supprt.sas.cm/dcumentatin/installcenter/94/index.html) and selecting Dcumentatin fr SAS 9.4 Installatin n z/os. Installatin Alert Ntes On the http://supprt.sas.cm/ntes/index.html web page, select Outstanding Alert Status Installatin Prblems. Select the Results Filter tab, and then select z/os as the perating system frm the Operating System drp-dwn list. Then press Enter. Review the Installatin Alert Ntes that are listed t see if they apply t this installatin rder. Sftware Order E-mail (SOE) T install SAS 9.4 n z/os, start with the Sftware Order E-mail (SOE) yu received frm SAS Institute. This e-mail cntains details such as the rder number, a key, and the type f installatin yu have: Basic r Planning. Basic rders are generally straightfrward single-machine deplyments. Planning rders are mre cmplex, multi-machine deplyments. This dcument is fr a planning rder. SAS Installatin Data Files (SID files) The SAS Sftware Dept includes ne r mre SAS installatin data (SID) file r files. A SID file is valid fr a limited time and cnsists f custmized installatin infrmatin and prduct authrizatin infrmatin. The SAS Deplyment Wizard uses the installatin infrmatin in a SID file t install yur licensed sftware and apply custmized prduct authrizatin infrmatin t yur system. SID files fllw a naming cnventin in which a file called sas94_xxxxxx_yyyyyyyy_zzz.txt wuld mean xxxxxx is yur rder number, yyyyyyyy is yur setnumid (a unique identifier used by SAS Technical Supprt), and zzz is the perating system fr which the rder is licensed. If yu are ging t run yur metadata server n z/os, yu will be installing a set f 64-bit libraries in additin t the standard 31-bit libraries, which will have a separate SAS site number and a separate SID file. The SID file fr the 64-bit metadata installatin will shw SAS Metadata Server in the SID file itself. The SID files fr yur sftware rder will be lcated in the sid_files directry at the rt f yur SAS Sftware Dept. If yur rder is mre than 90 days ld, ne r mre f the SID files shipped with the rder may have expired. Check yur SOE fr the expiratin date f the SID files in yur rder. If they have expired, Page 1

cntact yur SAS site representative wh may have received a Renewal Sftware Order E-mail that will cntain mre recent SID files. Once yu have created yur SAS Sftware Dept, put the updated SID files in the sid_files directry in yur SAS Sftware Dept. If the site representative des nt have updated SID files, please cntact SAS Custmer Service at 1-800-727-0025 (press ptin 3). SAS Hme Lcatin SASHOME is the UNIX directry lcatin where the UNIX file system cmpnents f yur SAS sftware are installed n yur machine. SASHOME is specified when yu install sftware thrugh the SAS Deplyment Wizard fr the first time, and that lcatin becmes the default installatin lcatin fr any ther SAS sftware yu install n the same machine. Yu will need abut 3 GB f UNIX file system space fr yur SAS Hme directry. Many sites prefer t have SAS Hme in a separate UNIX file system than their SAS Sftware Dept. This allws yu t easily archive the SAS Sftware Dept and reuse that disk space. The directry path fr yur SAS Hme lcatin cannt be a directry within yur SAS sftware dept. Nte: Nte: The length f the SASHOME path is limited t 54 characters. The SAS Hme directry is an integral part f the SAS 9.4 installatin and MUST exist fr yu t apply maintenance r htfixes t yur SAS 9.4 sftware. SAS Deplyment Wizard The SAS Deplyment Wizard is the cmmn interface used t install and deply all SAS 9.4 sftware. Using the SAS Deplyment Wizard, yu interact with the SAS Sftware Dept, the repsitry f files and data necessary t install yur SAS 9.4 sftware. Yu will invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard n each system that is part f yur SAS sftware deplyment. SAS Sftware Dept The SAS Sftware Dept is a cllectin f SAS installatin files that represents ne r mre rders. The SAS Sftware Dept is rganized in a specific frmat that is meaningful t the SAS Deplyment Wizard, which is the tl that is used t install and initially cnfigure SAS. The SAS Sftware Dept cntains the SAS Deplyment Wizard executable, ne r mre deplyment plans, a SID file, rder data, and prduct data. Please see yur Sftware Order E-Mail fr the space required fr the SAS Sftware Dept fr yur rder. Lcatin f SAS Sftware Dept Yu can lad yur SAS Sftware Dept frm the DVD t either UNIX r Windws. The lcatin yu chse must have enugh free space t accmmdate the entire SAS Sftware Dept, and yu must be able t: Munt yur UNIX r Windws directry n yur z/os system using NFS munt, r Mve yur dept t z/os using a third party utility that can transfer a cmplete directry tree, r ur prvided SAS Sftware Dept Cpy Utility, which uses FTP. 2

Disk Space Yur SAS installatin requires the fllwing space defined in UNIX file system directries: SAS Sftware Dept The SAS Sftware Dept is a cllectin f SAS installatin files that represents ne r mre rders. This directry must be available t z/os. It can be: 1. A UNIX File System directry n the z/os machine. 2. A UNIX File System r Windws remte directry that is accessible t the z/os machine via an NFS munt. Yu d nt need the SAS Sftware Dept after yu have cmpleted installing and cnfiguring yur SAS sftware. Yu can archive yur SAS Sftware Dept t tape using the prcess dcumented in SAS Nte SN 37119 (http://supprt.sas.cm/kb/37/119.html). SAS Hme directry The SAS Hme directry is an integral part f the SAS 9.4 installatin. Yu may want t have yur SAS Sftware Dept and SAS Hme directry in separate UNIX file system spaces s that yu can easily recver the space frm yur SAS Sftware Dept after installatin. Fr a SAS fundatin nly installatin, 3 GB shuld be allwed fr the SASHme directry. SAS cnfiguratin directry This directry is where yur SAS server scripts, cnfiguratin files, and metadata server repsitries will reside. The amunt f space required varies widely depending n yur usage, but yu shuld have at least 2 GB f space fr this directry, 3 GB if yu are migrating metadata frm an earlier SAS release. We recmmend that the cnfiguratin directry nt be a subdirectry under the SAS Hme directry. User ID Requirements The user ID used fr installing SAS 9.4 must meet specific requirements: Must have a hme directry that is nt rt. Must have a default prgram shell defined. Must nt be a superuser. Must nt share a UID with ther user IDs. The user IDs that will be running the SAS Deplyment Wizard t install SAS 9.4 Fundatin fr z/os require a larger regin setting: If running under OMVS, a TSO regin size and ASSIZEMAX setting f at least 800 MB. If running UNIX-style cmmands using rlgin, putty, r telnet, an ASSIZEMAX setting f at least 800 MB. Updating the Lgn Passwrd Befre applying any maintenance r ht fixes, if the administratr f yur system has changed their lgn passwrd, yu must update the lgn passwrd. See Updating the Lgn Passwrd n page 17 fr mre infrmatin nly if yu riginally installed withut njbsubmit. 3

Deplyment Plan T install and cnfigure SAS servers that are part f a planning rder, yu must have a deplyment plan. The deplyment plan is an XML-based descriptin f the tplgy fr yur SAS system. The plan file is used in the SAS sftware deplyment prcess t "instruct" the SAS Deplyment Wizard which sftware cmpnents t install and cnfigure n each machine. The SAS Deplyment Wizard cntains a set f standard deplyment plans that may be used by many sites with n custmizatin. These are dcumented at http://supprt.sas.cm/demsdwnlads/setupcat.jsp?cat=standard+deplyment+plans. If yu are wrking with a SAS cnsultant in the deplyment f yur sftware, that cnsultant may create a custmized deplyment plan fr yur installatin. Pre-installatin Review The SAS 9.4 Intelligence Platfrm: Installatin and Cnfiguratin Guide can be a very helpful cmpanin t this installatin dcument and shuld be reviewed befre yu cntinue with this installatin. This installatin guide: leads yu step by step thrugh the installatin f the SAS Intelligence Platfrm. will help yu with any pre-installatin cnfiguratin steps needed t perfrm the installatin. will help yu create a reference t use thrughut the installatin. Fr example, it will help yu gather infrmatin that yu will use during the install such as user IDs fr special SAS users, prt numbers, and the installatin lcatins f third-party prducts used fr this installatin. If yu are using ne f the standard deplyment plans, brwse thrugh ur library f standard deplyment plans available at http://supprt.sas.cm/demsdwnlads/setupcat.jsp?cat=standard+deplyment+plans and select the plan fr yur installatin. Installing Required Third-Party Sftware The checklist indicates any third-party sftware that must be installed befre yu install yur SAS sftware, as well as which third-party sftware must be btained frm its vendr. An example is the X11 Server, described in the next sectin. Obtain that sftware and install it accrding t the vendr s instructins. Sme f yur third-party sftware may be prvided in yur sftware rder. That sftware is listed in yur rdersummary.html which is available in yur SAS Sftware Dept. Fllw the path fr each third-party prduct listed in the Third Party sectin f the rdersummary.html t lcate the dcumentatin fr its installatin. Yu must have a supprted level f Java installed fr a planning installatin with SAS 9.4. Yu can check SAS s third party supprt web page fr infrmatin abut the latest supprted versins f Java at http://supprt.sas.cm/resurces/thirdpartysupprt/. X11 Server Availability The SAS Deplyment Wizard has a graphical user interface which requires the use f an X11 server, if available. At many sites, this sftware is already available and running n a UNIX and/r Windws system. X11 sftware is available frm cmmercial and shareware sites. If yu d nt have access t an X11 server, yu may be able t use the SAS Deplyment Wizard in cnsle mde, allwing yu t use a headless system t cnfigure yur server. If yu use cnsle 4

mde, each dialg used in the deplyment f yur SAS sftware is represented in text. Cnsle mde is available in all rders fr SAS 9.4. Refer t yur Sftware Order E-mail t determine yur versin number. Cnsle mde cannt be used n yur middle tier. Nte: Cnfiguring SAS Data Integratin Studi n z/os may require the use f sme X11 features. If yu are cnfiguring SAS Data Integratin Studi and intend t use cnsle mde, yu must have a virtual framebuffer such as Xvfb. Fr mre infrmatin abut X11 server minimum versin requirements, see the web page entitled SAS 9.4 Supprt fr Additinal Sftware Prducts at http://supprt.sas.cm/resurces/thirdpartysupprt/v94/thersw.html#tab_x11. Installatin Prcess Overview The installatin prcess cnsists f the fllwing steps: Step 1. Creating the SAS Sftware Dept Step 2. Installing and Maintaining Yur Sftware Step 3. Validate Installatin and Pst-Cnfiguratin Step 4. Managing Server Sessins Step 5. Installing SAS 9.4 Mid-tier and Client Sftware frm the SAS Sftware Dept Step 6. Archiving Yur SAS Sftware Dept Fllw these steps in rder t install yur SAS sftware Step 1. Creating the SAS Sftware Dept Fllw these steps t create yur SAS Sftware Dept: 1. Cnfirm that yu have received the sftware that yu expected. In yur installatin kit, find the SAS Order Infrmatin dcument, which lists the sftware that yu rdered. Verify that the SAS prducts and servers listed are crrect, and that they match what yu expected t receive. If they are nt, cntact SAS Custmer Service at 1-800-727-0025. The SAS Sftware Dept is a netwrk-accessible repsitry f yur SAS sftware. After yu have installed yur sftware, the SAS Order Infrmatin dcument will als be available frm yur SAS Sftware Dept at <SAS Sftware Dept Lcatin>/install_dc/<rder number>/si.html. After yu have created yur SAS Sftware Dept, yu may view an expanded list f the sftware that makes up yur rder. Cnsult the rdersummary.html, lcated in yur SAS Sftware Dept at <SAS Sftware Dept Lcatin>/install_dc/<rder number>/rdersummary.html. 5

2. Insert yur media int a DVD drive n either a Windws r UNIX system t create r add t yur SAS Sftware Dept. If yu already have a SAS Sftware Dept frm a 9.4 installatin, yu shuld use the same lcatin fr creating this SAS Sftware Dept. Only new prducts, releases, and maintenance will need t be added t the SAS Sftware Dept, saving disk space. If yu are creating a new SAS Sftware Dept, chse a lcatin that either is, r can be, NFS-munted n z/os, r cnfirm that yu have a third-party FTP utility that can mve the entire directry tree t the z/os file system. The directry name must nt cntain blanks. Fr Windws users: The media shuld autplay. If it des nt, duble-click setup.exe at the rt f yur DVD t start the SAS Deplyment Wizard. Using the SAS Deplyment Wizard, chse Create r Add t a SAS Sftware Dept t create r add t yur SAS Sftware Dept. When yu enter the directry path name fr the SAS Sftware Dept, the name shuld nt cntain blanks. Fr UNIX users: UNIX users shuld munt their DVD with the apprpriate munt cmmand and execute setup.sh at the rt f the DVD. Nte: If yu launch the SAS Deplyment Wizard frm an rder that spans media, d nt use a shell in the remvable media s file system when yu launch setup.sh. In additin, the SAS Deplyment Wizard shuld nt be invked via the File Manager. Either f these methds fr launching the SAS Deplyment Wizard will create a Device busy cnditin, which prevents disk swapping later in the deplyment prcess. Using the SAS Deplyment Wizard, chse Create r Add t a SAS Sftware Dept t create r add t yur SAS Sftware Dept. When yu enter the directry path name fr the SAS Sftware Dept, the name shuld nt cntain blanks. Yu can find instructins fr this utility in the SAS Deplyment Wizard and SAS Deplyment Manager 9.4: User s Guide at http://supprt.sas.cm/dcumentatin/installcenter/94/mvs/index.html), r Transfer the SAS Sftware Dept t z/os using a third-party utility such as Filezilla, WS- FTP, Blue Zne, etc., that can mve a cmplete directry tree. 1. FTP the entire directry tree, ensuring that all files are transferred in binary t a z/os UNIX File System directry, and the case f all file names is preserved. 2. Be sure t set the execute bits after mving frm Windws. Execute the fllwing cmmand: chmd -R a+r+x <SAS Sftware Dept Lcatin> 6

Alternatively, if the SAS Dept is stred n UNIX, fllw these steps: 1. Create a tar file f yur existing SAS Sftware Dept n yur UNIX machine. Execute the fllwing cmmand: tar -cvf <SAS Sftware Dept Lcatin> <tar file name> 2. FTP the tar file created in the previus step t z/os in binary frmat. 3. Extract the SAS Sftware Dept n z/os in the zfs directry where yu want the SAS Sftware Dept created. Execute the fllwing cmmand frm OMVS r rlgin: tar -xvf <tar file name> Nte: The "v" ptin used in the tar cmmands is fr verbse. Infrmatin is displayed back t the terminal abut each file as it is prcessed. It is nt required. Step 2. Installing and Maintaining Yur Sftware The remainder f this dcument describes the installatin and maintenance (where applicable) prcess in detail. At this pint yu shuld have reviewed and cmpleted all f the pre-requisites fr this installatin previusly dcumented alng with the pre-installatin steps in the SAS 9.4 Intelligence Platfrm: Installatin and Cnfiguratin Guide. Yu must have an X11 server available n a Windws PC r UNIX machine at yur site, and yu must use the SAS Deplyment Wizard t install yur sftware. Installatin Actin Actin A r Actin B The installatin prcess will prmpt yu fr an installatin actin t chse. Determine which ne f these installatin actins belw apply t this installatin. Actin A is fr a new installatin if yu d nt currently have SAS 9.4 installed n yur system at all r yu want t create a new SAS 9.4 installatin. Actin B installs maintenance and/r new prducts directly int yur existing prductin SAS 9.4 libraries and directries. Planning Metadata Migratin frm SAS 9.1.3, SAS 9.2 r SAS 9.3 If yu are migrating metadata frm SAS 9.1.3 r SAS 9.2, yu must prepare yur sftware fr migratin. T prepare yur SAS 9.1.3 r SAS 9.2 deplyment fr migratin t SAS 9.4, fllw the instructins in the SAS 9.4 Intelligence Platfrm: Migratin Guide at http://supprt.sas.cm/dcumentatin/cdl/en/bimig/63853/pdf/default/bimig.pdf. Imprtant Ntes D nt lg in t z/os as a superuser (smetimes called rt r UID(0) ). The user ID that will be running the SAS Deplyment Wizard t install SAS 9.4 Fundatin fr z/os must have the same requirements as nted in User ID Requirements n page 3. If yu are applying maintenance r adding sftware t an existing installatin, yu must stp all SAS servers and prcesses befre updating yur installatin. 7

Installatin Steps 1. In rder t use the SAS Deplyment Wizard interactively, yu will need t have access t a desktp cmputer with an X11 server installed and active. Yu need t determine whether yu have an X11 server. a. If yu will be using an X11 server, set the DISPLAY envirnment variable t pint t yur X11 server. Issue the fllwing case-sensitive cmmand frm the z/os UNIX shell n yur z/os system befre starting the SAS Deplyment Wizard: exprt DISPLAY=<yur X11 server name>:0.0 Nte: If yu d nt issue this cmmand, setup.rexx will prmpt yu fr the server name. Make sure that the X11 server is started n yur wrkstatin befre starting the install. b. T invke SAS using the graphical interface, enter the z/os UNIX shell cmmand belw frm OMVS. Imprtant: If yur metadata server will reside n z/os, skip t Step 2, therwise if yur metadata server will reside n anther machine, the metadata server must be installed, cnfigured, and already running n that ther hst., then prceed t Step 3 t invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard fr the 31-bit install. Example:./setup.rexx x11 jbsubmit Nte: -jbsubmit is ptinal and will allw the jbs t be submitted autmatically c. If yu dn t have an X11 server, yu can use the cnsle ptin and yu d nt have t issue the exprt display cmmand. Fr example:./setup.rexx Nte: Beginning with SAS 9.4, the -njbsubmit and cnsle are set by defaultl. The -cnsle ptin means that yu d nt wish t rely n an X11 server; this allws fr a text-based interface. Nte: If yu are cnfiguring SAS Data Integratin Studi and intend t use cnsle mde, yu must have a virtual framebuffer such as Xvfb. The cnsle line cmmand ptin can be used with ther ptins at the same time, such as recrding r playing back a respnse file. Nte: If yu are instructed t enter a sequence that includes angle brackets, such as Enter <q> t quit, yu must include thse symbls. 8

Nte: If yu intend t run the SAS Deplyment Wizard in cnsle mde t perfrm a deplyment withut a graphical display, ensure that the DISPLAY envirnment variable is unset, as ppsed t it being set t a blank value (that is, DISPLAY= ). The njbsubmit ptin means that the SAS Deplyment Wizard will nt submit the jbs autmatically s that yu can inspect and/r mdify the JCL befre executin. By default, the SAS Deplyment Wizard submits these jbs and: Assigns the same jb name xxxxxxa t each jb it autmatically submits, where: xxxxxxx is assigned the installer user ID A suffix assigned t the installer user. Uses the FTP JES interface t track the prgress f each jb, and in particular determine when they have cmpleted. Belw are sme f the reasns fr using the njbsubmit cmmand line ptin which will allw yu t edit and submit the batch jbs yurself: Yur site uses JES3 (nt JES2), r Yur FTP server is cnfigured fr JESINTERFACELEVEL=2, r The SAS installer ID is nt authrized t use FTP, r Yu need t make site-specific changes t the JCL r wish t review the JCL befre submissin, r The FTP JES interface s requirement that the jb name be the user ID perfrming the install suffixed with a single letter r digit is incmpatible with yur site s jb name requirements. 2. In SAS 9.4, the metadata server runs nly in 64-bit mde and requires a separate installatin. If yu plan t run yur metadata server n z/os, yu must invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard multiple times, and this shuld be yur first invcatin f the SAS Deplyment Wizard. Imprtant: If yur metadata server will reside n anther machine, the metadata server must be installed, cnfigured, and already running n that ther hst. Skip t Step 3 t invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard fr the 31-bit install. a. Invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard with the required ptin z64./setup.rexx z64 b. Select Install SAS Sftware n the first screen. 9

The next 4 steps shw sme key screens and values. Yu will be prmpted fr the deplyment type n the secnd screen. Select Install SAS Fundatin and Related Sftware as shwn belw. c. When prmpted fr yur SAS Hme directry, nte that yu will use the same directry fr bth the 64-bit and 31-bit installatins. 10

d. Only select SAS Fundatin in the Select Prducts t Install screen. 11

T ensure yu are using the crrect SID file fr the z64 install, the nly prducts that shuld appear are the SAS Metadata Server and, if it is cntained in yur rder, SAS/Secure. e. Use a separate high-level qualifier fr this installatin than yu will fr yur main SAS installatin (it culd be the main SAS high-level qualifier with an additinal level, fr example SAS.SAS94.Z64). Nte that the lad mdule libraries created fr the 64-bit installatin d NOT need t be prgram-cntrlled as the libraries fr the 31-bit installatin d. f. If yu specified njbsubmit, after the SAS Deplyment Wizard has cmpleted with all green check marks, run the series f jbs indicated in the JOBINDEX member f the <HLQz64>.INSTALL.CNTL data set. After yu submit the first jb, each jb will submit the subsequent jb as its last step. 12

3. Invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard fr the 31-bit install. Nte that this will be the secnd invcatin if yu installed yur metadata server n z/os fllwing the instructins in Step 2. On yur z/os system, frm OMVS (nt ISHELL), rlgin, r putty, enter the z/os UNIX shell cmmand./setup.rexx at the rt f yur SAS Sftware Dept t start the SAS Deplyment Wizard. The mst cmmnly used ptins are: -recrd -respnsefile -deply recrds the values that yu enter fr the SAS Deplyment Wizard prmpts in the file specified by the respnsefile ptin. This is cnvenient when yu have t enter many ptins such as prt numbers and yu may have t rerun the cnfiguratin later. Nte that nce yu have saved a respnse file, yu can use it in a subsequent invcatin f the SAS Deplyment Wizard by specifying respnsefile withut the recrd ptin. if recrd is als specified, a new file is created with the respnses entered in that invcatin f the SAS Deplyment Wizard. If recrd is nt specified, an existing respnse file frm a previus run will be used t fill in the respnses frm that previus run. Yur installatin user ID must have write access t the specified file. if yu specify recrd yu must als specify deply t actually deply the sftware. Example setup.rexx -recrd -respnsefile /u/userid/sdwrespnse.prperties Ntes: By default, n deplyment ccurs when running in a recrd mde. In rder t frce a deplyment while recrding, use deply. Fr example: setup.rexx -recrd -respnsefile /u/userid/sdwrespnse.prperties deply If yu specify a file lcatin where a file already exists, the pre existing file will be verwritten by the SAS Deplyment Wizard. A full listing and descriptin f these cmmand-line ptins fr setup.rexx may be fund in the SAS Deplyment Wizard and SAS Deplyment Manager 9.4: User s Guide at http://supprt.sas.cm/dcumentatin/installcenter/94/mvs/index.html. 4. Befre yu cnfigure yur servers, yu must have the SASCP64 mdule installed where it can be accessed as a TSO r UNIX cmmand. Fr TSO, the SASCP64 mdule must be in a TSO cmmand library r in STEPLIB. If yu use rlgin t access yur z/os system, the SASCP64 mdule must be in link list. If yu d nt have the SAS SVC installed frm a previus SAS 9 release, yu must als install that int yur system befre running the cnfiguratin. Yu can d this by installing (but nt cnfiguring) 31-bit SAS and then btain the SVC mdule frm the lad library, r yu can dwnlad it frm SAS Nte SN 43697 available at http://supprt.sas.cm/kb/43/697.html. 5. Use the SAS Deplyment Wizard dialgs t install the 31-bit sftware. If yu are using the njbsubmit ptin, yu shuld check nly Install SAS Sftware as shwn belw. If yu are nt using the njbsubmit ptin, yu can cnfigure yur servers in the same invcatin f the SAS Deplyment Wizard. 13

Use the Help buttn fr mre infrmatin abut the chices available in each page. Be sure t use the same JRE as yu are using t run the SAS Deplyment Wizard fr the Select Java Runtime Envirnment prmpt (see the screen image which fllws). If yu are unsure f which JRE yu are using, see the messages displayed when the SAS Deplyment Wizard starts up which indicate the JRE being used. Alternatively, yu may call SAS Technical Supprt fr assistance. This is an example f the messages displayed by the SAS Deplyment Wizard (the highlighted text is what yu wuld have put in the prmpt in the SAS Deplyment Wizard): java runs frm /usr/lpp/java/j6.0/bin/java by default. The java versin fund is: java versin "1.6.0" Java(TM) SE Runtime Envirnment (build pmz3160sr8fp1-20100624_01(sr8 FP1)) IBM J9 VM (build 2.4, JRE 1.6.0 IBM J9 2.4 z/os s390-31 jvmmz3160sr8ifx- 20100609_59383 (JIT enabled, AOT enabled) 14

Fr mre detailed infrmatin, please see the SAS Deplyment Wizard and SAS Deplyment Manager 9.4: User s Guide at http://supprt.sas.cm/dcumentatin/installcenter/94/mvs/index.html. One cmmn pint f cnfusin in the SAS Deplyment Wizard is selecting which machine in a multi-machine plan yu are wrking with. Fr z/os, yu will usually be chsing Server, SAS Applicatin Server, r SAS Metadata Server, depending n which plan yu are using and what yu wish t install n this machine. 15

Cntinue thrugh the dialgs r prmpts until the SAS Deplyment Wizard cmpletes. Nte: If yu did run with the jbsubmit ptin, please verify that all batch jbs submitted by the SAS Deplyment Wizard ran successfully. The JOBINDEX member f <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL shws which jbs shuld have executed. 6. If yu installed with the default ptin njbsubmit, after the SAS Deplyment Wizard has cmpleted with all green check marks, run the series f jbs indicated in the JOBINDEX member f the <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL data set. After yu submit the first jb, each jb will submit the subsequent jb as its last step. 7. Yu may want t edit each f the JOBCARDs in the jbs listed in the JOBINDEX member f the INSTALL.CNTL data set t prvide any required site-specific accunting infrmatin, etc., if yu want t d s. Yu may als want t edit the user-defined fields in the JCL statements (such as UNIT values, SMS classes, etc.), t cnfrm t standards used at yur site. 8. If yu want t submit each jb individually, yu will need t edit the last step that submits the next jb thrugh the internal reader. Just delete the IEBGENER step at the end. Otherwise; submit nly the first jb. Nte: After submitting an install jb, the <HLQ>.INSTALL.CNTL library cannt be pen in edit mde. This may cause sme f the install jbs t fail when trying t pen the CNTL library fr update. 16

9. Invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard again and check Cnfigure SAS Sftware as fllws: Prceed thrugh the remainder f the cnfiguratin. Nte: Yu shuld have defined prts, user IDs, servers, etc., in yur pre-installatin checklist that will prvide the infrmatin needed fr the cnfiguratin dialgs. Updating an Existing Installatin If yu are adding a new rder t an existing installatin, and the jbs listed in the JOBINDEX member were named MAINT1 thrugh MAINTn, then the SAS Deplyment Wizard went int update mde and updated yur installed SAS prducts t the mst current level. If yur rder cntained new SAS prducts, yu will need t invke the SAS Deplyment Wizard again t install thse prducts, fllwing the same instructins abve starting with Step 3 under Installatin Steps. Updating the Lgn Passwrd When the administratr f yur system changes their lgn passwrd, yu must run a rexx prgram t update the passwrd that the previus SAS installatin prcess stred. The user ID and passwrd f the persn wh initially installed the system is lcated in the install.prperties file. The passwrd is encrypted and yu will nt be able t view it if yu pen the file. D nt attempt t edit this file n yur wn. The CHGPW.REXX prgram is used t change the passwrd. It can be fund in USS under [SASHOME]/SASDeplymentManager/9.4. 17

T run this prgram in USS space, type chgpw.rexx and fllw the prmpts. Upn invking the prgram, yu will see the java versin fund in the system displayed n the screen alng with the fllwing: Enter passwrd fr YOURID: <enter the current passwrd fr yur user ID> The fllwing prmpt will appear: Enter passwrd again: <enter the same passwrd that yu prvided fr the previus prmpt> If the passwrds t the prmpts are nt the same, the fllwing text will be displayed: Passwrds dn't match. Try again. If the passwrds match, the fllwing prmpt will appear: Passwrd successfully updated. Step 3. Validate Installatin and Pst-Cnfiguratin Nte: 1. After all installatin jbs have finished, submit the VALID jb in the CNTL data set frm the 31-bit installatin and ensure that all steps cmplete with a return cde f 0. 2. Cnsult the cnfiguratin instructins available fr yur perating system fr prductspecific pst-installatin steps. The cnfiguratin instructins are available frm Install Center. Befre cpying an installatin t anther system, please cntact SAS Technical Supprt. Step 4. Managing Server Sessins After the SAS Deplyment Wizard has finished cnfiguratin f yur sftware, any servers yu have cnfigured (metadata server, bject spawner, OLAP server, etc.) will be running as UNIX prcesses. T stp these prcesses cleanly, in OMVS navigate t yur cnfiguratin directry, then the Lev1 directry belw that, and execute the fllwing cmmand:./sas.servers stp Yu can als issue this cmmand./sas.servers status t see the status f all servers (and which nes are running) r./sas.servers start t start all servers in the crrect rder. If yu want t run yur servers as started tasks, fr example, yu wuld stp all the UNIX prcesses, and then use the JCL created fr the started tasks in the data set <high-level-qualifier>.wn.srvproc. 18

Step 5. Installing SAS 9.4 Mid-tier and Client Sftware frm the SAS Sftware Dept Creating the SAS Sftware Dept fr Yur Mid-tier and Client Machines T install sftware n yur mid-tier and client machines, the SAS Sftware Dept must be accessible t thse machines. If yur machines can share directries, a single cpy f the SAS Sftware Dept can be shared between machines, even n machines with different perating systems. Create yur SAS Sftware Dept n yur mid-tier and client machines by cpying yur SAS Sftware Dept frm z/os t the ther machines using a third-party FTP utility that can transfer entire directry trees in binary mde and preserve the case f all file names. Yu may als create a cpy f the SAS Sftware Dept by reading the DVDs and executing either setup.sh r setup.exe fr UNIX r Windws, respectively. Installing Required Third-Party Sftware Yur checklist names any third-party sftware that must be installed befre yu install yur SAS sftware. If yu have n third-party sftware listed in the checklist r the rdersummary.html, skip t Installing SAS Sftware frm the SAS Sftware Dept n page 20. The checklist indicates which third-party sftware must be btained frm its vendr. Nte: Yu shuld use the same plan as yu used fr the z/os Server tier. Select Middle Tier r Clients as apprpriate. 19

Installing SAS Sftware frm the SAS Sftware Dept Windws users shuld duble-click the setup.exe file at the tp level f yur SAS Sftware Dept. The mst cmmnly used ptins are: -recrd recrds the values that yu enter fr the SAS Deplyment Wizard prmpts in the file specified by the respnsefile ptin. -respnsefile if recrd is als specified, a new file is created with the respnses entered in that invcatin f the SAS Deplyment Wizard. If recrd is nt specified, an existing respnse file frm a previus run will be used t fill in the respnses frm that previus run. -deply -cnsle if yu specify recrd yu must als specify deply t actually deply the sftware. nly used fr UNIX hsts, nt needed n Windws. Example setup.exe -recrd -respnsefile "C:\Prgram Files\SAS\sdwrespnse.prperties" 20

Ntes: By default, n deplyment ccurs when running in a recrd mde. In rder t frce a deplyment while recrding, use deply. Fr example (enter as ne line): setup.exe -recrd -respnsefile "C:\Prgram Files\SAS\ sdwrespnse.prperties " deply If yu specify a file lcatin where a file already exists, the pre existing file will be verwritten by the SAS Deplyment Wizard. Fr mre infrmatin abut the chices available in each dialg, click the Help buttn. A full listing and descriptin f these cmmand-line ptins fr setup.exe may be fund in the SAS Deplyment Wizard and SAS Deplyment Manager 9.4: User s Guide at http://supprt.sas.cm/dcumentatin/installcenter/94/mvs/index.html. UNIX users shuld execute setup.sh frm the rt f yur SAS Sftware Dept. Step 6. Archiving Yur SAS Sftware Dept Fr future maintenance r installatin f additinal SAS sftware prducts, yu will need yur SAS Sftware Dept. It can be recreated, but yu may find it easier t keep a backup f yur SAS Sftware Dept s that nly updates must be dwnladed in the future. SAS Nte 37119 (available at http://supprt.sas.cm/kb/37/119.html) cntains sample jbs t back up and restre yur SAS Sftware Dept.
