How to become an MOT Nominated Tester STEP ONE Level 3 Inspection Technician Course STEP TWO Award in MOT Testing Course 1. Pass a level 3 pre-entry qualification recognised by DVSA 2. Pass the Award in MOT Testing Certificate FINALLY Annual Training and Annual Assessment STEP THREE VT8 Observation After you ve qualified you ll need to do Annual Training and pass an Annual Assessment each year. 3. After you pass the DVSA VT8 Observation you will be a fully qualified MOT Tester

Inspection Technician Course Course Overview This comprehensive course will develop your skills around vehicle inspection techniques and engine & electrical diagnostics. The Inspection Technician Certificate is a recognised qualification by the DVSA. You will focus on all vehicle systems from steering, suspension, wheels and tyres, body, corrosion, vehicle and braking systems. We make learning easy, using 90% practical, 10% theory based study and using meaningful assessments that reflect the demands of today s competitive industry, giving you a solid grounding in key principles and ideas. Who should attend? Assessment only - For skilled and experienced technicians who are of a standard to complete the assessment only with no training. The assessment can be completed in one day, subject to being of the appropriate standard. 3-day - Ideal for skilled and experienced technicians who want some brushing up and refreshing on key areas before starting the assessment. 8-day - Our most popular course for technicians with 4 or more years experience and a good background knowledge. This 2 week fast track route is ideal for someone who needs assistance in specific areas of inspection before undergoing assessment. Once complete you will gain your Light Vehicle Inspection Technician Accreditation which is accepted as the first step towards achieving your MOT Testers License. What s included? Award in MOT Testing Class 4 & 7 Course Overview This course replaces the Nominated Tester Training (NTT) which was formerly run by DVSA. This qualification is for individuals who are serious about becoming fully qualified MOT Testers. This intensive course will develop your skills around the MOT Testing Routine to help you become a Nominated Tester. You will focus on Working Safely within a Vehicle Test Centre, Working Relationships, Professional Development, Pre-Test Checks & The MOT Test. Using a blend of practical and theory based study we make learning easy by putting in place meaningful assessments that reflect the demands of today s competitive industry, giving you a solid grounding in key principles and ideas. Once you have completed your Award in MOT Testing you will need to complete a VT8 Observation which is the final step in your journey to become an MOT Tester. What s included? AWARD IN MOT CENTRE MANAGEMENT Course Overview The new Level 3 Award in MOT Test Centre Management has been developed in collaboration with the DVSA to give learners the knowledge and skills required to manage MOT Vehicle Test Centres. This qualification will teach you how to: - Develop the legislative and compliance knowledge required to manage an MOT Test Centre - Effectively encourage improvements in customer service - Develop and supervise staff within a Testing Centre - Understand the Centre quality systems and audits. MOT Quality Assurance Systems Course Overview t is a requirement by DVSA to have a good quality management system in place, regular quality control checks carried out to a suitable standard and a robust MOT administration system. This intensive one-day training course will cover what your quality assurance & policies are, how to implement a quality assurance system and carry out your own internal site audits based on the DVSA site assessment criteria. Who should attend? This qualification has been developed for individuals who are responsible for the quality and records for a MOT test station. The MOT managers course covers what you have to do as laid down by the DVSA, this course will teach you how to implement what you have already learnt. This intensive one-day training course will cover how to practically implement the requirements as laid down by DVSA for effective management of an MOT test station. Who should attend? This qualification has been developed for individuals who are responsible to ensure the quality and records for an MOT test station.
