Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Installation reports that port for Apache is in use If you see either of the following error messages, the port that Apache is attempting to use (port 80), is already in use by another program. See Co-Installation with Microsoft IIS and Configuring the Server Port to remedy this problem. 25

Troubleshooting Co-Installation with Microsoft IIS The default port for the Blueprint Definition Web Server (Apache) is port 80. This is also the standard communication port for Microsoft IIS and other web servers. In order to have a coinstallation of both MS IIS and Apache, an alternate port must be configured for use with the Apache server. The Apache Installer provides an opportunity for the user to select an alternate port, however WE DO NOT RECOMMEND CHANGING THE PORT at this point in the installation process. We recommended installing the Apache Web Server with the default settings and then reconfigure the server port following the installation as this will allow for the installer to setup and configure the Apache Web Server as a Windows Service. Port 80 must be available during the Apache installation process. Therefore MS IIS will need to be temporarily disabled during the Blueprint Team Repository installation process. Selecting the alternate port as provided by the Apache Installer will disable the installer from installing the Apache Web Server as a Windows Service. The Apache Web Server will then require manual start and stop procedures. 26

Troubleshooting Configuring the Server Port 1. Open the Apache configuration file located at: C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\conf\httpd.conf 2. Search for the line that begins with "Listen". In a default installation, it should read: Listen 80. 3. Edit the Listen directive to listen to another port. i.e. 8088. 4. Save and close the file. 5. Restart Apache (see Restart Apache ) a. Confirm the installation of Apache. b. Open a web browser, and enter: http://<servername>:8088/ c. If successful, the Apache server home page appears 27

Troubleshooting Restart Apache This assumes Apache is running as a Windows Service. 1. Select Start > Programs > Apache HTTP Server 2.0.59 > Control Apache Server > Restart Apache or alternatively: 2. In the system tray, select (left-click) the Apache Control Icon and select Restart or alternatively: 3. In the system tray, select (right-click) the Apache Control Icon, Open the Apache Monitor, and select Restart. Select Exit to close the Monitor. 28
