USING THE SHARE POD The Share Pod allows hosts and presenters to share content in various ways. There are many uses for the Share Pod, but the two most popular are Share My Screen and Share Document. Share My Screen allows you and your guests to share your desktop live with an audience. It is useful for: Live critiques Tutorials using different programs Navigation through the Online Dashboard Taking control of a student s desktop to help them navigate Share Document allows you and your guests to share documents live with an audience. By sharing documents you can: Mark up documents using markers and highlighters Allow for easy follow along using the pointer Review student videos or documents in real time
FIRST TIME USING SHARE MY SCREEN Share My Screen utilizes the Adobe Connect Add-in. In order to have full functionality of the Share My screen option, you must first download the Adobe Connect Add-in. First click on the Share My Screen bar. If the Add-in does not automatically download and install, go to the Adobe Connect Add-in website:https://www.adobe.com/support/connect/ downloads-updates.html Then navigate to your computer s operating system and download the most current version of the Add-in. The first time you use the Share My Screen function, it may ask you to install the Adobe Connect Add-in. Note: you will only have to download the add-in once if you are using the same browser each time you use your Online Office. Once downloaded and installed, your online office should re-launch and allow you to share your screen.
SHARING Share My YOUR Screen: SCREEN When you Share My Screen, you will be prompted to select a monitor (depending on how many you have). Once selected, press Share. Once you press the Share button, the Adobe Connect Room will minimize and you ll see the task bar in the lower righthand corner of your screen. To stop sharing your desktop, click on the first icon and press Stop Sharing.
REQUESTING CONTROL If you re in a meeting where someone is sharing their screen, you have the capability to request control of their screen (with the necessary permissions) In the upper right-hand corner of the Share Pod select the Request Control button. To Release Control, select the button in the upper right-hand corner of the Share Pod. While awaiting your request, you will receive this notification: When you no longer have control of the screen, you will receive this notification: When your request has been approved, this notification will appear:
GRANTING CONTROL OF YOUR DESKTOP Only attendees with host or presenter permission can request control of your Share Screen. While you are in Share My Screen mode, you will receive a notification from your requestor on your minimized task bar. Click on the notification to expand. Once you allow them to take control of your desktop, you will receive this notification: To allow them to take control, click Accept. When they release control of your screen, you will then get this notification:
SHARING A DOCUMENT To Share Document, click the down arrow on the Share My Screen bar. Then select Share Document. A pop up box will appear. Click Browse My Computer in the lower left-hand corner of the box. A file explorer window will open up. Navigate to where the file lives on your computer and press Open. Documents supported: FLV, MP4, SWF, PDF, PPT, JPG, PNG Documents not support: Word Docs, QuickTime Videos, Excel
TROUBLESHOOTING ERRORS Below are some troubleshooting tips if you are having any issues sharing your screen or uploading any documents Try a different browser Try using alternative browsers like Firefox, Safari, Chrome, or Internet Explorer. Restart your computer Sometimes, something as simple as restarting your computer works. Clear out your Cache and Cookies Clearing your cache and cookies can clear any errors that may have occurred.
