Overview The Student Learning Center is the student's interface to PassAssured's Training System. The student's access to Sub-Section Quizzes, Section Tests, Tutored Exams, Final Exams, and the Exit Exam is provided. The student will use this interface to receive and send messages to the educator. The educator controls the access of exams for each student. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 2
Login When the student accesses PassAssured's Student Learning Center, the initial log in screen appears. The student should enter the previously provided username and password in the appropriate blanks. Special attention should be given to assure these credentials are entered exactly as provided. Enter all data in small caps. When the educator enrolled the student in the Pharmacy Technician Training Program, the student's email address was entered. The username and password was sent to the student's email address. In addition, the student's username and password was provided to the educator. When the correct login credentials are provided, the student will be forwarded to the Student Learning Center. Students should protect their login credentials. If the student loses their login credentials, they may use the "Forgot Password" feature. This screen will ask for the student's username and will send the correct password to the email address on file. Message Center If the educator sends a message to the student, the Message Center will be initially displayed upon student log in. The message must be acknowledged before the student can proceed to any other Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 3
screen. The student's messages are displayed and a window for replying to the educator is provided. The student may also send a message to their educator from the Student Learning Center. *Once any message is displayed and acknowledged, the message is deleted from the student's message center. Section Tutorials The training program s main course content is listed under "Section Tutorials" in the Student Learning Center. There are six sections with a total of forty-five subsections. Each sub-section video teaches the student essential information to becoming a well-trained pharmacy technician. A brief introductory video is played each time the student clicks on a sub-section video. The student can select the skip video button to bypass the feature. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 5
After the introduction video, a video segment is played for each section. The student will need to click the play button at the bottom of each respective sub-section video. The short video clips are instructional and contain the main course content. All sub-section videos have a Learn File associated with them, which can be found by clicking on the graduation cap in the bottom right-hand side of the video. The Learn File will open in a new window. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 6
Clicking on the print feature in the new window will open up the Learn File in PDF format to allow the student to print the file. The student should print all Learn Files to use for notes and study. All test questions are pulled from the Learn Files, and contain more than double the information presented in the videos. Studying the Learn Files is an essential part to passing the national certification exams. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 7
Study Aids The Study Aids can be found under the "Study Aids" tab in the Student Learning Center. These games are best played when studying the Medication Review and Calculations Sections. Each module contains the different aspects of what would be found on a prescription or in a pharmacy. The Top 300 Drugs, Roman Numerals, Sigs, and Abbreviations modules - including the tests, must be completed before the Virtual RX will open. The Virtual Cash Register Quiz can only be accessed through the Virtual Cash Register video found in the Pharmacy Operations Section. The Virtual Cash Register will open once the quiz has been completed. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 8
Videos and Law Videos The Effective Communication and Interview addendum videos are not part of the main curriculum, but are required to pass the course. Law HIPAA Laws and Regulations is a required section. These regulations are taken very seriously in all medical practices. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 9
Quizzes and Section Tests Access to all Sub-Section Quizzes and Section Tests can be gained through this screen. Students must completely view the matching Section Tutorial to gain access to the Sub-Section Quiz, even if access has been granted by the educator. If a Section Tutorial has not been viewed, then the Sub-Section Quiz Title will be gray and inaccessible. Once the student has taken any Quiz, Test, or Exam, the license is considered "used" and no refund will be issued. Quiz Titles Once a Sub-Section Tutorial has been completely viewed, Sub-Section Quiz titles will be black and will indicate a hyperlink when the mouse is rolled over the quiz title. If the Section Tutorial has not been viewed, the quiz title will be gray. Contact your educator to assure appropriate access is granted. Green Check Mark When a student successfully completes a Sub-Section Quiz, a green check mark is awarded next to the quiz title. This data is also available to the educator. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 10
Take the Test If all quizzes have been taken and the educator has granted access, the Take the Test icon will appear. Selecting this icon directs the student to the Section Test for the particular section. Each section test request prompts an automatically generated Section Test. The questions of the Section Test are referencing the correlating section only. When a new Section Test is requested, a new question set will be re-generated from a master test question database, which contains over 1,000 question sets. Each Section Test generated will provide different questions and in random order. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 11
These tests offer real-time feedback to the student and provide information supporting the correct answer. If a student exits a section test before complete, the test question set is saved and represented to the student on the next attempt of the test. The student will restart the exam exactly where he/she stopped. The student should select the choice that best answers the question. All selections are recorded and the test can be reviewed with the educator. Students must wait a minimum of thirty minutes between attempts to allow more time to study the Learn Files. Scoring Thermometer A real time scoring thermometer is provided to give the student their score at the moment. The scoring thermometer calculates a score after each question is answered based on the number of questions attempted and number of questions answered correctly. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 12
View Results The View Results icon directs the student to the previous scores for the particular test or exam. The date and time of test completion is recorded, as well as the score. The historical data system keeps track of the last six test scores. If a seventh test is completed, the oldest test data is removed from the display. If the student has not completed any tests, the view results icon will not be available. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 13
Test Score When the student scores 80% or higher on a section test, the test score appears on a blue medallion. The medallion is placed to the right of the section information box, opposite the section title. The highest of the last eight section test scores is indicated in the center of the blue medallion. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 14
Tutored, Final, and Exit Exams The Tutored Exam The Tutored Exam is a timed test, with feedback to enhance the student's learning exercise. The test timer is halted when a feedback screen is displayed. When the three-hour time limit has expired, a warning will appear, informing the student that the three-hour time limit has been reached. However, the Tutored Exam will allow the student to complete the test. Each question provides full feedback, a "Stop Light", and full text justifying the answer. If an answer to a question is correctly selected, feedback is given supporting the correct answer. If an incorrect answer is selected, feedback is given offering the student additional information to formulate the correct answer in the future. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 15
Final Exam The Final Exam is designed to mimic the national certifying exams. Aspects of an actual exam setting are applied. The Final Exam offers the student no feedback during or after the exam. When an answer is chosen, a check mark indicates the selected answer, and then the next question is displayed. The real-time scoring thermometer is not present. The timer will run for two hours*, and then terminate the exam if it is not completed. In the event the exam is not completed within two hours, the score will be based on the number of questions answered correctly versus the total number of questions (125). Students may "pause" the timer by exiting the Final Exam window. *Effective July 2018, the Final Exam will be lowered to a two hour time limit from three hours. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 16
The Exit Exam The Exit Exam will become available when the student has successfully completed (score above 80%) all quizzes, Section Tests, Study Aids, and the Tutored and Final Exam. This Exam pulls from a completely new database of questions that have not been seen before in the program. The Exit Exam offers the student no feedback during or after the exam. When the student chooses his/her answer, a check mark indicates the selected answer, then the next question is displayed. The Real Time scoring thermometer is not present. The timer will run for two hours*, and then terminate the exam if the student has not completed it. The remaining questions will be marked incorrect and the Exit Exam will be scored accordingly. Should the student not finish the Exit Exam in the time allotted, the student should contact his/her educator for further instruction. The student will have three attempts to successfully complete the Exit Exam. In the event a student fails the Exit Exam with a score of less than eighty percent (80%), the student will be locked out for a ten day period. The ten day period is designed so that the student may go back and review the material in any or all of the sections. After the ten days are up, the student can re-take the Exit Exam. If the student fails the Exit Exam a second time with less than eighty percent (80%), he or she must go back and review the program a second time. If the student fails the third time, contact PassAssured at 1.866.778.7277 to obtain new login information to start the program over. (Exception: Florida individuals in an employer-based training program must repurchase the course and begin again. This is a requirement of the Florida Pharmacy Association.) The new credentials will expire the same month as the originals. (This DOES NOT require a repurchase of the product. When the license to use the product is purchased, the license is valid for one year after purchase date, whether or not the student passes or fails the Exit Exam.) Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 17
ONLY click on the test when you are ready to take the Exam and have two hours of uninterrupted time. You may not log out of the Exam to pause the timer like the Tutored and Final Exams allow. As soon as the timer starts, it will continue until it hits 0:00. *Effective July 2018, the Exit Exam will be lowered to a two hour time limit from three hours. Frequently Asked Questions After finishing the program, am I a certified pharmacy technician? PassAssured is a preparatory course for the national certification exam. In select states, you may purchase the Certificate of Completion and register to become a pharmacy technician, but PassAssured is not a certification agency and therefore cannot certify a pharmacy technician. The student may only certify to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician by taking the ExCPT or the PTCB exam. Check here for your specific state s requirements to become a pharmacy technician. Is there a time limit on my program? Access to the program is valid for one year from the date of enrollment. (In Florida, technicians working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist have a maximum of six months to complete the course.) I won t be able to finish the program. Can I get a refund? Refunds are only issued if the user has not taken a test or is within 30 days of purchasing the product. Is the program transferrable? No, the program is not transferable. Once an individual has taken a test, the program is considered used and is not eligible for a transfer or refund. Can more than one student use a student license (one set of credentials)? The program is designed and sold as a license for one user. Multiple users for one license are not allowed and subject to be revoked. Can I change my password? Passwords are randomly generated by the system, not PassAssured staff. How often are the Learn Files updated? Any major updates to the Learn Files will occur during the summer months so as to not to interfere with the traditional school schedule. Any federal law changes or critical updates will be done when necessary. How do I know if I have the most recent version of the Learn Files? The Learn Files have a version number on the bottom of each page that can be referenced against the Files in the Student Learning Center (or Educator Control Panel). If the numbers do not match, contact PassAssured for detailed information regarding the updates that have occurred since the version last printed. Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 18
I don t remember this information in the test question being in the videos, why are you asking me about it? Just because the information isn t in the Section Tutorials doesn t mean it isn t in the curriculum. The Section Tutorials are a summary of the information found in the Learn Files. Where are your test questions pulled from? All information used in test questions are pulled from the Learn Files. The Calculations test questions will use the same formulas, but not the same numbers as the examples found in the Learn Files. Why don t the questions on the Exit Exam match the Tutorial Videos? The Exit Exam tests the students application of the material and is a culmination of the different topics discussed throughout the program. All test questions are pulled from the Learn Files that are accessible in the Section Tutorials. Why don t the questions in the Exit Exam match the questions I saw in the other tests? The Exit Exam test questions are pulled from a completely different database of question sets to test the student s knowledge of the material. This prevents memorization and promotes absorption of the information presented throughout the course. Can I pause the timer after I start the Exit Exam like on the Tutored and Final Exams? The Exit Exam is the only exam with PassAssured that cannot be paused once begun. Before a student ever enters the Exit Exam, there is a window that pops up with the message, From the time you begin the Exit Exam you will have three hours to finish. If you fail the Exit Exam you will be locked out for ten days before being allowed to try again. If you fail the Exit Exam three times you will have to start the program over. Good luck! Effective July 1, 2018, the Final and Exit Exams will be lowered to a two hour time limit from three hours. I failed the Exit Exam, what do I do now? Failing the Exit Exam does not mean failing the entire course! If a student fails the Exit Exam on the first or second attempt, there is a 10 day waiting period before being eligible to take it again. During this time, PassAssured recommends that the student study the Learn Files. Each attempt of the Exit Exam means brand new test questions, so taking Section Tests, the Tutored Exam or the Final Exam will not be as helpful as studying the Learn Files and learning the material. What happens if I fail the Exit Exam three times? Though it doesn t happen very often, there are times when a student doesn t pass the Exit Exam on the third attempt. When this occurs, the student is issued a new set of login credentials and required to start the program completely over. (In Florida, the student is required to repurchase the program through the Florida Pharmacy Association.) Pass Assured, LLC www.passassured.com Page 19
