Instructions for connecting to the FDIBA Wireless Network (Windows XP) In order to connect, you need your username and password, as well as the FDIBA Root Certificate which you need to install on your laptop or smartphone. 1) Root Certificate Installation To obtain the certificate, please perform the following steps: 1

1. Log on to a desktop computer in one of the PC rooms using your username and password and use Windows Explorer to navigate to the location X:\Wireless Network. Note: You can also download the certificate outside the FDIBA network using the URL: http://fdiba.tu-sofia.bg/downloads/frc.cer 2. Copy the file FRC.cer to a USB Flash disk or a diskette. 3. Transfer the certificate file to your laptop. 4. Double-click on the certificate file. You should see the following window: Click on Install Certificate 5. In the Certificate Import Wizard click Next >. 2

6. Select Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate. Click Next >. 7. Click Finish to complete the Certificate Import Wizard. 3

8. Verify the certificate by comparing the Thumbprint (sha1) value in the Security Window with the value shown here. If they match, click Yes. This window completes the certificate import procedure. Refer to next page for Wireless Network Configuration. 4

2) Configuration of the Wireless Network Properties 1. Open Network Connections, select your wireless network adapter and choose View Available Wireless Networks. The following window appears: Note: If you do not see any wireless networks, check that you have correctly installed your wireless network adapter drivers, the wireless adapter is enabled and that the service Wireless Zero Configuration is running. Click Refresh network list to refresh the networks list. In the Related Tasks category, choose Change advanced settings. 2. In the Wireless Network Connection Properties window, verify that Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings is checked. Then choose Add... (See next page for screenshot) 5

3. Choose the Association tab. In the Network Name (SSID) field type FDIBA Wireless. Note: The SSID field is case-sensitive, so enter it exactly as shown. In the Network Authentication field, choose WPA or WPA2 (not WPA-PSK!) from the drop-down menu. 6

In the Data encryption field, choose TKIP or AES. Choose the Authentication tab. 4. For EAP type, choose Protected EAP (PEAP) from the drop-down menu, ensure that Authenticate as computer when computer information is available is NOT checked and choose Properties. 5. (See next page for screenshot) In the Protected EAP Properties window verify that Validate server certificate is checked. From the Trusted Root Certification Authorities list find and check FDIBA Certification Authority. Under Select Authentication Method select Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2). Check the box next to Enable Fast Reconnect and click the Configure button. Note: If you select the Enable Fast Reconnect checkbox and the authentication hangs on Validating Identity thereafter, deselect the Enable Fast Reconnect checkbox and try connecting again. Fast Reconnect is not supported on Windows CE.NET. 7

6. In the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties window, remove the checkbox near Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any). Click OK and close all dialog windows. The network configuration procedure is complete. Refer to next page for instructions about connecting to the network. 8

3) Connecting To the Network 1. Choose the FDIBA Wireless network and click Connect. 2. Wait until a yellow balloon popup message appears in the system tray prompting to select authentication credentials. Click the balloon popup message (do not click the X in the upper right corner!). 3. The following window appears: 9

Enter your username and password for the network. In the Logon domain field, enter FDIBA. Click OK and wait a few seconds. If the authentication was successful, the status of the network adapter should have changed to Connected. If you have any questions or problems connecting to the network, please contact the (10207 A) or e-mail itteam@fdiba.tu-sofia.bg. 10
