1 Introduction 1.1 Validity This document applies to the installation of the SeMSy III Workstation Software. 2 General Notes 2.1 Appropriate Use SeMSy III is a high-performance and future-proof video management system with ultimate user friendliness. It offers a comprehensive range of functions, including the display of live images, various search options within the footage, the control of PTZ cameras and an easy archiving of relevant sequences. The SeMSy III Workstation Software is the central control and evaluation instrument of the entire SeMSy III Video Management System. The various functions are designed as modules and allow for an adjustment of the user interface to the individual requirements of a workstation. The basic modules are included in all package variants of the SeMSy III Workstation Software and offer the possibility of benefiting from the advantages of the SeMSy III Video Management System at all times. 2.2 Performance Features SeMSy III is especially characterized by the following functions and properties: Operation via drag and drop Easy and intuitive Individually adjustable user interface Storage of adjusted user interfaces Display of alarm messages PTZ control via GUI or optional with VMC-2 Evaluation via GUI or optional with VMC-2 Diverse search functions including SmartFinder Scalable without limits Integration of 3 rd party systems 2.3 Warranty The terms and conditions valid at the signing of the contract shall apply. www.dallmeier.com 6

4 Installation The Installer setup installs all necessary components on the system. Note before start, that administrator rights are required for the installation. that no MySQL Connector/ODBC 5.1 driver must be installed on the system. that a SeMSy III Setup Server must be available and accessible over the network. Proceed as follows in order to install the SeMSy III Workstation Software: ¾¾Close all running applications. ¾¾Start the file SeMSy_III_Installer_x.x.x_Prof_Enterprise.exe. The ntp.conf file is displayed in a text editor. Fig. 4-17 ¾¾Edit the line #server 127.127.1.0: ¾¾Remove the # comment character and enter the PC host name or the IP address of the SeMSy III Setup Server in order to use as a backup either the local system time or the system time of SeMSy III Setup Server. ¾¾Save and close the ntp-conf file. The dialog for configuring the NTP service settings is displayed. Normally the already activated settings in the dialog can be used. 5 First Start Note after the reboot of the system and before the first launch of the SeMSy III Workstation Software, that for the software activation a Dallmeier License Dongle (Pro) must be plugged into the workstation or a Dallmeier License Dongle (Net 10) must be accessible over the network. ¾¾Double-click the desktop icon.
