Chapter 1 Introduction 1.1 Overview This guide is intended for the administrators or IT personnel who are responsible for installing PowerPanel Enterprise software, and are experienced in setting up a web server environment and MS SQL server. This guide provides detailed instructions for installing, configuring and starting the PowerPanel Enterprise software, but does not include the installation of Internet Information Services (IIS) and MS SQL Server 2012. Instructions are provided for using the installation package to install the applications. 1.2 Prerequisites This section describes the recommended hardware and software requirements for users to install and run the PowerPanel Enterprise software on the server. 1.2.1 Hardware Requirements (Recommended) The hardware requirements described in the following table are the recommended minimum for the PowerPanel Enterprise software server. Hardware CPU Memory Hard Disk Requirement Higher Single core 2.4GHz-compatible CPU. Minimum 16GB of RAM recommended; more memory generally improves responsiveness. Minimum 500GB of free space. 1.2.2 Software Requirements The following table describes the software requirements, operating system and client-supported web browsers. 1
Software Operating System Requirement Windows server 2012 R2, Standard, 64bits or later Database Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Microsoft Office Microsoft Office 2010 or later Other Services Mail Server Service (SMTP Server) Client Web Browser Firefox Google Chrome Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or later Chapter 2 Installation 2.1 Before the Installation Ensure your server operating system is Windows Server 2012 R2 and have IIS and MS SQL Server 2012 installed and configured correctly, and log in to the system as the Administrator of the system and not just as a user with administrator privileges. 2
2.1.1 Check MS SQL Server Connection Use the SA-level account and password to log in to the MS SQL server, and make sure the connection is normal. 2.1.2 Check IIS Configuration Follow the instructions below to check the installed services and install IIS 6 WMI Compatibility for PowerPanel Enterprise Basic_Windows Server_v0.8.msi to deploy the web applications to IIS. Open Server Manager, click Add roles and features. Select Server Selection and select a server, then click Next. 3
Click Web Server (IIS) to check the installed services. Ensure that all installed services shown in the following picture are also installed on 4
your server, and install IIS 6 WMI Compatibility. 5
2.2 Start the Installation The installation procedure is completed by the installation package named PowerPanel Enterprise Basic_Windows Server_v0.8.msi. You can download it from CyberPower official website. During the installation, PowerPanel Enterprise Basic_Windows Server_v0.8.msi will execute the following tasks to complete the installation. - Create and configure the database structure - Install three application programs: Dataloader, AlertMail and Upgrade - Install and deploy the web applications to the IIS server Follow the instructions below to start the installation process: Double-click the PowerPanel Enterprise Basic_Windows Server_v0.8.msi to run the installation. 6
Click Run to procced. Click Next to start the setup wizard. Enter the domain name, the user account and the password of this web server to allow the web applications to access files, and click Next. 7
Enter the database IP address and the SA-level account credentials to create the database. Click Next. (Note: The credentials are only used for database creation and would not be stored or used by the PowerPanel Enterprise.) Enter the account and password of the database owner for PowerPanel Enterprise to access the database. Click Next. 8
The default folder path MUST be changed in order to install the PowerPanel Enterprise applications. Click Next. Click Next to confirm the installation. 9
Start installing PowerPanel Enterprise software. Please wait about 5 minutes to complete the installation. When the Installation Complete window appears, the PowerPanel Enterprise was successfully installed on the server. Close the window and you can see three application shortcuts installed on the desktop. 10
2.3 Set Up IIS Application Settings Open IIS Manager, and follow below steps to set up the web application settings: Application Pools Setting Click Application Pools > DefaultAppPool > Advanced Settings and set Enable 32-Bit Applications to True. 11
Authentication Setting Click PowerPanelEnterprise, then double-click Authentication and set Anonymous Authentication to Enabled. 12

Handler Mappings Setting Click PowerPanelEnterprise, then double-click Handler Mappings. Click Edit Feature Permissions and enable Read and Script permission. 14
Chapter 3 Get Started This chapter guides you to initiate the PowerPanel Enterprise system. 3.1 Login Open the web browser, and enter your website address to launch PowerPanel Enterprise System. You should see the PowerPanel Enterprise login page. Use the default account and password (Admin/ admin) to log in to the system, and change the password immediately. 15
3.2 Configure the SMTP Server Set up the SMTP server for Dataloader and AlertMail applications to send the e-mail notifications. Go to Setting > Alarm > SMTP Server and enter the SMTP server information. 16
3.3 Start the Dataloader and AlertMail You can find the Dataloader and AlertMail shortcuts on your server s desktop after the installation. Double-click the shortcuts to start the Dataloader and AlertMail applications. Make sure the applications are always running, or PowerPanel Enterprise system will not receive device data and cannot send e-mail notifications. Now, you can start to use the PowerPanel Enterprise system. Chapter 4 Uninstall Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features, find PowerPanel Enterprise in the list and click Uninstall. 17
