Adding a New Plotter using Tools/Preferences First you must select tools from the menu bar, then select preferences to add a new plotter.
Preferences Dialog Box In Order to add a new Printer you must select the New button now!!
Add a Printer In this dialog box you must highlight the second Hewlett Packard device and then press OK!!! (ADI 4.3 Drivers for AutoDesk by HP)
Add a Plotter Text Window In this Dialog box all of the HP supported models are listed. Press enter and then enter selection (2) for the HP 750C Plus then press enter.
Port Settings Since you will be plotting to file stay with the <P> for parallel port, press enter. Then you must type a period (.) in the port name. The (.) indicates that no port was selected and will prevent any port conflicts.
Default Values In most cases all the default menu choices should be selected. Only in extreme cases will other changes be required It is mostly for sophisticated uses. Press enter for the default (N).
Created a Printer You have just created a new HP DesignJet 750C Plus plotter for your AutoCAD R14. Highlight the new printer and press set current.
HP Configuration Now that the HP750C Plus plotter has been selected as your current plotter you will need to customize the settings of your plot to file plotter. Type in hpconfig at the command prompt and press enter.
HP Plotter Settings The hpconfig command allows you to set up the plotter to print monochrome or color. Please check off optimize memory usage and click on print colors All as black. In the event you need to print color you will need to go back to hpconfig and change it to In color.
To Shade or Screen Pen Weights Under the pens menu in hpconfig you now have the choice to shade pens if you want. Simply select the pen you want, select shaded and choose a percentage that you want that pen to be gray scaled.
Media Orientation In most cases you will not need to change this setting. But be aware for certain large size plots depending on their xy axis in AutoCAD you might need to change it. Leave the default on for now for standard size sheets.
Plotting Press OK and OK to get out of hpconfig. Then press your print icon or type plot at your command prompt. You will now be in the Print/Plot Configuration.
Device and Default Selection Next select your device and default selection box to get into this screen, make sure your HP is highlighted. This is the place where you can merge a pcp (pen weights) if you have one set up already if you don t press OK.
Pen Assignments Now select pen assignments to get into this dialog box. This is the place where you put in your pen weights for your different layers. After you have put in your pen weights select OK.
Plotting by extents, view, limits, display or window Depending on how you set up your drawing in model space, paper space or views, you will need to select the drawing to plot by one of these selections
Plot Size You will need to select the right paper size depending on your drawing. Standard sizes are not included in AutoCAD R14 for some reason so you need to create user sizes. See illustration below.
Plot Rotation and Origin Select the rotation and origin depending on your drawing, paper size and your previews.
Scale of the Drawing In Autocad you are always drawing at a scale. You need to select what scale your drawing is going to be at this output size.
Full Preview Always! Always! Do a full preview of your drawing.
Plot Preview Make Sure All Your Drawing Information Is there, the Size, Scale and Rotation Is Correct. If everything looks good press escape.
Plotting to File Make sure your plot to file button is checked on and then click file name.
Plot File Name & Location This is where you designate where your plot file is going. I would suggest creating a new folder and put them in there. It is also a good idea to give them intelligent file names. Press Save when finished.
Plot It!!!!!! Press OK you re done!
Window s Explorer This is where you re file is located once you have completed all your plot files zip them up and send it over.
