For information on installing XtenderSolutions License Server and registering an AppXtender Distribution Extraction license, refer to the ApplicationXtender License Server Administrator s Guide. Also, you must use ApplicationXtender Administrator (AppXtender Admin) to configure the location of the AppXtender License Server for the data source from which you intend to perform extractions. For more informat ion about configuring data sources, refer to the ApplicationXtender Core Components Administrator s Guide. Creating the AppXtender Distribution CD The remainder of this quick reference briefly describes how to run an extraction. Once you have extracted data to premaster AppXtender Distribution Extraction CD-ROMs, you need to master the premastered data to CD-ROM. CD creation software is not included with AppXtender Distribution Extraction. You can use any CD creation software package, such as Adaptec Easy CD Creator, to master the data to CD-ROM. See the documentation for your CD creation software for specific instructions. Running an Extraction Before you perform an extraction, make sure no users are accessing the application that you intend to extract. Also, make sure no users access the application during the extraction. Each of the following tables represents a page within ApplicationXtender Media Distribution Extraction Wizard. Upon completion of the configuration of each page, click Next to continue to the next page in the wizard. 4 4

Extraction s Page Table 4 Extraction s Page s AppXtender Viewer Software Span Disc Add field values as CD volume label Generate extraction information file Allows you to choose if AppXtender Viewer will be included on each CD- ROM, on the first CD-ROM, or on none of the CD-ROMs you create. Allows you to choose to have the entire database on the first CD-ROM, or to split the database so each CD-ROM contains the part of the database that relates to the documents on that CD- ROM. Allows you to identify the contents of a CD based on a customized volume ID. When the CD-ROM is created, adds an extraction information file on the root of the CD-ROM. This file allows the user receiving the CD-ROM to easily identify its contents. Pre-Master Volume Volume ID Prefix The name for each volume premastered during an extraction is formed by the Volume ID Prefix you specify plus a number indicating which volume the CD- ROM is within the set. Estimated DB Size, Mbytes Allows you to provide AppXtender Distribution with information about the anticipated size of the database to be extracted. Media Size, Mbytes Allows you to prevent the amount of data premastered by AppXtender Distribution for a particular CD-ROM from exceeding the size of the media to which you are mastering the data. Sector Size, Bytes Helps AppXtender Distribution allocate data correctly during premastering. Use Field Value as CD Volume Label Generate Extraction Information File Use alternative security information Appends the value of the designated sort order field for the first document extracted and the last document extracted to the volume ID prefix you set using the Volume ID Prefix option. Writes an extraction information file containing information about the files extracted for that volume to the root destination directory when the extraction is performed. Select this option if you plan to use security mapping. 8 8
Table 4 Extraction s Page s Migrate all key reference records Create autoplay file Delete destination database and files Destination directory for database files, object files, and viewer software Calculate Size Allows you to migrate all key reference data (including key reference index data). Note: Key reference index data that has already been used to reference documents is always migrated. Causes the AUTORUN.INF file to be included at the root of the premastering directory for CD-ROMs premastered by the extraction. This file triggers the RXLAUNCH.EXE file. Causes the AppXtender Distribution to clean out the destination (premastering) directory for this extraction prior to premastering the data extracted by this extraction. The location that AppXtender Distribution uses to premaster data for this extraction so you can create AppXtender Distribution CD-ROMs. Allows you to quickly determine whether there are existing files in the directory that you selected as the destination (premastering) directory. Order File Parameters Page If you selected the Generate order files for Rimage Network Publisher option on the ApplicationXtender Media Distribution Configuration dialog box, the Order File Parameters page appears after the Extraction s page. To access the ApplicationXtender Media Distribution Configuration dialog box, right-click the title bar of any page of AppXtender Distribution Extraction. From the shortcut menu, select Configuration. After selecting configuration options from those shown in the following table, click Next to access the Summary page to complete the extraction. Table 5 Order File Parameters Page s Order Identifier Priority Disc Volume Allows you to enter a unique ID for the order file. Allows you to enter the priority of the order. A value of ì0î is highest, and a value of ì9î if the lowest. Allows you to enter the disc volume. This applies only to ISO9660 and HFS file systems. 9
Table 5 Order File Parameters Page s Media Type Image Type Copies Path and name of the label file Format of label file Other parameters Allows you to choose between CD-R (default) or DVD-R as media types. Allows you to enter the type of image file to construct. Allows you to enter the number of copies to make. Allows you to enter the path and name of the label file. Allows you to select the format of the label file. You can choose between Editor Format and Printer Format. Allows you to enter other/optional instructions and switches the can be used by Rimage Network Publisher. Summary Page Lists all of the options you selected for the extraction definition. To change an option, click Back to return to the corresponding page and make the change. Then click Next to return to the Summary page. When you are ready to run the extraction, click Finish. Always close Windows Explorer before running an extraction. If the directory you selected as a premastering directory already has data in it and you have it open in Windows Explorer, the extraction will fail. If the amount of data extracted will not fit on one disc, a dialog box appears prompting you to confirm spanning data to another disc. To use a new disc, click Yes, span disc and extract content to new volume now. To have discs automatically spanned as needed for the entire extraction process, before clicking Yes, select Do not ask me again. To continue adding content to the current disc, click No. If you deny confirmation of a disc spanning request, the resulting data in your premastering directory may not fit on the media to which you intend to move it. When the extraction is finished, the Extraction Definition page appears. You can create select and run another extraction or exit the wizard. After extracting data to a premastering CD-ROM, you must master the premastered data to CD-ROM using any CD creation software package, such as Adaptec Easy CD. 10 10
