Upgrading the Fiery CS IC-310 to system software version 2.0 Overview This document describes how to upgrade the Fiery CS IC-310 to system software, version 2.0. Notify the site administrator that some archived jobs may no longer print after you install system software, version 2.0. NOTE: The term Fiery Color Server is used in this document to refer to the Fiery CS IC-310. Contents of this kit Procedures In addition to this document, this kit contains: Four 2GB DIMMs for upgrading the memory from 8GB to 16GB. License Activation Code for activating the system software version 2.0 after installation. Additional documents Media Package System Software DVDs system software, version 2.0 for installation on the Fiery Color Server, including Windows 7 operating system. User Software DVD user software for installation on client computers. The following list is a summary; see the complete procedures in the following pages. To upgrade the Fiery Color Server, perform the following procedures in the order shown. 1 Back up the current system settings and verify the system version (see page 2). 2 Install the additional DIMMs (see page 3). 3 Install system software (see page 4). Installing system software deletes everything on the HDD (hard disk drive). Coordinate with the network administrator at the customer site before installing system software. 4 Activate the license (see page 6). 5 Verify the product upgrade (see page 6). 2014 Electronics For Imaging 16 December 2014 45133185 *45133185*
TO BACK UP THE CURRENT SYSTEM SETTINGS AND VERIFY THE SYSTEM VERSION 1 Ask the network administrator to archive any jobs that the customer wants to keep. The network administrator should save the jobs to removable media or a location on the network, so that the jobs can be imported back into the Fiery Color Server queue after software installation. 2 If you have not done so already, allow the network administrator the opportunity to print the Job Log and save any custom simulation and output profiles. If possible, print the following: Configuration page lists any installed options and records the customer s current Setup configuration so that it can be restored after the software installation. Font List lists the fonts currently on the HDD. Along with the fonts provided in the system software, the customer may have installed additional fonts. 3 On the Configuration page, verify the system version. Look for the Version and Memory field in the Fiery Server section of the Configuration page. If the Version shows 2.0 and the Memory (MB) is around 16011, this system has been upgraded and you do not need to upgrade. Tips for DIMM installation The motherboard has 16 DIMM sockets organized into two sets, as shown in Figure 1. 3 The Fiery Color Server standard configuration provides four 2GB DIMMs, for a total of 8GB of memory (Socket A0, B0, E0, and F0 are occupied). Use the following tips when you install the additional DIMMs provided with this kit. If the current system has the standard configuration (8GB), install four additional DIMMs into the blue sockets (C0, D0, G0, and H0). If the current system has non-standard configuration, see the following table to determine the available slots. To access the DIMM sockets on the motherboard, you must remove the left panel. 2 Locate the four 2GB DIMMs provided in this upgrade kit.
3 Install the DIMMs in the four empty DIMM sockets on the motherboard (see page 3). Close the levers at each side of the socket to lock the DIMM into place. NOTE: The socket is keyed so that the DIMM fits only one way. (See the notches in the following figure.) Make sure that the entire length of the DIMM (ends and center) is fully seated in the socket and that the levers close securely around the ends of the DIMM. Installing the system software Follow the instructions below to install the system software version 2.0. TO INSTALL SYSTEM SOFTWARE NOTE: In this procedure, you can use both the Fiery Color Server control panel and the optional keyboard and mouse to interact with the installer messages. Software installation takes approximately 1.5 hour (not including the time needed to configure the Fiery Color Server). 1 Make sure that all USB storage devices and dongles have been removed from the Fiery Color Server. 2 Insert System Software DVD 1 provided with this kit into the DVD drive. 3 Reboot the Fiery Color Server. Wait while the system boots from the DVD. 4 When the language selection screen displays, select a language. 5 When What do you want to do? screen displays, choose New Installation.
6 When This installation will erase all data on the hard disk drive(s). Continue? message displays, choose Continue. 7 When prompted, insert System Software DVD 2, and then System Software DVD 3, into the DVD drive. Wait for files to be copied to the Fiery Color Server. Time required for System Software DVD 2 and 3: approximately eight minutes. The disc ejects when this step is complete. 8 When prompted, insert the User Software DVD into the DVD drive. Wait for files to be copied to the Fiery Color Server. Time required: approximately 12 minutes. Files are copied to drive E at efi\user_sw. The disc ejects when this step is complete. 9 Wait while files are installed on the Fiery Color Server. Time required: approximately 45 minutes. Wait until the Fiery Color Server reaches Idle. 10 Ask the site administrator to perform the initial Setup. For details, refer the site administrator to Configuration and Setup, which is part of the user documentation set. If a monitor, mouse, and keyboard are present, proceed with the step 11. If a monitor, mouse, and keyboard are not present, go to step 15. 11 At the Admin login, enter the password, and then press Enter. Fiery.1. is the default password and is case-sensitive. 12 Use the printer touch panel to setup the network configuration for the Fiery Color Server, and install the Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com (see the readme document in this kit). 13 Follow the on-screen instructions in the Fiery Setup Wizard to configure the Fiery Color Server for the customer s print environment. For more information on Fiery Setup Wizard, see Configuration and Setup, which is part of the user documentation set. 14 Wait for Command WorkStation to start. During installation, a localhost connection to Command WorkStation is created, so when you start the Fiery Color Server, Command WorkStation starts also. 15 Shut down the Fiery Color Server (see Installation and Service Guide). 16 Restore the dongles and devices that you removed in step 1.
17 Start the Fiery Color Server (see Installation and Service Guide). 18 Before you proceed to next step, remind the site administrator to do the following: Import archived jobs. Please note that some archived jobs may not print. Reinstall the following: Fonts User documentation Custom simulations Activating the system software version 2.0 license After you install the system software version 2.0, you need to activate the system by entering the License Activation Code (LAC) that is provided with this kit. You cannot print any job to the Fiery Color Server until you activate the version 2.0 license. TO ACTIVATE THE LICENSE 1 Do one of the following: In Command WorkStation, go to Device Center > General > General Info, and click Manage. In WebTools, click the Home tab and then click Manage. 2 Use the controls in the activation window to activate the system software version 2.0. You need the License Activation Code (LAC) that is included in this kit to activate the system. For detailed instructions, click the? link in the activation window. NOTE: Keep the License Activation Code in the version 2.0 upgrade kit. 3 Restart the Fiery Color Server when you finish the activation. TO VERIFY THE PRODUCT UPGRADE Print a Configuration page and verify the following: Fiery Server > Memory (MB) is approximately 16011. The exact memory amount displayed on the Configuration page may vary depending on your system. Fiery Server > Version is 2.0.
