4 666 OpenAir TM Air damper actuators Linear version, modulating, AC 24 V GBB16...2 Electromotive linear actuators, DC 0...10 V modulating control signal, nominal force 440 N, operating voltage AC 24 V, feedback signal DC 0...10 V for position indication, nominal travel 70 mm, pre-wired with 0.9 m long connection cables. Type-specific variations with adjustable control signal for offset and span and/or with adjustable auxiliary switches for supplementary functions. Use To control rotary and linear air dampers in ventilating and air conditioning plants using a nominal force of 440 N for damper surfaces up to 4 m 2, friction-dependent. to connect a controller with a DC 0...10 V modulating output signal. Functions Basic functions Linear movement Position indication Manual override with no voltage present The linear movement travel switch allows for inward or outward travel of the push rod. As soon as an input signal (> 0 V) is applied, the push rod starts to move. If the control signal is maintained at a constant value, the actuator remains in the current position. If the control signal is interrupted, but not the operating voltage, the push rod drives to the zero position. If the operating voltage is interrupted, the actuator remains in its current position, but the holding force is reduced. A linear movement that is proportional to the output voltage of DC 0...10 V is generated. To manually adjust the push rod, the gear train must be disengaged by pushing the button "PUSH". Refer to "Setting and operational elements" in the chapter "Mechanical design". Siemens Building Technologies CM2N4666E / 02.1999 Landis & Staefa Division 1/10

Type-specific functions Adjustable control signal (Operating function) Adjustable auxiliary switches The offset and span for the linear movement (0...70 mm) can be adjusted using two potentiometers (refer to "Technical design"). For example, actuators featuring this function can be used for the following applications: dampers with linear limitation, for instance in the span of 0...30 mm, can be controlled using the entire control signal span of DC 0...10 V. as sequence positioner in control circuits featuring only a DC 0...10 V control signal to control more than one sequence. with control systems featuring a control signal deviating from the normal DC 0...10 V, e.g., DC 2...10 V. Auxiliary switches provide supplementary functions. The switching points for switches A and B (one changeover switch each) can be set independently in increments of 4 mm within the 0...70 mm linear span. Refer to "Technical design", "Commissioning notes", and "Internal diagram". Summary of types AC 24 V Operating voltage Control signal Standard application (Offset and span not adjustable) Application with adjustable control signal (For offset and span) without auxiliary switch with 2 auxiliary switches without auxiliary switch with 2 auxiliary switches DC 0...10 V GBB161.2E GBB166.2E GBB163.2E GBB164.2E Ordering The auxiliary switches cannot be integrated retroactively. For that reason, order the respective type that contains the desired option. Connection cables Accessories and spare parts The actuator comes with 0.9 m long pre-wired connection cables. Auxiliary switches A,B Warning, maintenance Electric parallel connection of actuators Sizing transformers for AC 24 V Wiring and commissioning Setting values Use either line voltage or safety extra-low voltage for auxiliary switches A and B. Do not mix the two for operation. Howerver, operation using various phases is permissible. Do not open the actuator! The actuator is maintenance-free. Maintenance work may only be conducted by the manufacturer. Electric parallel connection for the same actuator types is admissible provided the operating voltage is within the required tolerance. Voltage drops at the feed lines must be included. A maximum of 10 actuators can be connected to the 0...10 V controller outputs typical for LG. Use safety insulating transformers with double insulation in accordance with EN 60 742; The transformers must be made for 100% runtime. Observe all local safety rules and regulations pertaining to sizing and protecting transformers. Determine the transformer s power consumption by adding the power consumption in VA for all actuators used. Refer to «Commissioning notes» and «Internal diagram» in this data sheet as well as to the HVAC job drawings. The setting values for the offset ( U) and positioning span (Uo) must be entered in the respective control diagrams. Mounting notes Mounting instructions Mounting position Housing protection Linear force support Actuator factory setting Manual override Mechanical limitation of linear movement All information and steps to properly prepare and mount the actuator are listed in the Mounting Instruction guide M4656 delivered with the actuator. Select the actuator mounting position so that the setting elements on the housing cover and the cable connections can be easily accessed. Refer to "Dimensions". In order to satisfy the requirements as per IP54, the following mounting conditions must be fulfilled: Mount the actuators only vertically (cabling see below) The actuator mounting angle may be a maximum of +/- 45. Use the ASK75.2 weather shield for mounting in any other position. Rotary damper application: To support the nominal force (max. 880 N), a stable support for the actuator in accordance with the Mounting instructions is required. Linear damper application: Fasten the actuator to the wall using 2 Taptite screws M6. The actuator comes with a push rod factory setting of + 2 mm which ensures a tight close-off for the air dampers. You can manually adjust the push rod by pushing the gear train disengagement button "PUSH". If necessary, you can limit the linear movement by selecting the relevant damper rod length or by using the linear/rotary set (refer to "Accessories"). Commissioning notes References Environmental conditions Mechanical check Electrical check Factory setting: linear movement travel switch Factory settings for auxiliary switches A and B (see "Technical design") All information necessary for commissioning is contained in the following: This data sheet 4666 Mounting instructions M4656 Job diagram Check to ensure that all permissible values as contained in "Technical data" are observed. Check for proper mounting and to ensure that all mechanical settings are in accordance with the plant-specific requirements. Additionally, ensure that the dampers are shut tight when in the closed position. Check the linear force support: The actuator's fastenings must be stable for the maximum possible tight close-off for the dampers. Manual damper adjustment: The push rod must be able to be moved when the gear train disengagement button "PUSH" is held down. Check to ensure that the cables are connected in accordance with the plant wiring diagram. The operating voltage AC 24 V (SELV/PELV) must be within the tolerance values. Functional check: The push rod must travel inward or outward (depending on the linear movement travel switch's setting) when the control signal DC 10 V is applied. The linear direction set using the travel switch must match the desired damper direction. After interrupting the AC 24 V operating voltage supply, the actuator stops. After interrupting the control signal, but maintained operating voltage, the actuator returns to the zero position. While the push rod travels inward or outward, the output voltage for the position indication must be DC 0...10 V. Switch the auxiliary switch contacts "A" and "B" while the actuator reaches the respective switching positions. The switch is factory set for the linear travel direction "Outward". The auxiliary switches are factory set: Switch A: Switching point at 68 mm Switch B: Switching point at 4 mm To change the settings of A and B, use a flat blade screwdriver to turn the switch adjustment dials to the desired setting. Note Factory setting for the operating function The scale values in mm are valid only for the "0" position of the push rod (linear travel "Outward"). The potentiometers to adjust the offset as well as the span are set to the following values: Offset "Uo" = 0 V ; Span " U" = 10 V The desired values can be adjusted using a flat blade screwdriver in accordance with the information supplied in "Technical design".
