Installation instructions, drive system EQRB, L=3.4 sizes 005-072 General description A speed controlled drive system specifically adapted to drive rotary heat exchangers. No tuning is necessary. All control inputs are galvanically isolated from the mains. The unit is supplied with the motor. The direction of rotation of the motor is reversible. Enclosure class IP54. Safety precautions Sizes 005-018 Sizes 020-072 Important! Read through the entire instruction manual carefully before unpacking, installing and using the equipment. The installation must be carried out by authorised personnel. Follow the general measures and regulations for the installation and operation of electrical installations. Follow local measures and regulations to protect against personal injury and mechanical damage. The drive system is intended for permanent installation. Cables must not be connected or disconnected while the power supply is on. Check that the equipment is correctly connected before it is taken into operation. See the instructions under Connection specification, page 2. Faults occurring due to incorrect installation or operation are covered. During operation The unit may not be opened or disassembled during operation. Disassembly and disposal The product is designed to comply with the RoHS directive and must be handled and recycled in accordance with locally applicable legislation. Regarding the control logic and operation: During start up and after each time the AHU has been stopped, it is recommended that the exhaust fan operates during 1 minute before the supply fan is started. The drive system shall always be preceded by an external fuse 10AT. Current Rated current 1.0A. Motor The motor is connected on terminal blocks P6 and P7. The motor has been customised and cannot be replaced with a similar one. Functional description Cleaning mode When there is no control signal the heat exchanger rotates 30 every 5 minutes. Communication The drive unit has built-in Modbus RTU communication via RS485, terminal block P3 terminals 1 (A+), 2 (B-) and 3 (ref.). The preset parameters for communication are: Address: 30 Baud rate/speed: 9600 Parity bit: N, none Stop bit: 1 Data bits: 8 For a complete Modbus register see Appendix 1: Communication can be used for all drive system functions. Defrosting It is possible to connect a differential thermostat or pressure monitor to control defrosting on terminal block P3 terminals 4 and 5. When the contact is closed the speed is reduced to 2 rpm. Cooling recovery When terminals 6 and 7 on terminal block P3 are closed the rotor goes into cooling recovery mode and the speed increases and remains constant at 25 rpm, irrespective of control signal. Rotation sensor The drive system has a built-in rotation sensor that detects whether the belt has snapped. Belt testing takes place at set time intervals depending on the current speed. Control signal The control signal is connected on terminal block P3 terminals 8 and 9. The control system can handle several different input signals: 0-10VDC 2-10VDC 0-20mA 4-20mA Modbus RTU The choice of control signal is made using dip switches 11 and 12 corresponding to level and type respectively. The motor speed follows a predetermined linearisation function proportional to the degree of efficiency of the rotor. Fläkt Woods 9291 GB 2014.12.05 2 Specifications are subject to change without prior notice.

Run indicator The drive system indicates, via LEDs, the speed and operating status of the unit at any point. See table. Alarm relay Relay output max. 5A, 250VAC. DIP switch settings + + The gear ratio is set at the factory. The correct activation of the drive system requires that DIP switches 2-7 be set according to the Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) coding of the ratio between the rotor and belt pulley. Fläkt Woods 9291 GB 2014.12.05 4 Specifications are subject to change without prior notice.

Troubleshooting Check that the installation has been carried out correctly. For example, that the cables are properly connected to the correct terminal block and that the dip switches are set correctly. Observation/ Fault cause/action: indication No LED lit. Check that there is 230VAC ±10% on the mains terminal block. If the mains voltage is correct replace the control unit. The green LED is flashing slowly/ cleaning mode signal - low control signal The motor is not turning despite a control signal. The rotation sensor is generating an alarm despite the belt being intact. Check that the cables are correctly connected. Check the DIP switch. Vary the control signal between minimum and maximum 0-10 V (2-10 V). Check by strapping P3 6 and 7, the motor should now speed up to its maximum speed. Gearing incorrect. Check DIP switch 2-7. Contact Fläkt Woods. Observation/ indication twice. three times. four times. five times. The rotation sensor is not generating an alarm despite the belt having snapped. The motor is rotating in the wrong direction. The motor runs at full speed even when the control signal is low. Fault cause/action: Indicates a snapped belt. Check that the rotor is no stiffer than normal, or whether the belt has snapped. The ramp time to the desired speed is too long. Check that the rotor is no stiffer than normal, or locked. Check the mains voltage. Sensor problem. Check the DIP switch. Check that cooling recovery and defrosting are not taking place at the same time Contact Fläkt Woods. Switch off the power and change DIP switch 1. Then switch the power on again. Check that the cooling recovery terminal block is not strapped (6 and 7), or Modbus register 4x0029 is set to 1. If necessary the entire control unit must be replaced including the bracket and motor. Fläkt Woods 9291 GB 2014.12.05 5 Specifications are subject to change without prior notice.
