This document provides guidance for the update of individual workstation computers to Maximizer CRM Summer 2013 edition. This guide is into sections: 1. update of Maximizer Windows desktop software (and Max exchange) 2. update of the Maximizer web user integration components. Before you start Please ensure you will clear and have checked which Maximizer Software and Add-ons are installed on this computer. In particular, which office integration components are installed. Before you start, close Maximizer and any Microsoft office components which you have open. E.g. Microsoft Word Microsoft outlook Update of Maximizer Windows desktop software In most cases they have CABC will have already upgraded your server and you will be provided with a path to the file containing the Summer 2013 installation software. This is likely to be similar to \\yourservername\mxserver\ MaxCRM12_Summer2013_Patch.exe You should be able to run this file directly from the path provided. However, we have seen that on some computers it is better to copy the file to a local path on the C drive of your computer before running it. For example, to a folder called C:\kits The second alternative method for running the update package is to run it from the Maximizer live update download server. This is simple, but will require you to download package file from a location which may be on the Internet and therefore in most cases we recommend that you run the kit we have downloaded for you as described above. Should you not be able to locate the file, in most cases you can start of the Maximizer live update process from the menu in the Maximizer help or Maximizer section. If the Maximizer live update option is not present, then your system is configured only for coordinated manual www.cabc.couk Page 1 of 6
update as described above. Run MaxCRM12_Summer2013_Patch.exe The installation is starting up. You have to acknowledge this message during each installation by clicking OK. During the installation of the Summer 2013 software on your server, CABC will have already performed the necessary activation and this message is simply a reminder. www.cabc.couk Page 2 of 6
Wait for the install to open the package. Click Next. Wait for the installation. And the Patching www.cabc.couk Page 3 of 6
Click Finish. You can expect this process to take less than 5 minutes on most PCs of less than 2 years old. After this process completes you must apply the service pack update MaxCRM12SUMMER2013SP1.exe Run this in a similar way to the main update (above). Assuming the Windows user, already had Maximizer s Microsoft Word and Microsoft outlook toolbars installed, these will have been upgraded during the installation. No further steps are required unless the user also has the Microsoft outlook integration for the web client installed. MAX EXCHANGE Max Exchange remote is automatically updated by the workstation update package. Update of the Maximizer web user integration components For users of Maximizer s web client we have found that it is generally a good idea to clear the Internet Explorer cache of before opening the new version of the web client. Failure to do this, can lead to some sections of the web client screen not displaying correctly. In Internet Explorer 9 choose, Internet options (from the cog in the top right-hand corner of the browser) and on the general tab, click the browsing history Delete button. Then delete the temporary Internet files. Open the browser and login to the web client. As you login for the first time, your browser will prompt you to download and run a component from Maximizer Software. You should except this prompt and confirm that you wish to run the component. www.cabc.couk Page 4 of 6
This is an update to a component which was already installed on your computer and the user will not be prompted again once the new version has been installed. From the administration menu in the bottom left corner of the screen select the option Desktop and Mobile Setup. If the user has the Windows version of Maximizer installed and it has been upgraded to Summer 2013, then you will not need to upgrade the Microsoft Word integration. For most web only users, download and run the word integration and the outlook integration packages. www.cabc.couk Page 5 of 6
When you click the link associated with the package, you will see a prompt from the browser asking if you wish to confirm that you wish to run the installation kit. Click run. There are no options that need to be selected in either of these kits and you must simply click nex0t,0 next, next, next.. Finish through the screens of the kit. The package will automatically uninstall any previous version and after the upgrade there are no further steps required.
